DO NOT PURCHASE FROM HERE!!! I purchased a 2012 Chevy Cruze from Cornerstone in early December. Within 72 hours of purchase, a massive oil leak was discovered in the vehicle. I called the dealership and they offered to fix it. Great. Take it to them and they fix it and I think I’m good to go. I take it to an independent mechanic who informs me that there is still a massive oil leak. So I call the dealership again and they offer to fix it again. Apparently a whole host of issues are wrong with it and they have to send it to an outside mechanic. I was without the car for 3 weeks. I get the car back and I asked for paperwork documenting what work was done to it and they brush me off and tell me they’ll email it to me. Never did. So I once again took it to my mechanic and once again, the same issue has occurred. I let them know I want to unwind the deal as I made them aware of the issue within 15 days or 500 miles, which is part of the warranty and falls under the Arizona used car lemon law statute. They say they’ll fix the car as the parts they replaced are under warranty. Get the car back after a few days and I immediately take it back to my mechanic who informs that there is still an oil leak with the vehicle and that they’d have to put a dye into it and wait a few days to see how severe the leak is. I call the dealership and inform them that we have the same issue occurring. They text me and call me and tell me that they will give me my money back or let me swap for a new vehicle. I opt for the refund as I want to pretend that I’ve never had the experience I had with these people. So, I get to the dealership today. I’m expecting a refund of the $1500 down payment I put down. I get to the dealership and they ask to see the keys for the car so they can check the mileage. They then tell me they will give me a few hundred dollars of my original down payment back and that’s it. Took the car from me and my money. I have contacted an attorney and also the Attorney General of Arizona as well as the better business bureau. I have pretty much given these guys 1500 dollars to borrow a car for a couple of weeks that was never working properly. I’ve spent several hundred dollars on independent mechanics to see if the work has been done properly and it never has. They sold me a lemon, plain and simple and are now defrauding me out of the down payment I am owed back. My experience with cornerstone has been embarrassing and criminal. Imagine buying a new car and people asking you where you got the new car. You tell them. A couple days later that new car is gone and people are asking you what happened to your new car, and you have to tell them it’s back at the dealer being repaired. Now imagine that happening for weeks and weeks on end. You look like a sucker for going to a shady dealer who clearly screwed you over. I work in a large local industry and deal with a lot of people locally who have had to see me with and without a car in the last 6 weeks repeatedly. Many of them have commented on what a shady dealership cornerstone must be, and I know I have dissuaded a few people from even considering them because of my experience. This has cost me money on private mechanics, time lost at work and nothing but aggravation. If you are in the process of buying from them or are thinking of buying from them DONT!!! But if you are get the vehicle inspected by an independent mechanic. It may cost you a hundred dollars or so, but you need to protect yourself. Familiarize yourself with the Arizona Lemon Law Statute for used cars. If an issue occurs within 15 days or 500 miles, whichever comes first, they must fix it or refund your money. DO NOT FINANCE ANYTHING until you are sure the car you’ve chosen is good to go.
