Ford spark plug problems
Really have liked the truck bought new and its many features. Truck is a supercab and it's very comfortable. However it's latest feature - spark plugs that blow completely out of the engine- have really changed my mind about Ford's build quality or lack thereof. Not only is it absurd that a spark plug can blow out of the engine but equally absurd how much it costs to repair. Ford recommends replacing the defective aluminum head with a new defective aluminum head rather than owning up the problem and recalling the many vehicles with their modular engine. Just search 'blown out spark plug' and witness the amount of complaints with both trucks and cars with this engine.
Like driving a cloud.
After driving my old '87 Ranger for over 13 yrs. it was such a pleasure to get in and drive this machine. ('04 F150 XLT 4x4 Supercab) A comparison between the two is like night and day. Now i even look for reasons to drive it.
Ford tough with a few extra rattles
I have a 2004 F150 that I bought in 2015 with 67,000 miles. 5.4 cam phaser knock and rust on the rear quarter panel as is typical for cars in this area...especially ford trucks. I now have 97,000 miles and other than the noisy phasers, I’ve had absolutely zero problems with it. Been a Chevy guy all my life until the 5.3 and 6.3 engines completely crapped out on two consecutive Yukon’s...sorry Chevy, not coming back and just bought another ford truck this weekend

'04 F150 4x4
I have the '04 XLT supercab w/4wd and the 5.4L. Highly recommend the truck. Ride is excellent, makes our Jeep Grand Cherokee seem like a Wrangler. Power is pretty good,(not quite like the Dodge Hemi I tested). Plently of torque for towing though. It gets about 16 mpg on my regular mixed driving routine. I actually got slightly over 18 mpg on a long highway trip! Have had a couple of minor cosmetic/fit & finish complaints, about what I expected from a new model.
F-150 is Excellent
This vehicle is by far the best truck in class. After using the other makes of truck including the imports, F-150 is #1. I run a decent trapline every fall and winter, and use it for everyday driving as well; couldn't ask for better in any category. The truck has not let me down yet, and I don't expect it will. After two years I am still as thrilled as I was the day I bought it.
