The 2020 Infiniti QX60 is the upscale twin of the Nissan Pathfinder and has the materials and build quality appropriate for the luxury segment. But instead of a rough-and-tumble SUV, the QX60 is more of a tall wagon or a minivan equipped with conventional doors. It's quiet, roomy, and easy to change up the interior to accommodate people and cargo.

2020 Infiniti QX60 Review
Pros
- Quiet, comfortable cabin makes for a soothing ride
- Offers easy access to third-row seats
- Smooth transmission operation adds to the luxurious feel
- Plush ride quality makes long trips enjoyable
Cons
- Not as sporty as some other large luxury SUVs
- Desirable features are all extra and bundled into packages
- Off-road capability isn't part of its formula
- Third-row legroom is tight for adults
What's new
- There are no significant changes to the 2020 QX60
- Part of the first QX60 generation introduced in 2014
Overview

The Infiniti QX60 doesn't attract a lot of fanfare. It's a fairly non-distinct crossover SUV that, at least in automotive terms, has been around a while without any major changes. But there are still some solid reasons to give this 2020 QX60 a look.

For starters, the QX60's flexible seating arrangement lets you mix and match tall or long gear items with up to six other passengers. You can easily fold down the second-row seatbacks by pulling a lever. The third row is even easier — just push a button. A special feature of the second-row seats is that they have a flip-over mode that allows access to the third row even if there's a child seat installed in the second.
We also like that the QX60 goes down the road smoothly and ably absorbs most ruts and bumps. Its standard V6 engine doesn't possess particularly impressive stats for a luxury SUV — 295 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque — but it's effective and gets you up to speed when you need it to. Also notable is the QX60's continuously variable automatic transmission. This type of transmission often provides a slow and annoyingly elastic-like power delivery, but not here. The QX is well-calibrated for its mission and provides smooth, quiet power.
Still, there are downsides. The QX60's infotainment system isn't as flashy-looking as what you'll find in some competing SUVs. The same goes for the driving experience, which isn't particularly engaging. In general, European competitors such as the Audi Q7, BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE, and Volvo XC90 are a little sportier and come across as more refined and up-to-date vehicles. But if you don't need the latest and greatest in luxury SUV design, the QX60 will likely satisfy.

We drove the 2020 INFINITI QX60 on our test track and on real roads. Our Edmunds team conducts rigorous independent vehicle testing, driving 500,000 miles a year.
Performance
6.5/10
How does the QX60 drive? Some of Infiniti's sedans provide potent performance, but the QX60 is more focused on people-hauling and comfort. Its soft suspension and numb steering won't inspire anyone to take a sporting route to their destination, and they isolate the driver from the road. The suspension tuning is soft and sloppy, and that results in lots of body roll when going around turns.
The V6 and CVT automatic combination is smooth and quiet, though. In Edmunds testing, our test QX60 covered 0-60 mph in a respectable 7.3 seconds. Maximum braking power is also good, and the brake pedal is easy to modulate.

Comfort
8.5/10
How comfortable is the QX60? The QX60 is a quiet and comfortable people-mover. We like the stadium-like second-row seating, and the front-seat coolers are among the best we've experienced. The rest of the climate controls also work phenomenally well and are easy to use thanks to the hard buttons and menu interface.
Most importantly, the QX60's ride quality is smooth and comfortable. The QX60 also does a good job isolating road and wind noise. Even on rough pavement, it's easy to carry on a conversation without raising your voice.

Interior
7.5/10
How’s the interior? The QX60 has a luxurious and thoughtfully designed interior. Up front, you'll find plenty of headroom and very good elbow and shoulder room. The center armrest is nice and wide. The second row also has a good amount of knee room and slides back 5.5 inches, but it feels short on headroom. The third row has livable knee room and even reclines, a thoughtful touch.
The infotainment control knob is high on the dash. You'll need to make a deliberate glance and reach to use it. The touchscreen interface is a nice alternative, but it doesn't fully alleviate this issue. The menus are pretty intuitive to navigate at least.

Technology
6.5/10
How’s the tech? Although the optional navigation system comes with 3D building graphics, the system looks a little dated. It works well, but the clarity of the graphics is a step behind its competition. Pairing Bluetooth is a little clunky, too. The optional 13-speaker Bose audio system does not disappoint, though.
The automatic braking system works smoothly. It's like an adaptive cruise control system without the cruise function activated. Blind-spot monitoring, front and rear object detection, and lane departure warning are available but in separate packages.

Storage
7.5/10
How’s the storage? As with nearly all three-row SUVs, available cargo space is heavily dependent on how many passengers you're carrying. At 15.8 cubic feet, cargo room behind the upright third row is scarce, but it expands greatly with the seats folded. The button to bring the seats back up is a nice convenience. There's a decent amount of storage for small items within the cabin plus a bunch of cupholders.
For family duty, there are four lower car-seat anchors on the outboard seats of the second row and one set for the third row. Although you access the anchors between the seat cushions rather than under flip covers, there is plenty of room for seat installation and removal, with easy access to the third row.

Fuel Economy
7/10
How’s the fuel economy? The EPA rates the QX60 at 22 mpg in combined city/highway driving, which is pretty much in line with the rest of the class.
Value
7/10
Is the QX60 a good value? In its basic configuration, the QX60 offers decent value. But add a bunch of option packages and that appeal wanes, especially since options are bundled into high-priced all-inclusive packages rather than available individually. At least the build quality and materials are worth the money.
Wildcard
6/10
The QX60 doesn't quite fit in as an Infiniti in the traditional way. Its positives include a smooth ride, comfortable interior and an utterly quiet driving experience. But it lacks the style that we've come to expect from the Infiniti brand. Then again, they all can't be sports cars, can they?

2020 INFINITI QX60 trim level differences
The 2020 Infiniti QX60 is available in two trims and with front- or all-wheel drive. The Pure is the base model, and it comes with enough luxury equipment to make buyers stepping up to the QX60 happy. Those looking for more features will go for the Luxe trim. Not only does it feature more equipment, but it is needed to add a variety of driver assist, luxury and entertainment options to tailor the QX60 to suit the buyer's sensibilities and budget.
Which QX60 trim does Edmunds recommend?
Once you determine if you need all-wheel drive or not, the best setup for our money would be the Infiniti QX60 Luxe. It comes standard with an upgraded 13-speaker audio system, driver-seat memory settings, and a remote engine start system for not much more than the base model. Add in the Essential package for its upgraded seating material, navigation and surround-view camera system, and then opt for the ProAssist package to gain an excellent adaptive cruise control system, lane keeping assist, and front and rear parking sensors.

2019 INFINITI QX60 PURE 4dr SUV AWD (3.5L 6cyl CVT)
The wife loves it but there are a few things to consider before buying a 2019. If you do any routine maintenance yourself this is not the car for you. Simple things on other cars like changing a filter are complicated and difficult by design. For example, the cabin air filter which is usually easy is located under panels. You have to remove the panels on the passenger side of the dog … box then blindly stick your hand in there and fight to get it in and out. It is the only vehicle that I have ever had that even makes if tricky to check your own oil. If you do everything at the dealer you need to know that it is not service friendly. Like most modern cars it has synthetic oil. There are many benefits to synthetic oil like extended interval times on oil changes. Not on this. The book says 5000-7500 miles that is OK for synthetic blends but not for synthetic. Just a waste. The dealer insists on oil changes every 3000 miles. That is the norm for standard oil. When I mentioned that the advisor he said OK 5000 would be OK. Not OK as synthetics are typically changed every 10,000 miles. Feels set up to help the dealer make money that they shouldn't on maintenance. Also, it lacks basic features that you would find on most cars but expect on a luxury car. There is no digital speedometer, old school needle and gauge. No tire monitoring system. You would have to check the air in your tires with a gauge. There is an alert that comes on when a tire is low. It is noisy with pronounced road noise that you would expect in a budget car. So what I like about this car. Very impressive turning radius. It turns on a dime. It is comfortable. Some people might not like this but I do---the Pure model has faux (fake) leather for the seats. I noticed that after a year they are perfect with no wear, creases of marks. High quality vinyl that holds up well with kids, car seats and food everywhere. When driving at night there are some neat little lights in the cab that light up important areas like the drink holders and phone storage area. The charger in the phone storage area has a charging port that does not hook up to the radio so it does not turn off whatever is on. Lastly, a big factor for this purchase is the tremendous depreciation. We bought it 1 year of with 14K miles for $29K. The new ones of the same year had a sticker of $49K. So you save a whole lot when it is used but still feels new. My wife really loves it. I have not mentioned the things to her that I do not like as in the long run they don't matter. It is a good value used. It is a fancy Pathfinder so you get Nissan quality with a little ginger. It handles great in the snow we have AWD. Cannot be compared to other cars in its class like a Lexus or BMW. A good buy used due to the depreciation. I hope that they reviews helps someone decide. And------it looks good!

2020 INFINITI QX60 LUXE 4dr SUV AWD (3.5L 6cyl CVT)
Just bought a 2020 Infiniti QX60 Luxe. It comes standard with an upgraded 13-speaker audio system, driver-seat memory settings, and a remote engine start system for not much more than the base model. We added in the Essential package for its upgraded seating material, navigation and surround-view camera system, and then opted for the ProAssist package to gain an excellent adaptive … cruise control system, lane keeping assist, and front and rear parking sensors.
Innovative rear seating gives legitimate room to access 3rd row.
This car is quiet, good looking inside and out, so so comfortable, a great drive and a great value. Appreciate the 6 cylinder for quietness and ample power. Drove all compeditors: Mecedes GLE (Priced over 10k more beautiful inside but 4 cylinder engine is like a sewing machine, 6 cylinder is another +10 more), Kia Telluride (too large and not as comfortable), BMW 5 series which is way more expensive and tighter cabin, Lexus RX (can't stand the nose on that car and much smaller inside and more expensive), Acura MDX ( Very nice and a competitor but it came down to price for a similarly optioned car, Infinity is better looking IMO).
Infinity doing great deals as 2022 model is the next to come out in a year or so (will probably go the turbo 4 route like the QX50 though). Good warranty and bought 3 years service for about 1/2 price up front.
If you don't own a smartphone, it's a good car
3 out of 5 starsXanekka, 11/30/2018
2019 INFINITI QX60 PURE 4dr SUV (3.5L 6cyl CVT)
It's a good and spacious car. I like it as a thing that carries me from point A to B comfortably. The problem is I own a smartphone. I want to listen to podcasts when I drive. And the audio keeps cutting off. (It has a non-navi system to those who are interested.) My dealership people were nice, so I went to them to investigate this Bluetooth problem. Here's what I learned. Infiniti does … NOT support all the Bluetooth profiles and it does not support all the phones. Which is weird because Bluetooth is a standard and it's supposed to solve that problem. The solution that they recommended was to use a 3.5mm audio cable. Tough luck for me because the two phones that I own are Pixel 2 XL and iPhone 7 Plus. Neither have a headphone jack. So, the dealership recommended that I call the Infiniti Consumer Affairs. They troubleshoot me through a process which resulted in "you are using unsupported phones" for audio streaming? Okay, it's Nov 2018. One of my phones is a year old and the other two years. I like the car enough and I am already stuck in a lease, I might as well upgrade my phone, I thought. So, I asked the nice lady from the Infiniti Consumer Affairs, I am going to get a new phone. Please tell me which phone to get. I am open to switching carriers too. She was kind enough to go through the list for me. Let's start with Apple: iPhone XS (not supported), iPhone XS Max (not supported), iPhone XR (not supported), iPhone 8 (not supported), iPhone 8 Plus (not supported). Now, Google. None of the Pixel phones are supported. Next, Samsung. Note 9 (not supported), S9+ (not supported), S9 (not supported), S8+ (not supported), S8 (not supported). At that point, the poor lady from Infiniti Consumer Affairs gave up, rightly so and told me that I would get a call from the Infiniti Bluetooth division, which I haven't heard from yet! So, right now, I am driving around in a $46,000 "luxury" vehicle with technology from 2003. Again, it's a good car with a serious technology problem.
Comfort over sport

2019 INFINITI QX60 LUXE 4dr SUV AWD (3.5L 6cyl CVT)
Make sure you drive the vehicle at night, because the surround camera view does NOT employ the use of the lighted entry features offered with luxury options. In other words, the side looking cameras can't see anything at night and are completely blind unless there is a significant external light source where you're parking. Vehicle entry is also "old school" even though the car … illuminates nicely when you approach, you're still required to press a button to unlock doors, which is not the case in the lower model QX50 which automatically unlocks when you grab the handle. Also, the radio doesn't stay on when engine is turned off, unlike the lesser model QX50, it violently shuts everything off, and there is no way for you to go directly from running to Accessory mode. Infiniti advertises the Sensory package supports Dolby Digital 5.1 ("decoding"), but the stereo manufacturer (Bose) confirmed that this is false and an oversight by marketing, for that feature was removed back in 2017 in favor of a more "entire cabin friendly" surround solution. There are features that allow you to select a "driver centric" auditory configuration, but this falls way short of true surround as one might experience from the Bose Panaray system in other vehicles. Finally, make sure the dealer demonstrates everything in your potential purchase as there are audio and video AUX features that may, or may not work as advertised.
We have a limited number of reviews for the 2020 INFINITI QX60, so we've included reviews for other years of the QX60 since its last redesign.

Our experts like the QX60 models:
- Active Trace Control
- Attempts to maintain your desired path through a corner by selectively applying individual brakes.
- Distance Control Assist
- Pushes the accelerator pedal up or applies the brakes to maintain a desired following distance. But it's not an automated collision avoidance system.
- Backup Collision Intervention
