Signed me up for 2 leases for one car

by adubs31 on 12/04/2017

I had a relatively straightforward, easy time when I signed my lease for a new Mazda several months ago and have no complaints about that experience. 6 months after getting the new car, I received a letter in the mail summarizing that I was several months behind on paying the lease, had accrued multiple late fees, and had been reported to a credit agency. As I had bank statements showing that I had paid my lease dutifully, I followed up the account and found that I had been signed up for 2 leases and the second one had never been reported to me. When I called the dealership, I was referred to the finance manager for their location, who cut me off while I was explaining the situation, and outright told me “that was impossible”. I was told that there was no way they could make that mistake, I should talk to Chase (who does their financing), that he’d look into it and call me back, and then hung up on me. I called Chase, and after 2 hours and 5 different people, I managed to arrive on someone who was able to cancel out the account and refund the late fees (6 weeks later I’m still trying to get the credit rating issue completely fixed). This gentleman at Chase told me that when the dealership sent in my lease, they must’ve accidentally sent in two different sets of paperwork as if I was buying two separate cars. After no one had called me back from the Chapman dealership 2 weeks later, I called and asked to speak to the manager. I was told my issue wasn’t appropriate for the dealership manager and I was once again directed to a finance guy. This time it was a different individual from the first call. He was less rude, but once again told me there was no way they could have signed me up for 2 leases. He told me he would investigate and get back to me. I specifically asked him to write down my cell phone number as the last finance manager had never called me back. It has now been 4 weeks since this call and I have not heard from the dealership. At worst, someone at the dealership signed me up for 2 leases purposely to increase their sales numbers. At best, someone in the dealership to Chase circuit made an honest mistake, but afterwards the dealership has been downright rude, offered absolutely ZERO apology whatsoever, and in no way helped me figure out how to remedy the situation. I understand that people make mistakes and I hope that’s all this was, but it’s a mistake that has set me back and caused me considerable difficulty. The way Chapman Mazda has dealt with the mistake, completely ignored me, and in no way offered to help me figure out how to fix the issue is the worst customer service experience I’ve ever had.

Avoid this Dealership

by jeff788 on 01/29/2017

Sales lied about Dealer Add-Ons; they agreed to my price offer but then changed it by thousands of dollars on final contract. They also misrepresented the actual finance terms. Entire process extremely unprofessional. Worst car buying experience ever. Will never shop here again!

Sales misrepresented, misinformed, & lied to get the sale

by JEFF788 on 01/17/2017

Worst car buying experience of my life. Aggressive and predatory Sales department. What they do is wait until end of the evening when store is empty to show their worst side. Stay far away from this Dealership. I specifically stated NO Dealer Add-Ons and that I won't sign if I see any slipped into the contract last minute. So, they didn't put them in writing but added them to my bill "covertly". Then they deliberately acted out, creating a hostile and threatening environment at the time I was expected to "sign" on the dotted line. Kind of like walking into a wolf den. They told lie after lie, which I later confirmed by simply doing the math. At first I thought, how sad they had to make a living stealing from honest hard-working people, then I noticed this was visibly the highlight of their day. How sad.

oversight corrected

by ben103 on 04/10/2012

Chapman Mazda obviously had some miscommunication within their dealership, as soon as they were aware of the mistakes that they had made they were very prompt in correcting the oversight. I really enjoyed the buying process with Gary and his team. I can only recommend their services.

This dealer, and Mazda in general, are generally dishonest and don't care about their customers. I currently can not start my car because the transponder is dead. They won't give a pin number to a locksmith to make me a new key - which I can get cheaper through the locksmith - and insist I pay them $180 for a new key. They want me to pay them $180 for a key to start a car that I payed over $30K for. That's so wrong I'm disgusted. I called Mazda customer service, and all they could say was that "she'll make a note of it." Useless. Basically, Mazda is holding my car hostage for a meezly $180.

Excellent Sales Experience, Fantastic Price and Vehicle

by adam78 on 08/27/2010

I could not be more pleased with my sales experience or purchase with Chapman Mazda. The staff were friendly, professional, and downright pleasant to work with. I was so frustrated with my previous visits to dealers across the valley that I was ready to give up and try to find a private buyer. That would have been a major mistake. Chapman Mazda made my previous frustrations go away. Mike McClaskey, Tim Murphy and helpful salespeople like Ali have turned me into a dedicated customer. I will be driving 15 miles out of my way just to get an oil change from now on so I can continue to support a dealership that so responsive to their customers. The reviews from over a year ago were so unlike the experience I had that I needed to set the record straight. Thanks guys, see you in 4,653 miles.

New management

by cassie1220 on 04/09/2010

We just bought a new car 10 days ago and had a great experience! Everyone we dealt with was polite, professional and worked their hardest to get us the vehicle we wanted at a price we could afford. The dealership has a new GM who must be doing something right because this was the best car dealership we experienced. We went to every dealership on Bell rd in Peoria looking for the perfect car that had everything I wanted. I wish we would not have wasted our time. Dan and Patrick at Chapman Mazda were the only ones who were willing to put the time and effort into helping us find the car that would fit 2 adults and 3 kids and frequent nephews that had an excellent rear air conditioner that was NOT a MINIVAN. Call it a midlife crisis i don't care but I can be a mom in comfort without having to announce to everyone that I've given up on being cool. If you tried them in the past you might just want to stop back by and see the difference. If you haven't been there and your looking for a good deal i definitely recommend you give them a try. They seemed to like the challange.

Horrible Professionalism

by zab23 on 06/17/2009

I had to call 3 different employees, 2 managers, and a total of 6 different times in order to get any information that was similar or semi accurate about their vehicle and my trade-in. Every time I called the story changed on #1 why I wasn't called back ("I didn't realize it was that late"-"Oh I'm sorry I got really tied up"-"Oh my gosh I don't know what happened to everything I had on my desk"). I have purchased over 15 vehicles from 4 different states and I've never been treated of such insignifacance in my life. This is suppose to be a buyer's market and the economy is supposedly in a recession, so you would think you would have motivated individuals at least trying to sell you a car or make attempts to call you back. After all, I was pre-approved with my own financing for 5K over what their saying they can meet, so funds was not an issue. I truly hope that TOP MANAGEMENT READ THIS and see what a lousy job their Mazda dealership salesman has conducted themselves and portrayed such a lack of motivation, professionalism, laziness, and utter rudeness, towards helping a qualifyied motivated buyer. I am a military member and will defenitly be letting my chain of command know to strongly recommend not referring their soldiers to this dealership. I recommended that this dealership be put on the "black list" and I and two other individuals have filed a formal compaint to the BBB on this matter.

Dealer misrepresents fees and options and reneges on sales contract

by baron6033 on 02/18/2009

I purchased a used car in December 2008 from Chapman Mazda. Two weeks before my temporary license expired, the sales manager called and told me that I owed him an additional $166 for the vehicle's registration. This dealership had only allocated $99 for the vehicle registration in the original sales document. It should have been $266. Two reasons this could happen: 1) it was intentional or 2) the dealership is incompetent. There was no apology made for what the sales manager called the dealership's "mistake"; he just made threats that I would not receive my vehicle title until it was paid. Any reputable business would cover its "mistake" to maintain customer satisfaction. He claims the license fee was only an estimate. An "estimate" is not wrong by 166%! Since I suspected this was done intentionally to make me pay for a fee called VTR (window etching and limited insurance for $228!), which I was told was part of the vehicle tax (its similarity to AZ's VLT is no coincidence). I refused to pay this amount and he withheld my title so that I could not register it myself. I asked for the $99 license fee refund and title multiple times so that I could register the car before the temporary license expired. He would not comply. This dealership is very disreputable and I have complained to the AZ Attorney General's office and the Better Business Bureau. In addition, the vehicle was advertised with a multi-CD player and spoiler. It does not have either option. There was no offer made to compensate me for the lack of these options. This is the worst car buying experience I have encountered in 35 years

Don't Waste Your Time

by dstudenick on 10/31/2007

I had worked a deal with this dealership through a broker. In parallel with working with the broker, I was soliciting quotes from local dealerships. I had no idea the broker was working with these guys. Anyway, I was going to take delivery of the car today and it was being driven to the broker's facility so he could deliver to me and the GM quashed the deal. Why did he do this? He said that because they had quoted me a price over the internet, they expected me to come in and pay that price and not the broker's negotiated price. Bottom line: the broker blacklisted this dealership and I will never do business with them ever. I don't think you should do business with them either. They were willing to renege on a deal with a broker who buys more cars than a private buyer so there's little reason to doubt they'll renege on a deal with you as well.
