I love this car! It is the most reliable and inexpensive car I've owned. I plan on keeping this car for many more years. I love when I have to park it because it's small enough to fit in those tight spots. The backup camera is a plus and it's pretty good in the snow as long as you have good tires. I know eventually I'll have to replace the battery but I intend to keep it since the body of the car is in such great shape. I would highly recommend owning a Prius.

Bought it used at 25000 miles. Now have 170000 from all over the Eastern lower 48. It gets the best gas mileage in 90+ degree hot weather. I've gotten 50 mpg on several tankfuls driving interstates in Florida and Georgia. In cooler spring/fall weather it get about 41 mpg, except in the mountains of Kentucky and Tennessee where I average over 46 mpg. The hills improve the mileage and it accelerates up the hills better than most of the traffic. In 10 degree winter weather it only gets about 35 mpg until it warms up after an hour or so. It has been extremely low maintenance requiring only headlights and brakes at 110000 miles, not counting 12 tires and oil changes. I'm most impressed by the cargo capacity. I gave three 300+ pound passengers a tour of lower MI. It braked well and still got 45 mpg that week. For a project I hauled a dozen 8ft 2x4s between the seats. For another I hauled 14 bags of mulch. While moving I squeezed in 6 dining table chairs and a mountain of miscellaneous. It is noticeably cheaper to to use the Prius to run tools and parts to job sites than use the the gas hog pick-up. On the down side the plastic panels on the underside have torn loose on some rough MI terrain and needed jury-rig repairs, but all in all it is a moderately tough vehicle and great for my budget. Since it has not rusted and has no trade in value I will happily continue to abuse it for a couple more years

You wouldn't believe me if I told you but I'm going to anyway...I was able to fit a full size refrigerator in my Prius. That's right. There is so much more space inside than what it appears to have from outside. I am a locksmith in Panama City, fl. And I use my Prius as a service vehicle. Having more than enough space in the back (without folding seats) to accommodate all of the tools and equipment required to do my job, and the way I have it configured, I can store supples, locks, etc. in a cabinet beneath my machines. This car is amazing! It has more than paid for itself with the extensive city driving I do and with a lumbar pillow, is plenty comfortable for driving the 8+ hrs a day!

I had done so much research on the Prius that I was totally confident in my purchase. I have been so disappointed in some of the design features. The rear window is difficult to see out of because of a bar running horizontally across ... the dash dims when the headlights are turned on, making it difficult to see how fast you are going, and the dash is difficult to see in bright sunlight. The car salesman raved about the new seat fabric, but it is already stained. I would have preferred leather, but was talked out of it. Of course, the gas mileage can't be beat, but it's a shame the other elements don't measure up.
Great Vehicle...Even in Wisconsin!

We have only owned our Prius for a short time and I can only say good things about it so far. It handles great in all weather conditions. We live in Wisconsin and experience snow every few days, which has been no problem. Fuel economy is great although slightly lower, but not significantly, in the winter weather. It is a very fun car to drive. I am 6'5" 240 pounds and fit comfortably driving and sitting in the passengers seat. Very roomy. I have not experienced any of the phantom shut offs or anything along those lines. The glare on the screen that people talk about has been a non-issue. The lights being dim on the dash is solved by adjusting the dimmer switch until they are super bright.
