Defective Jeep

by Unhappy Customer on 08/14/2023

I purchased a 2017 Jeep Wrangler on 12/16/22 with an extended warranty as a Christmas present for my son. The next day I found out the heater didn’t work and notified my sales rep. I was able to get a service appt until the 1st week of January and before my service appt it rained and I realized that the Jeep also had a leak and notified my sales rep. When I dropped the Jeep off the first week of January they said they would look into both problems. 3 weeks later they call to say the Jeep is ready to be picked up. They said they had to replace the heater actuator and that they ran water on the Jeep for 20 minutes and they didn’t see a leak anywhere. I drove the car home and took out the service mats only to realize the carpets were still completely soaked. Took it back in again to have them check the carpets for mold since they let the water sit there for 3 weeks. Picked it it a couple days later and the next time it rained I had the same problem with water leaking into the car. Took it back in several more times for the same issue, one of the times they had the car for 5 weeks, and the issue is still not resolved. I was told by the sales manager “don’t worry about the leak since it wasn’t going to rain for another 8 months” and when I asked about washing the Jeep he said “don’t do a regular car wash just give it a sponge bath.”

BUYER BEWARE!!

by ladyluck30 on 02/19/2014

DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THIS DEALERSHIP! Here's my experience - I went to Stoneridge looking for a particular Jeep, I chose them because the 'True Car' value website stated this is where I'd get the best deal. The salesmen were pushy from the beginning and made me feel uncomfortable. They did not honor the true car price and took my keys and registration for my trade in and would not give them back when I requested. I knew the exact car I wanted, they did not have it on the lot but told me they would have another dealer transfer it to them and I would be able to pick it up in one or two days -fine, no problem. I signed all the contracts and paperwork, signed my trade in car over and left a one thousand dollar deposit. I asked for my copy of the paperwork so I could review while I was waiting for my car to arrive, I was told that I would be given my paperwork when I pick up the vehicle. Two days go by and I call, I was told the car they 'secured' from the other dealership was sold yesterday. They immediately try to sell me a similar car, I decline. They gave me back my deposit without much fuss (I pretty sure they knew they were wrong in this whole situation). I end up going to the dealership where they were supposed to have my car transferred from (it was the only one around that had the car I wanted - even though it appeared to be at a higher price)....the sales manager told me that Stoneridge just called that morning to try and secure the vehicle (which they did indeed sell the day before) and not two days ago when I signed all the paperwork, I was told if Stoneridge had secured it when I signed everything, I would have had the car. I'm able to have the exact car I want transferred to dealership #2, the sales manager secured the car on speaker phone in front of me followed by giving me copies of all paperwork, I did not have to sign over my trade in at that time either. HERE'S WHERE IT GETS REALLY SHADY: While going through paperwork, I noticed that my monthly payment was going to be significantly higher than quoted at Stoneridge even though I was paying less in total at dealership #2. I walk through all of the financials with the sales manager and there was no way to get to the low monthly payment Stoneridge promised (unless it was at 0% financing). This tells me that they did not want to give me a copy of the paperwork because it was inaccurate, they were trying to pull a fast one on me and almost got away with it, I'm happy dealership #2 sold the car the day before. I would never do any business with Stoneridge, stay away. THESE GUYS ARE [non-permissible content removed]. I'll be posting this on any review site I can find and contacting the BBB.

Buy or Lease from Jim P. Period

by mdlr on 03/30/2013

I do all my research and negotiating online. After determining the price using Edmunds.com and TrueCar.com I email all dealers and find out which ones are willing to compete at my price. It quickly narrows. None of the other dealers could meet the deal except Jim P. at Stoneridge. Interestingly Jim picked up the car with the options I wanted from the dealership in Napa - one of the dealers that could not meet my price. Bottom line - not only is Jim hassle free - he'll do the price!

Use caution when entering!

by vgirl on 03/06/2011

Oh where to begin? We decided to buy a used vehicle from this place and didn't have a very good experience. We drove quite a distance to get there because they had what we had been searching for but they were very hard to negotiate with and continuously tried to challenge my husband into thinking he didn't know what he was talking about--and that he could afford to pay more than he wanted to pay. (We were paying cash, but they were still pushing their financing programs.) Also, after we made a deal with the salesman he took back the price he quoted us (in front of a manager) and tried to say he was "just kidding". What kind of a place is this? The general manager tried to make it "right" but the overall feel of the place and of the sales tactics are slimy. I would suggest using serious caution before buying from them.

$157 to read Nav screen

by xxx56 on 11/07/2009

Nav system on 2006 Jeep commander not working and disc would not eject. System said "insert disc." But I didn't remember ever taking the disc out and thought it was jammed. Took it to service at Stoneridge Jeep in Dublin. They said it would be $157 to diagnosis the problem. ok. Diagnosis was supposed to take 1 hour. 2.5 hours later, report said there was no disc installed. I requested more details on the diagnostics that they did because I thought the disc was jammed. 45 minutes more of waiting, they said the guy was at lunch and they would return my $157. Which they did because I wasn't going to leave until I knew what they did for the $157. I believe all that was done was read the message on the nav screen. Called Nav company directly and they told me to try to insert any DVD. I did, it wouldn't take it and behold the stuck nav disc popped out! Complete waste of almost 4 hours, no real service and not pleasant to deal with.

My no hassle minivan purchase

by janicemiller on 01/20/2009

I went to Stoneridge Chrysler Jeep and Dodge of Dublin to meet the fleet and internet sales manager, a mister Jim Povio. I looked at several minivans and drove several minivans. I then proceeded to purchase a new minivan. Within 20 minutes we had worked out a better deal than I was quoted at another dealership in Hayward. Jim and I sat and had coffee and a muffin, while a porter fueled and cleaned my new minivan. This was trully a no hassle way to purchase a vehicle. I will recommend Jim Povio, the fleet and internet sales manager at Stoneridge Chrysler Jeep and Dodge of Dublin, to all of my friends. Janice Miller
