2019 Toyota Tacoma SR 4dr Double Cab 4WD 5.0 ft. SB (3.5L 6cyl 6A)
2019 4 door A/T SR5 3.5l 4WD, stock suspension and tires. 10,100k as of today.
I'll admit, I drive like a bat out of hell on 4x4 trails. 23% grade in 2 wheel drive and it handled it fine in summer weather. It's also my daily commuter. Ticks me off there's no ashtray, so I put my own in.
Enough horsepower to get up an 18% grade on a local major highway at 65+/hr without a sneeze. I've … hauled other vehicles up to the top of roads that have broken down or gotten stuck with it (Jeep drivers.... LOL.). Have owned exclusively Yotas for 8 years now.
I'm aware of the Otto/Atkinson engine and it does take about 1.5 seconds of having the gas pedal on the floor to react, but once it's calculated nothing stops it.
I will say it's often very cold up here, and the double oil cooler means it takes the engine 18+ minutes to get warm enough to send hot steady air, so get an ice scraper. If there was a sensor connected to engine temp that only cycled the oil through the double cooler system when the engine is already warm, that would help dearly with this.
My kids and dog love the 4 doors, plenty of cab room for at least what I have to do in the truck (drive in it).
Bells and whistles I really don't care. It's all about the engine, transmission, suspension, and drive train for this one.
Haven't had a single issue yet. GO YOTA!
Great truck, well optioned.

2019 Toyota Tacoma SR 4dr Double Cab 4WD 5.0 ft. SB (3.5L 6cyl 6A)
Just purchased this truck this week. I am very impressed with the build quality and resale values. This is my third Toyota after 30 plus years of the big three and several lemons in a row. No more upside down!! I have not been disappointed with my previous Highlander and Corolla, but needed a truck so decided on the Taco. Fit and finish are impressive. This is the SR with crew cab, V6 … and 4x4. It is not the fancier versions but is still impressively quipped. It handles very well, is super quiet and looks great!! I chose this one since it is the last year before the redesign and I was able to get the numbers that I wanted. I intend on keeping it as long as possible. I can't wait to tow my camper this season with it!!

2019 Toyota Tacoma SR 4dr Double Cab 4WD 5.0 ft. SB (3.5L 6cyl 6A)
Update 1/5/2022: I traded the truck last year for a Ram 1500. I ultimately chose not to trust that transmission shudder past the OEM warranty, especially since the dealer blew me off. I won’t buy another one. The Ram, however, I feel is a much better vehicle. Drivetrain is very stout especially behind a Hemi. And? No transmission shudder!! ;-)
The good: As stated, very capable offroad, … Ground clearance and drivetrain components are more than adequate to get you into and back out of the woods. Part-time transfer case is stout. 4H and 4L work without issue. Suspension is tight and quiet. Engine has plenty of power. Seats are comfortable as I am 5'9. Some of the complaints I see are from taller people. I would certainly recommend that anyone looking to buy one of these try it out first! Drive it to see if you are comfortable!
The bad: The transmission. Let me be clear: THE TRANSMISSION. TOYOTA, I know you read these so pay attention!! I have been to the dealer and received the standard "They all do that" answer, which I confirmed by driving several of them. However, just because "they all do it", does NOT mean that we, as customers, find it acceptable. Here is what happens: Normal "D" position, from 45-63mph, approx. 1200 engine RPM, throttle tip-in on a slight grade, the transmission shudders (almost feels like a stumble). It wants to shift but cannot. Push the accel further it upshifts and shudder stops. I am a former powertrain warranty engineer for one of the big three so I know what I am talking about. It irritates me. I can reproduce it 100% of the time. I bought the truck new; it now has 30k miles on it and it has always done this. Look me up on tacoworld name WireEd if you want further detail. Toyota Engineering: Please fix this issue. I will be happy to help you troubleshoot it. Thank you.

Which Tacoma does Edmunds recommend?
The topped-out TRD Pro and Limited trim levels are the most appealing of the Tacoma offerings, but they're also the most expensive. So, if you're looking for great value alongside great capability, we recommend the TRD Off-Road trim level. It comes with the upgraded V6 powertrain and can be had in both extended-cab or crew-cab configurations. It is also available with an impressive suite of comfort features such as heated front seats, dual-zone climate control and an upgraded JBL stereo.

Driving
7.5The Tacoma's powertrain is its weak point on the road due to an overly shifty transmission. But the truck makes the right moves for an outdoorsy 4x4 that does not care whether the road is paved or not. Brake modulation could be better on-road. In the unpaved realm, the Tacoma stands out.
Comfort
7.5This Tacoma rides smoother and has better noise isolation than the previous model, and it excels compared to the competition, too. The seats are comfortable, but the seating position is unusual in order to maximize ground clearance. It's more of an entry issue, though, than a comfort one.
Interior
7.0The attractive interior is also nicely laid out, with easily understood and effective controls. There's plenty of space up front, though headroom isn't top-hat worthy. The most significant shortcomings are the relatively tall step-up to get into the cabin and the odd driving position.
Utility
7.5The Tacoma's bed is a model of usefulness. Its relatively low and short sides make for an easier reach than the Colorado, and its numerous bed accessories are available across many trims. Cabin storage is decent in variety, though none of the nooks are particularly large.
Technology
7.0The Tacoma is a mixed bag when it comes to tech features. It's great when it comes to active safety gear because it's all standard. But audio-related tech is another ballgame — one that Toyota is losing. The Tacoma's approach to smartphones and smartphone integration is simply way out of touch.
