You're going to love the new 2026 Hyundai Palisade. It builds upon the success of the previous model and adds a nicer interior, updated tech and an even more premium third-row experience. Sluggish acceleration is one of its few faults.Read full review
The Palisade is Hyundai's largest gas-powered SUV, and it's fully redesigned for 2026. The first-generation Palisade set a new standard for the midsize three-row crossover class, and we're happy to report that the revamped version does it again. Step inside the 2026 Hyundai Palisade and you're greeted by a cabin chock full of upscale materials, expert craftsmanship and more features than any other competitor. This SUV is also incredibly roomy; offers a comfortable, serene ride; and, as always, comes with Hyundai's industry-leading warranty. The Palisade has a few faults, but overall, it delivers an elevated experience almost everywhere.
Hyundai has always played a strong value game; even if a Hyundai vehicle's price wasn't the lowest among competitors, you'd always get more features for the money. The 2026 Palisade continues that tradition, but it also delivers the unexpected, especially in the top-trim Calligraphy trim level. A massaging driver's seat with thigh extension, front and rear dash cams, a germ-destroying sterilization bin, power-adjustable second-row captain's chairs, power recline and sliding for the heated third-row seats — the list goes on. And you'll find few or none of these features in other three-row SUVs. In a world where rivals are content to tick boxes off a checklist, the Palisade strives to surprise.
Competitors to consider
For all of the Palisade's excellent qualities, it does stumble in areas where rivals shine. Its cargo area isn't the biggest, and if you need to haul a heap of gear, the Toyota Grand Highlander and Volkswagen Atlas will do just that. If the Palisade with its standard V6 doesn't offer the performance you crave, check out the smaller, nimbler and more athletic Mazda CX-90, which offers a pair of potent turbocharged engines. Want to go green? The Grand Highlander offers two fuel-sipping hybrids in its lineup, or you can wait a little longer for the forthcoming Palisade Hybrid. The Kia Telluride continues to be a very popular pick as well.

Very Good
7.7
out of 10
We drove the 2026 Hyundai Palisade on our test track and on real roads. Our Edmunds team conducts rigorous independent vehicle testing, driving 500,000 miles a year.
Driving experience
7.1/10
How does the Hyundai Palisade drive? The Palisade could benefit from more power. At the Edmunds test track, our loaded Calligraphy trim test vehicle needed a sluggish 8.8 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph. That makes the Palisade one of the slowest three-row SUVs on the market. The transmission is also slow to downshift, so expect to wait for something to happen when you mash the gas. On the upside, the Palisade has a super comfortable ride. No matter the road surface, the Palisade sort of glides over it all without transmitting harshness to the cabin.
The Palisade's large windows help ensure excellent visibility all around. The rearview camera and available 360-degree camera system have high-resolution displays and don't lag or stutter. The Palisade offers nearly every advanced driver aid, and most of them worked well in our testing. The exception was the lane-centering feature, which allowed the vehicle to bounce excessively between the lane markers rather than keeping a steady line.
Comfort
8.4/10
View interior photos
How comfortable is the Hyundai Palisade? The front seats are comfortable and have a lot of adjustments. There's also a lot of headroom and legroom up front, but the low-mounted steering wheel makes it hard for tall drivers to enter and exit gracefully.
You'll also like the Palisade if you frequently take along rear passengers. There's enough room for even tall passengers to be comfortable. It's also good for parents with small children. The safety seat LATCH anchors are easily accessible, and lots of vertical headroom means it's pretty easy to install a car seat without hitting your head. You can easily fit a rear-facing seat without encroaching on the front passenger's space. The Palisade is also available with power-adjustable third-row seats, so you can recline and even slide the seats back for maximum comfort.
The interior is cleverly designed. The climate control panel is an intuitive mixture of physical knobs and digital buttons, and the system itself keeps the cabin cool on a hot day. The Palisade is also supremely quiet; you'll hardly ever notice the hum of the engine on the highway.
In-cabin tech
9.7/10
How’s the tech? You access most of the Palisade's controls by using the touchscreen. The interface is easy to understand and has a logical menu structure that won't cause you to break out the owner's manual. Everything is thoughtfully laid out, and the large screen means the virtual buttons aren't crowded.
The Palisade also has wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and our test Palisade had seven USB ports spread throughout the cabin along with a wireless charging pad up front. The luxe Calligraphy trim also comes with front and rear dash cams, which would be impressive even for a luxury SUV.
How’s storage and cargo? We don't know what kind of bizarre TARDIS magic is at work here, but the Palisade's cargo space is just OK considering how big it is overall. Cargo volumes of 19.1 cubes behind the third row to 86.7 cubes behind the first row is slightly better than the Toyota Highlander but well below the capacities of the VW Atlas and Grand Highlander. But the usefulness of the available power-operated second and third rows is undeniably useful.
Interior storage is excellent. The large front storage area can accommodate tall items and still keep a reasonable amount of gear out of sight. The underarm storage bin is also pretty big. The door pockets aren't gigantic but will hold a few knickknacks.
Value
9.5/10
Is the Hyundai Palisade a good value? The 2026 Palisade sets the bar for interior design and materials. Hyundai spared no expense, giving the new version a cabin replete with soft-touch materials, aluminum, textiles and leather. Get the saddle brown interior if you can — the gorgeous detailing gets a little lost if you opt for black.
All this comes at a cost, however. The Palisade is one of the priciest three-row SUVs on the market. But you get a lot of standard features that are optional in entry-level competitors, while the range-topping Calligraphy is loaded with gear you won't find in non-luxury rivals. Hyundai also continues to offer the best warranty in the business: five years/60,000 miles basic and 10 years/100,000 miles for the powertrain.
How’s the fuel economy? The 2026 Hyundai Palisade with all-wheel drive carries an EPA estimate of 20 mpg combined. This is similar to what you'll get from a Kia Telluride or Honda Pilot, though the Mazda CX-90 offers a relatively more enticing 25 mpg combined (along with more power). If you want something much less thirsty, consider buying the upcoming Palisade Hybrid.
X factor
10/10
While the new Palisade's looks might not be for everyone, we give Hyundai credit for making something that stands out from the crowd. The Palisade's interior is also exceptional. We think this is a very impressive vehicle that will win you over with its style and practicality. There's even an off-roady X-Pro model should your aspiration for adventure exceed the cutthroat Costco parking lot.
2026 Hyundai Palisade trim level differences
The 2026 Hyundai Palisade is a three-row midsize SUV available in seven trims: SE, SEL, SEL Convenience, SEL Premium, XRT Pro, Limited and Calligraphy. All are powered by a 3.5-liter V6 (287 horsepower, 260 lb-ft of torque) paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, with all-wheel drive optional for all trims except for the XRT Pro — it has standard AWD. A second-row bench seat that provides seating for eight is standard on the SE and optional for the SEL and SEL Premium. All trims except the SE come standard with second-row captain's chairs that reduce seating to seven.
Which Palisade trim does Edmunds recommend?
There are two trims in the Palisade's lineup that stand out. The midtier SEL Premium offers pretty good value for the money; it's a couple of steps up from the base model but has a few features that are tough to find on rival SUVs, including ventilated second-row seats and both blind-spot and surround-view parking cameras. It's a great way to get a lot of desirable goodies without breaking the bank. On the other end is the top-spec Calligraphy. It's one of the most expensive models in this class, but it comes with features that you won't find anywhere else — that is, unless you upgrade to a luxury SUV. A massaging driver's seat with an extendable thigh rest, winged second-row headrests, synthetic suede headliner and a remote parking function are among its many highlights.
