no one told it it was a truck

2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport 4dr Double Cab 6.1 ft. SB (3.5L 6cyl 6A)
First off as I still have my 14 year old Ranger, there has been a learning curve, a big one. First off love the truck, and it is easy to enjoy. Used it for work the first week I owned it and while it was not as easy to do the job as it was in the Ranger it filled in well, and had no problems. Truck rides nicer than the Ranger and is gawd awful quick compared to the Ranger. While the … Ranger ride is very truckish, the Tacoma is much smoother and is much more comfortable. I am still learning all the bells and whistles, but I find a lot of them very useful. the climate control system took some getting used to, but does its job very well. I am not impressed with the Sirius System and could very well live without it. In fact I will be cancelling g it shortly, as it is so limited in choices. Have not had to use four wheel drive much so far, but when I did it was flawless, and easy to use. Little bit fuel hungry, but this is off set by performance. No one told my truck that it was a pick up truck, as it loves to whoop up on those pesky lil Beer Can Racers, the ones that are souped up mini cars, which is kinda fun. While not as powerful as the Mustang 5.0 I liked, it will get you in big ticket area rel quick. I am also impressed by it have a class 4 towing package. Over all very pleased with mine.

Toyota please please please change your shift points for the transmission to be above 1000rpm. The 3.5l engine does not have enough torque to be smooth at that rpm. If you sneeze while in gear at 1000rpm it will downshift. ECT power mode is great which changes the transmission to the correct shift points but you have to turn that on every time you start the vehicle. I don't want to be … one of those haters who just says the transmission sucks because I don't believe that. I just think the ECU programming for the trans shift points if off of what it should be. My recommendation is to put out a TSB that gives people the option to bring it in if they want to perform the transmission shift point change or not. Very close to being a perfect truck but not quite yet or at least until we see that TSB come out.
Well worth the switch over from the 2013 Tacoma

2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport 4dr Double Cab 6.1 ft. SB (3.5L 6cyl 6A)
I had a 2013 Tacoma which was a fantastic truck and did very well for me with all the heavy use I put it through. I had always wanted the Toyota truck to step up to more automated features, a sunroof like the old ones had, and heated seats etc. I decided to trade it in for the new TRD sport long bed 4x4 with Technology package. I have not been disappointed.
The new truck is far quieter, … more roomy in feel, better looking and great and awaited options. I have been overall impressed and happy that I had made the change.
There is a lot of feedback talking about the poor acceleration and I have to say that I agree that it is not a spunky as my old truck however; it is not enough to sway my thoughts on the new truck. I am also dissatisfied that they do not include mud flaps as standard equipment when you are paying the higher price for this vehicle. Lastly, purchasing the long bed and desiring the tonneau cover that is available on the short bed, Toyota is slow on getting some of the after market products out to the public and at a much higher cost for the new truck.
After having the truck for 7 months now, I am still as happy with the truck as when I purchased it. I have taken several long trips in the truck and I pull a trailer and quad. While going over steep inclines I just feel that the transmission is more noticeable as it has to shift more often to make the grade and at higher RPM's. Still very satisfied with this vehicle.
