I love it, but not a minivan replacement

Bought the '06 Pilot EXL to replace a minivan. My wife wanted 4-wheel drive capability and I was not sold on the Sienna AWD. Simply not as convenient as a minivan to haul around 3 kids and a lab. Not as much room or comfort as a minivan and the sliding doors of a minivan are a lot easier for the kids to get in and out of. Bottom line - it was a mistake to get the Pilot over a minivan, even an AWD Sienna. With that said, it is still an awesome vehicle and anyone looking for a mid- size SUV should have this as #1 on their list.

Purchased our 2006 Pilot EX-L used in 2014 with 119k miles. Great car for around town, road trips and home depot 😂. The engine is great and the leather interior is nice. What’s HORRIBLE are all four windows. They take turns falling down in the door frame without notice. We’ve had to replace a four a couple of times. Our auto glass place said what holds up the glass is CRAP! Even the Honda dealer only gives a one year guarantee on the replacement. Seriously!!! We have never experienced anything like this with a car. There are plenty of complaints about this on the internet, even a failed class action lawsuit, but Honda won’t admit there is an issue and they won’t take any responsibility for it. Oh, but they will charge $400 per window to fix it until if fails again.

I purchased my 2006 Honda Pilot 2WD six months ago as the 2nd owner. My Pilot had 218,000 and I put 12,000 miles on it in six month using it as a daily driver and for Lyft. I have replaced the alternator thus far. I am satisfied with my Pilot thus far. It cranks all the time and drives well. I'm hoping to get 300,000 miles.

Safety ratings won me over

I bought my Pilot just 5 months ago with 42,000 miles on it. It lacked some of the exterior style elements of the competition, but the interior features seem to fit our lifestyle better. The determining factor was the safety rating. This vehicle won out, hands down! Lucky for me, because last week I totaled my poor Pilot. This vehicle did exactly what it was supposed to do. Protect the occupants. My car's front end was totally smashed, the hood was folded nearly as high as the roof and I was protected in the cab. Other than bruises from the restraints and air bag deployment I am fine and totally amazed. So now the painful part, finding another one.

We bought this 2006 Honda Pilot with 14,000 miles on the odometer and could not be more pleased. The Pilot now has 216,000 miles on it and runs as good as the day we bought it. Maintenance over the years has been brakes , rotors , a timing belt at 140,000 miles. Other than standard upkeep , the radiator was replaced ( pin hole leak ) and an alternator around 200,000 miles. We still make comfortable trips from Ma to Nyc.It is still the vehicle of choice when transporting the grandchildren to various functions ,soccer and hockey games. We have even had two adults in the third row seat for one of our evenings out. We will now look at a 2016 Pilot because my daughter wants this one. Great Car. Hope the new Pilot is as good.
