great job

by MiguelRamos on 10/31/2014

Kyle Groom- The best internet sales manager. Very professional and polite. Went to Mazda of Cerritos and got quoted for the same vehicle we purchased at star Mazda for over 30k with a 4k down payment. Kyle was straightforward and honest that we purchased our 2015 Mazda3 sport for way less than 30k. Ever since the first phone call with Kyle til he handed our keys, my wife and I felt very comfortable and well taken care of. Kyle made our needs a priority. Thanks again for everything, we couldn't be happier with our new vehicle. No more riding my bicycle :)-Miguel Ramos

Star Mazda Sales review

by artpioneer88 on 06/02/2014

Dominique greeted us on the sales lot and took her time showing us all the cars we were interested in. She was kind and courteous, but never pushy. She let us take our time and test drive all the models. Dominique also looked for all the possible rebates we could qualify for. In the end and with a quote online we were able to purchase a beautiful 2014 Mazda 6. The rest of the staff and finance department was also very open, friendly and knowledgeable. They helped my wife and I to feel relaxed and comfortable while going through the purchasing process of our new vehicle. I would highly recommend Star Mazda and especially Dominique to all my friends when purchasing their next car.

Great service at Star Mazda

by Jelman76 on 05/29/2014

I had two guys over two days help me test drive the CX5 - Orlando was cool and knowledgable. Mike M. on Day 2 was superb - knew hyis stuff inside out, very friendly and respectful, didn't pressure me at all, and took me out for a greaty and 'proper' test drive to feel out the car. Overall, a great experience from both these guys.

Perfect Expereince with Star Mazda and Dominique

by nmarcus300 on 05/29/2014

my experience with star mazda and Dominique was nothing but the best. Compared to other dealerships, Dominiques low pressure approach made the choice a simple and easy one. There's already enough pressure when your planning on leasing a car, the last thing you want is pressure from a pushy salesman. Dominique was relaxed and realistic with me which helped my car leasing experience greatly. I have been driving my new mazda 3 for a little over a week now and I can say I am just as happy with my purchase as when I drove off the lot a week ago. I would definitely recommend star mazda as well as Dominique to any friend or family member that is looking to lease a car in a stress free environment

Star Mazda sales

by alaurence03 on 05/27/2014

My boyfriend and I leased a new car over the last weekend and traded in my old one. We initially called for an estimate and spoke with Mike M. and he let us know that even though we wanted the bare minimum he could help us find whatever we needed and would work to get us what we we were looking for. We test drove a few of the cars and he pointed out some key features which came standard with the car and were awesome. He also helped us to get the maximum value for my trade in and when I happened to leave something in the old vehicle after we had already left the lot he even went back and looked through the whole thing multiple times since it was in an odd place. As we were getting approved for the loan and finalizing our monthly rate the general manager was very helpful in explaining how exactly our auto credit score worked and what factors would make the score go up or down and how it would affect our final payment. I thought this was very helpful and something you don't often get at a lot of dealerships who just want you to sign the paperwork and get out. It was great to feel like they were taking our concerns into consideration and actually helping us understand all the pieces to it. I work as a CPA so I knew what to expect in terms of a loan and how leases work and they didn't try to sugarcoat it. The customer service was great, and my boyfriend and I look forward to continuing a relationship with Mike and the team there at Star Mazda.

Very happy with Star and Orlando

by InfinitiDM on 02/17/2014

I recently purchased a used Infiniti from Orlando and was very happy with the transaction. After a test drive, I negotiated a purchase price over the phone and was pleasantly surprised when they didn't play games when I arrived to sign the docs. The car was clean but there were a few things that needed attention, including missing floor mats and the owner's manual. When the items arrived, I brought the car back for the minor touch-up work that was owed. They provided a rental car as agreed and had the work done quickly. In addition to Orlando, Michael in Service was also very good to work with. Both were professional, and I felt they really were trying to make me a satisfied customer, which is a challenge because I generally have my guard up with car sales and service people. I would definitely recommend Star based on my experience with Orlando and Michael.

Positive experience (after a bad experience)

by silver_pellet on 01/17/2014

My car was stolen in July of 2012. Besides the immediate annoyance of not having my ride, I had to take time to find another vehicle at a point when my savings were low, my finances fluctuating, my salary shaky, and my patience at an all time low. (The temps, however, were high, over 100 degrees.) I started looking for another vehicle and could not find anything that suited me. I had calls and e-mails coming in everyday telling me that about great bargains that disappeared the moment I started asking questions. I decided to get offline and shop in person. I literally stumbled onto Star Mazda (thought it was another dealer). The salesman brought me some cold water, listened to my description of a desired car, and then pointed to a vehicle about ten feet away. Perfect fit! Of course, then came the part I dreaded most -- paperwork, payments, credit checks, negotiations. That, however, went much smoother than anticipated, in large part due to the fact that EVERY single question I asked got answered. All in all, a very good sales experience -- particularly in light of the fact that I didn't want a new car! (That said, I cannot imagine driving any other car than what I have now!)

MSRP? REALLY?

by beshonk on 11/16/2013

I tried to negotiate with star mazda to get what i felt was a fair price out the door for a new 2014 mazda 3. I had quotes from other dealerships and a quote from the toyota dealer across the street. I also had both truecar and KBB new car values in hand. T They kept on quoting me MSRP, finally i talked them down, and then the manager quoted me MSRP saying the salesperson couldn't set pricing. They also kept trying to push their financing on me even though i had financing. Do yourself a huge favor, go to GALPIN. Talk to Oliver B. at any galpin dealership (he's certified with all of them) and you will definitely have a better experience and better price!

Pretty Good

by gateauvrai on 01/07/2013

Purchasing a CX-5 from Jim was a pretty good experience. I felt like I was treated fairly and I would recommend other people to give it a shot. Specifically he was very friendly, professional, and most importantly, willing to negotiate downwards. With some research from edmunds.com beforehand, a savvy consumer should be able to find a good deal here.

Never trust a dealer, Internet or not

by tkinseoul on 07/30/2012

I used Edmunds quote and several dealers responded for around $18500. I picked Star Mazda because Greg Moss, their Internet guy, seemed most straightforward and credible. I mentioned about $250 lender bonus money that Edmunds shows as a customer rebate. He told me the APR Cash (the lender bonus) would bring it down to $18259. I eventually negotiated another $100 down. Great deal, especially given 0% financing, right? He had to do a dealer swap to get the car that I wanted. When I came in to sign, he said he couldn't honor the last $100 off from the original deal that we negotiated because it was a dealer swap. Fine, he did the work, and I figured it was worth $100. I wasn't told of it prior to walking in, and I was tired with sickness that day. That threw me off enough that I failed to notice missing $250 lender rebate. (Yeah I know, it was my fault). I called Greg to ask him about it, and he mumbled something about $18259 with lender rebate was for the cash purchase only. (No, it didn't make sense to me either). I sent him a polite email explaining our deal and that $250 lender rebate should've been given to me. Greg responded saying that he talked it over with the general manager, and the rebate was a dealer money so they were keeping it, and that he has no recollection of mentioning $18259. The obvious lesson that everybody knows and I forgot temporarilly: review all papers carefully before signing and cross check with the original deal regardless how much you trust the guy. Managing a dealer like this requires you to be constantly on guard. You have better things to do in life, and it just isn't worth IMO.

Thank you, Nick!

by maximaboy on 01/07/2012

If you need to buy a Mazda, look no further. Star Mazda in Glendale is a great place to shop your car. It is by far the only dealership that is willing to cater to the need of the car buyer. With deal that can’t be beat, and I would know. I went through a number of dealerships and found no other dealerships can and willing to beat the price I got from Star Mazda. There is no extra hassle for the car buyer. With 4 emails and a confirmation phone call, I got my new car within 24 hours. With services like this, Star Mazda is the only dealership I would recommend for anyone who does not want to be tricked by dealerships with bait-and-switch (in inventory and in price) and the long hours to make you cave in to them. If you want the best price and a service with efficiency and hassle-free, Nick (Nickolas Mongeau – Internet/Fleet Manager) is the guy you are looking for. Ask a quote from Nick, He will work a great deal for you. I drove all the way from Orange County to Glendale to pick up my car, so you know the price he got for me is amazing and sincere. Thank you, Nick! Look for Nick, and I guarantee your car purchasing experience will be satisfactory one that will put a smile on your face. Now I am ready for a drive on my new Mazda3 (skyactiv)! Zoom Zoom!

Easiest car buying experience to date

by smurfatron on 11/14/2011

Like the other reviewer we did our research on Edmunds.com to figure out what we wanted and what we wanted to pay before submitting quote requests. Greg Moss called promptly with a price a bit below Edmunds' TMV, which he followed with an email listing the VIN and specs. He was easy going and straight-forward. I talked to a few other dealers till I got an even lower price then went back to Greg. He promised to beat it and did when we got there. Best experience we've had so far buying a car. Never got the hard sell or high pressure, just easy and courteous.

Do your homework first and you'll get a good deal

by call_me_al on 03/07/2010

I did all my homework on Edmunds.com first, then I emailed a few dealerships. Greg Moss, one of the salesmen at Star Mazda, emailed me back promptly and was very courteous. He answered all my questions and quoted me a price by email including taxes and fees. I followed all the advice on Edmunds: I didn't sell him my old car; did that separately. I negotiated for total price, not monthly payments. I went to the dealership only for my scheduled test drive, and then after driving a few other cars, returned the second time to pick up my car. It could not have been easier. Greg was professional and friendly. I got a great deal for a new Mazda 3 that I'm still very happy with. All dealerships are going to try to sell you a million extras. You just have to know what you want before you show up.

[violative content deleted] - screwed me out of $6,000 by undervaluing my trade

by Chuckmangi on 12/03/2008

I recently went to Star Mazda to buy an MX-5. I decided to trade in my Toyota Corolla 2007 which I bought just last year. My trade was valued (not blue book, my car specifically) at $10,200 by [another dealership]. Now, I still owed $6,000 in finance on the car, implying that I have roughly $4,200 equity in the car. When I dealt with Jerome at Star, he offered me $4,750 for the car, leading me to believe this was after the $6,000 additional they would have to pay to cover my loan. Instead, they valued the car TOTAL at $4,750, and then used that as a partial payment to the $6,000, leaving me owing (!) $1,250 after my trade! I gave them my car worth 10,200 and PAID THEM TO TAKE IT FROM ME! The only reason they got away with this was they fooled me into believing that they were giving me $4,750 in addition to the amount they would take to pay off the loan. It's easy to be fooled, because that would actually be a good amount to get in that case, so I thought I was getting a good deal. So, basically, I made a NEGATIVE down payment on my new purchase. They screwed me out of just under $6,000 by significantly undervaluing my trade. The worst part is that I went back after realizing how much I got screwed to ask them to give me back my trade so that I could sell it to [the other dealership] for its proper value, but they told me they sold it! Mind you, this is after giving me a line of bull about how hard it will be to move it because it was involved in a hit and run (despite that fact that the damage was fixed entirely and was cosmetic - and yes, the $10,200 quote was accounting for the accident). They gave me a good deal on the new car, to be sure, but only by screwing me significantly on my trade. I will strongly advise people to steer clear of this shop or, at least, READ THE CONTRACT and know what you should be getting. And don't let them push you to sign the paperwork that day. Take it home and have it reviewed by another shop.
