The 2026 Infiniti QX80 is the Japanese luxury brand's flagship SUV. Fully redesigned last year, the QX80 received a bold exterior design and a luxurious interior with a focus on tech and high-quality materials. To help move its considerable bulk, the three-row sport-ute is powered by a 450-horsepower twin-turbocharged V6, which also helps it tow up to 8,500 pounds.

We drove the 2026 INFINITI QX80 on our test track and on real roads. Our Edmunds team conducts rigorous independent vehicle testing, driving 500,000 miles a year.

Driving experience

How does it drive? The QX80's turbocharged V6 offers good low-end power for easy acceleration. The transmission shifts smoothly too. The biggest issue with the engine is its stop-start system. It's slow to turn the engine off when you come to a stop and then slow again when it's time to fire it back up. We expect this gas-saving feature to be a lot less intrusive on a luxury vehicle.

At more than three tons, the QX80 is very heavy. The brakes are up to the task, with relatively short panic stops in our performance testing. In most other areas, the QX80 feels like the big SUV it is. The steering requires some muscle, especially when parking. The air suspension keeps body motions in check, but there's some roll and lean in corners. While the QX80 is smooth and comfortable on the highway, its ride is too firm on city streets.

The QX80 is pretty easy to see out of, though the tall hood blocks the view ahead somewhat. The surround-view camera system offers many helpful angles to assist in parking.

Infiniti offers the QX80 with advanced driver aids, including limited hands-free highway driving. We found the system less refined than something like Super Cruise, which is found in the Cadillac Escalade.

Comfort

How comfortable is it? The QX80 has three rows of seating. Heated, ventilated and massaging seats are available for both the first and second rows; heating is available for third-row passengers. The seats are well padded and offer sufficient lateral support to hold you in place. The front seats offer a lot of adjustability, so you should be able to find your preferred driving position without issue.

The interior is spacious and attractive. The third row isn't huge, but adults should be comfortable in the rear for shorter journeys. It's easy to get in and out thanks to the power-sliding second-row seats and standard air suspension. The latter will lower the QX80 when parked to make it easier to get inside.

Installing a child seat is relatively easy, especially with the air suspension lowered. There are easily accessible anchors on both the second- and third-row seats, though less space in the latter for big seats compared to the back rows of other large SUVs.

The QX80 is quiet and isolating on the street. Unless you have the gas pedal floored, the engine makes hardly any noise. Wind and road noise is also fairly mild thanks to laminated windows and a well-insulated cabin.

In-cabin tech

How’s the tech? The QX80's infotainment system has a simple and responsive user interface with Google integration for voice commands, navigation and more. The Google integration works best if you connect a Google account, but having Google Maps alone is worth it. Wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is standard if you prefer to use your phone. There is a wireless charging pad and a bunch of USB-C ports spread across all rows, so charging on the go for any passenger shouldn't be an issue.

How’s storage and cargo? One of the biggest selling points for this class of body-on-frame SUVs is impressive towing capacity, and the QX80 doesn't disappoint. The Infiniti's 8,500-pound maximum tow rating outshines nearly everything else in this class short of the Jeep Grand Wagoneer and Lincoln Navigator.

The cargo capacity is somewhat limited for a large luxury SUV. With 22 cubic feet of space behind the third row, the QX80 trails the Cadillac Escalade and Jeep Grand Wagoneer. It's a similar situation with the second and third rows folded down. On the upside, there are plenty of places up front for small items like sunglasses, smartphones and parking passes.

Is it a good value? The QX80 delivers exceptional value, significantly undercutting competitors like the Lincoln Navigator and Lexus LX 600. While rear-wheel drive is standard on lower trims — unlike the standard 4WD offered by some rivals — Infiniti has made notable strides in other areas. Build quality is impressive, featuring high-quality paint and precise bodywork. The interior boasts premium materials, especially in upper trims, and includes innovative features like biometric cooling, which uses infrared sensors to detect body temperature and automatically adjust the air for second-row passengers.

Warranty coverage is robust, with a four-year/60,000-mile basic warranty and a six-year/70,000-mile powertrain warranty.

The 2026 Infiniti QX80 is a three-row luxury SUV that comes in four trim levels: Pure, Luxe, Sport and Autograph. The Pure and Luxe are offered in rear- or four-wheel drive; the Sport and Autograph are only available with four-wheel drive. All trims are powered by a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine (450 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque) connected to a nine-speed automatic transmission. Edmunds spotlight: Hands-free high rolling

Infiniti's ProPilot Assist 2.1, available only on the range-topping Autograph trim, is a suite of advanced driver aids that allows you to take your hands off the wheel and let the QX80 do the driving on certain stretches of highway. The system relies on an array of cameras, radar and other sensors working in concert with the navigation system to change lanes, slow down for upcoming curves, or exit the highway without input from the driver. To make sure you're not taking a nap behind the wheel, a driver-facing camera watches to make sure you're paying attention. If you're not, the system will disengage and you'll have to take over driving duties. We like the feature on the QX80 but found it to be less refined than the similar Super Cruise system in the Cadillac Escalade.

We have put 8000 miles on our QX80 Sensory. The comfort and ride quality are outstanding with little to no road noise. The transmission is smooth. The sound system is excellent. I have no complaints about the quality of the QX80 and it is superior to our previous Ford Expedition Platinum, which was a great vehicle.
