This is the best vehicle I've ever owned. There have been many of all genres and price. Since 2008 there have been many technological advances. However at the time my CR-V was on the leading edge. It is comfortable, economical, and trouble free. The beautiful red makes it a standout My CR-V just turned ten years old. I recently returned from a 5500 mile trip from my home in SoCal to Nashville and Back stopping along the way to visit friends in Missouri, Texas and New Mexico. The CR-V performed flawlessly while returning an average 29 mpg. While it lacks some of the technological advances and amenities of new models the only thing I would truly add is a bluetooth interface for my phone. Mechanically, the starter needed to be replaced @83500 miles as well as the brakes. Not bad for ten years. Twelve years and 95000 plus miles now on my CRV. Still gets lotsa tlc looks and drives like new. Took an 8000 mile trip from SoCal to DC with many side trips and pushed 30 mpg on the highway. Still love the design. Doesn’t look outdated like some of it’s competitors of the era. 97500 miles now in 10/21. Still looks and performs like day one. Gas mileage still decent. I’m still impressed by my CRV. I’d recommend these to anyone looking for a solid, dependable, vehicle. Plenty room for people and cargo. 4/22. Just snuck up on 100K miles. My major expense has been for the milestone maintenance suggested for achieving the 100K miles. I’m still loving my CRV. Shines like new inside and out. Runs like a champ. Have to say that mileage and performance have improved a bit since the “tuneup”. UPDATE: I’ve had my CR-V for fourteen years now. I still love it. I keep up with the factory maintenance schedule. Replace the brakes, tires, etc as required. The pain and interior look like brand new. At 101k miles my lil red wagon still gets an honest 23mpg city and 30 at highway speeds. The amenities are lacking compared to new models. No info center, blue tooth, or collision detection systems. I have never kept a car for this length of time but it is still fun to drive and has had no issues. The styling is classy and doesn’t look out of place among newer models. I recommend this model highly. Update 2023: I still love the CRV. I’m still keeping it’s beautiful red finish shined and vacuumed One detail is the black finish on the vertical post. Its finish has deteriorated over the past few years. Just recently I found out that the posts are pieces. Not painted. The grey interior looks like new and still very comfortable. The 103000 miles doeo show much use since last year. I think of trading but why? The entertainment center that’s it! Otherwise it has all I need.

I absolutely still think this is the most reliable and wonderful car i have ever owned... it's hard to believe, but i have never had any major work done on it at all! Not even brakes or anything else... i change the oil and filter every four or five thousand, have replaced all fluids (transmission, radiator, etc), and replaced spark plugs just one time! in 171k miles!! unbelievable! I know this is one of the Hondas that will make it to 250k; i would not be surprised! It still has no problems passing cars even going up hills... this is a champ! Other than the rear seats and how they fold up (designed in a way it takes up way too much room), and the gas mileage, i have no complaints! This car is absolutely amazing, the best, most reliable car i've ever owned. Still drives close to brand new with nearly 130K on it! The only reason someone would get a new car after owning this (if they took great care of it from the beginning) is if they got bored.... I bought this new ($25K) and have babied it all throughout its life. As a result I've got a wonderful, reliable car as a result! Hooray!

Two years of ownership

It's been almost two years since I got the '08 CR-V LX AWD. I now have 34k miles on it. Two trips to the dealer, one for minor rattles, another for rusty/fused brakes (parked at the airport for 2 weeks). Tires are about to be replaced, brakes are at 40%, handles well in the rain and snow. Average fuel economy (measured for the full tank) has been around 22, with the worst of 19 in the city driving and best of 27 on highway. Sometimes I average 30+ mpg for a 40-50 mile trip. CR-V drives very car-like and has good handling, but sometimes I wish it has a manual transmission, as automatic can be hesitant sometimes.

Has been a very satisfying vehicle. Have had a few problems with suspension, starter and steering but they were taken care of. No new issues as of 8/8/2020. Ditto this review as of 8/16/2022 Had an oil leak at about 180K miles. An air conditioner issue is currently nagging.

Long Term Review of 2008 Honda CRV LX 2wd

My 2008 Honda CRV LX 2wd is nearing 110K miles. Paid $17K brand new in 2008. The vehicle is a no thrill people mover. Interior material is average for the time and holding up. Oil and Transmission fluid changes are easy. Oil change interval 5K miles and transmission change intervals done every 15K miles. After a couple of years the interior has developed a rattle and at stops in drive the motor has some vibration (motor mount design). The CRV has enough power for on freeway acceleration. Kept everything standard, no upgrades. Normal things I have done: -Front and rear brakes (finally after 100K miles on them) -New rotors -New Shocks and struts (front back)
