Check the dates

by Dan on 10/01/2019

Check the dates on these reviews. All of them are super old. I'd put a Hamilton on them taking down bad reviews. Used their online calculator to find a price for a lease. Got the deal sent to my email. Went in and they instantly knew that they weren't going to do the deal. So long story short it was just a scam to get us in the door. They were also in the process of scamming the person next to us which was pretty obnoxious. The manager changed the website so that the lease calculator put the price of the lease to be HIGHER than the total cost of the car.... What a joke.

Trustworthy and patient

by jnicesong on 04/14/2016

Samuel and the Winn VW team are simply a trustworthy group. I found a used car online through my bank located at Winn VW. I specifically choose a car at Winn due to my first experience with them in August. Samuel called to let me know the car was available, and he would have the paperwork ready when I arrived. True to his word, everything was set and ready, except me. I was hesitant, and wanted to hear other options. Samuel and the team stayed an hour after closing to answered all my questions. In the end, Samuel found a better deal with a new car. I never felt pushed into anything, nor did I feel like they were pushing me out the door. Both experiences with Winn VW have been unbelievable. Everyone from the manager to finance was involved, and truly made this a painless experience. I recommend Winn to EVERYONE looking for a great deal with an amazing team.

Got my first car here!

by Sami2503 on 03/22/2016

We found Winn VW through TrueCar, and discovered they are really highly rated amongst various reviewing sites - and we now know why! Samuel and Mark worked with us to find the perfect car and helped us negotiate a great lease contract, ensuring we got everything we needed and took advantage of the VW incentives available to get the best possible deal. We had been considering getting a second car/my first car, for quite some time and have visited lots of different dealers. We have both always liked VW, and after talking with Samuel and Mark about the cars we felt we had all the information we needed without ANY pressure to buy! The financial process was pretty easy too, not salesy like other places. Then after we went through the whole process they delivered the car and ran through all the features again just to make sure we get the full use of our beautiful new Golf!! I am beyond happy with our new car, and happy it was such a painless process!

My friend referred me to this dealer and Samuel took good care of me. He got me a very reasonable price, recommended me insurance and picked me up from my place to take the car. Excellent great guy!

Saving me in a crisis!

by theshyning on 02/02/2016

So I have been saving for a car for a while now and didn't get to save all that I wanted for a new one before my old car took a dump on me. Samuel helped me and couldn't have made the experience more simple and clear. I was in need of a vehicle like yesterday and he was able to get me into a new 2016 jetta that was cost efficient as well as meeting my needs in a vehicle. A+ service and satisfaction in my purchase. I don't regret a single thing. He even has his own hash tag! #SeeSamuelLeyva

Excellent dealership and help

by CoryAM2002 on 01/29/2016

I called up a few VW dealerships in the area and had some trouble trying to set up a test run with a VW Golf R; it seems Hayward doesn't do test drives because they "want their cars to be in the best condition possible for their customers." That's fine and all, but they completely lost my business there because if I can't test a car I would buy, then I'm not going to buy it. Period. In comes Samuel from Winn VW. He was as polite and as courteous as it gets. I called the dealership and we set up a time to come down and test drive the car. Everything went smoothly and he was adamant about being clear and not wanting to waste my time by giving half-answers, or redirections. He was very knowledgable about the car and even had an older model to take a look at. From start to end, Samuel worked with me to get the best deal possible. I would highly recommend him and Winn VW to get the best deal and service for your time and money.

Excellent service from Samuel Leva

by Pshirokikh on 11/17/2015

When buying my 2015 VW Jetta, Samuel Leva made the experience pleasant and comfortable rather than stressful. He provided me with useful information and answered all my questions. To this day I still call him with questions about my car and he always answers them with polite, positive and professional responses.

Cheating, disgusting

by ericdodou1 on 11/24/2013

They promised to remove the scrapping before I paid. When I got the car, it is still there. They just said "You can do with that". And they kept the tank empty. [non-permissible content removed]!

It was all great until we paid the money...

by VWFanCA on 09/27/2013

Day 0: The buying process was a breeze. They matched the price we were paying for the certified pre-owned (CPO) car elsewhere, even though the car they had was a trim higher than the one we'd priced elsewhere. So we made a downpayment, and took care of the financing part and scheduled to pick the car up 2 days later. Things to note: The car had an after market stereo Day 2: We get to the dealership and they tell me that I'd only get one key with the car because that's the way they got it. We were surprised since we just bought a CPO car, not a used car. When I told them that surely there must be some provision in the CPO standards to give 2 keys to the purchaser, they told us that that was not true and we'd have to do with just one key. We drive away in the car, not feeling so much excited about the buy. They gave us the car with a near empty tank. And when I asked them if they'd fill it up for us, the salesman told us that that's the way they sell cars around here. Come on! I just paid you more than 25 grand and you can't even give me a full tank of gas worth 60 something bucks? That's just pathetic. I bought my previous car for just 8 grand and that dealership made sure that I left the dealership with a smile. But not these guys. Day 2 contd.: Once we get home with the car, I notice a scraping sound coming from underneath the car. When I bend down to have a look, I see that a plastic part is dangling down from the nose of the car. I was like WTF is going on here. I immediately called them back and asked them for an explanation. At first, their attitude was like, "You did it!". But when I explained to them that there was nothing that we could have hit in the 20 mile almost exclusively freeway based trip-back home, they relented and asked me to make an appointment. I don't get how this dealership can be a 'Diamond-certified' dealership if they cannot even ensure that the car is in excellent physical condition before selling it. And obviously, I cannot get the car to them over the next 2 weeks owing to the holiday weekend. so I drive around with the part scraping against the road. Day 30: Meanwhile, I've tested the car thoroughly and also gone over the CPO agreement from VW. Turns out that I am entitled to 2 keys, and the car to be in a condition it was when it was brand new. The after market stereo in the car was a joke! It had poor radio reception, didn't have HD radio or satellite radio. It did have Nav but it was pathetic just the same. You couldn't turn on Nav and listen to music at the same time. The stereo also wasn't hooked up to the steering controls either therefore diminishing its value to me while driving by a lot. I had to pester them for weeks, via email and heated phone calls before they gave in and agreed to change the stereo to something that VW made. They agreed to give me an RNS 510 which comes with Nav but not before I was frustrated beyond my dreams. So they finally took the car in for servicing for almost a week and fixed everything. Day 37: Before getting my car back, I asked them if everything was working fine. They assured me that everything indeed was working great. I asked them if I'd be able to hook up my iPod to the stereo and they told me yes. However, when I went to get the car, I saw that the necessary module simply wasn't installed in the car. I did get an extra key and a new plastic part that was scraping against the road. Therefore, I left almost satisfied. But I really did want the iPod integration to work. Present day: Day 60 something: I tried to make an appointment with them, right after I took the car back in from them but the manager who'd authorize everything went on vacation, so the process got stalled for a week, or so I thought. They told me that Michael, the manager would get back to me as soon as he got back from vacation, but he never did, for over a month. Finally, I confronted him on the phone and he told me that he thought he'd done enough for me that didn't even ...

See the TDI guy (Clay B.)

by subynuts on 02/24/2012

Hello Mr. Gibson, I recently came into Winn VW to turn in my leased Jetta as my 3 year term was coming to an end. I have been a VW customer for a long time. I bought from your VW dealership when it was Bob Lewis and when it was at a different location onFremont Blvd. years and years ago. I have lots of fine VW memories and have always enjoyed driving Volkswagens. John Phelan has been my go-to repair department guy for years and he is a huge reason I continue to come back. All that said, I wasn’t really looking forward to the ‘sales’ transaction but knew I needed to go through it in order to update my car. My husband hates the experience so much I decided to go it alone this time. His stress stressed me out! We even talked about going down to a one-car family now that our kids are grown and out of the house. However, when I met up with Clay that day everything changed. He was so friendly, polite, professional and calming…He’s very Volkswagen! He gave me the space I needed, answered every question I had without any pressure. I asked if he would show me the cars that would stay within my budget and ultimately, he introduced me to my new 2012 Beetle…which I love! Clay let me leave that day without buying a car (mostly because the computer system was down otherwise the transaction would have happened sooner) which I appreciated. He didn’t force the issue and he didn’t have to, I loved the car and I was sold on Clay too. I came back a couple of days later with my husband (having convinced him this experience would change his mind about the car buying process) and we finalized the transaction. I appreciate the wonderful deal VW made happen for me and the way the rest of the team helped me. I am very happy to once again be driving a VW. Thank you for having people like Clay on your team. He was a pleasure to work with. I love my new Beetle and I made a new friend in the car selling business. See you all again in a few years! Sincerely, Donna Smyth

misleading dealership

by zahrah on 12/29/2011

I was given $16,350 quote for Jetta SE w/ convenience with a link and picture of the car. When I emailed the dealership to make sure of the price he assured that was the price and he has the car ready. Drove all the way to Newark for the manager to act so surprised on where Samuel got that price. I still have the email and will contact VW of America with the misleading add this dealership has. Just today I got another email w/ pictures and prices of the Jetta and luckily it has the dealership name. It's disrespectful of people's time and made the process of buying a new car unpleasant.

Professional and attentive

by oakland1 on 12/06/2011

The staff at Winn Volkswagen were very professional and attentive. Keith and Samuel in particular were excellent and made the experience painless. As the paperwork was being processed Keith took the time to introduce me to key people in the service department and showroom. Samuel had the car ready when I returned and explained all the features of the automobile. One of the best car buying expereinces I have had.

A Win

by ftlfist on 07/22/2009

From the sales floor to the service department, Winn's employees were friendly, courteous, and attentive. The salesperson I worked with didn't come across as slick and didn't play the endless,"I'll see if my sales manager will go for this" waiting game. Expectations for my trade in weren't immediately lowered as they had been at other dealerships. I would recommend this dealership to friends and family members.

[violative content deleted] STEVEN YEE

by areng on 12/30/2008

This was the worst car buying experience in my entire life!!! Worst customer service received ever. I feel very stupid for actually falling for Steven Yee's BS. I would highly recommend NOT to buy from this place. Nobody every returns your call if you request a call back unless you havent made a purchase already.... poor poor customer service. Steven Yee tricked me with the price. He straight up lied when we sat down and started talking about the salesprice of the GTI i was looking at. I just was heartbroken and a nervous wreck for days after the purchase. I'm already having trouble with the car i bought aswell and it doesnt seem like they are willing to help me out. Steven Yee was suppose to give me a call back regarding this issue and he just never did. (as usual... he was suppose to give me a call for other reasons and never did). The front end of my car has been sandblasted somehow and of course nobody told me the glass is damaged. If the sun hits the glass just right im completly blinded and had to pull over twice. I noticed a few days after the purchase. NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS MAN UNLESS YOU REALLY KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. HE'S A [violative content deleted]!!!! EVEN A WEEK AFTER THE PURCHASE I STILL FEEL TERRIBLE AND I WISH I COULD GO BACK IN TIME. THE DEALERSHIP IS UNWILLING TO DO ANYTING FOR ME. VERY DISSAPOINTING What they are doing is criminal and should be checked into by VW. Im sure it is not in the companys interest in having allot of dissapointed and unsatisfied buyers. Not good for the company image Also the Financeguy "Mike" sold me an extended warranty and obviously had no clue what he was selling me. I found out a few days later that what i bought wasnt even close to what i expected.....

I received promises that were never met

by mshonesty on 11/12/2008

I received a quote from the internet manager and agreed to come see the car, after test driving it and sitting down to talk about a deal, he admits to me the price quote was for prior volkswagon owners only. During the email exchange I informed him that I had never even driven a volkswagon before so he should of been candid and let me know right there the correct quote for the car we were discussing. I ended up purchasing a used 2008 PASSAT as they did not accept my offer for the new PASSAT but he told me it was the exact same car. 1) I was given the wrong spare key, the correct one never showed up, this involved me driving back and forth to return the key and my having to fork over another $200.00 for a spare key that was promised with the car. 2) I traded in a car and that car had almost a full tank of gas, I was promised they would put gas in the car I just purchased when I returned. Never happened, the car given to me had barely a 1/4 tank. 3) The car mats were missing and I have never received any nor a offer of a discount to purchase some, this reverts back to the promise that the car I bought had the EXACT same items as the new car I thoughly examed. I was rushed through looking at the used car and promised it was the same. I had made notes of the few scratches on the car and was fine to overlook this. 4) I had to sit there for hours waiting to finish up the paperwork, they said it would be just a short time, ya right they were busy ripping off other patrons and lining them up. I recommend you shop at another dealship for a fair car purchase

over priced lemon

by kdario on 04/07/2008

I bought a 2001 Jetta from Mr. Steven Yee at Winn VW . He sold me this car for 5000. over the sticker price he claimed it was to get me a better interest rate. So stupid I' am about buying cars I fell for it. It took several calls to Mr Yee to get him to send me the car maintenence records. I finally had to call his supervisor and they sent the records the next day. The car I bought was a lease return that Mr. Yee claimed was in excellent shape. After reviewing the records I noticed that the car had never had any service besides a battery and a few oil changes. I had to put an 862. tune-up on the car not even 6 mos after driving the car off the lot. The transmission is bad and the tail lights do not work. Too many things wrong for a car at the price I paid. If you buy a car from Mr.Yee at Winn VW watch out. Don't let him bs you like he did me.
