I went to the dealer with the intention on buying a Hyundai Value, Ruby Red after reading all of the Edmunds reports this car had everything I wanted, almost. During the test drive right off the 1.6 engine turned me off, with the noise and hesitation. I drove a ruby red sport awd and didn't like like it all, walked away. I wet back the next day and requested the dealer to find a fwd ruby red 2.4 eng. sport. They found a gemstone red fwd which i purchased. I like the way it drives, the quietness, comfort of the seats, elect drivers seat. The main thing that I am very irritated with is the radio, it has the cheapest sound system that I have ever listened to in a vehicle, very cheap sounding, low power range on picking up close stations, very disappointed in the radio. The cover over the AC/HEAT/HEAT info panel is very dark tinted and unable to read under normal conditions. Somewhere a long the way I lost it and bought the sport instead of the Value which was what I went to buy and missed out on a much better car. I don't like the sound system at all, very sorry, useless. I have driven the car fo 1yr. 6000 mi. Eng. is powerful' runs well on the freeway at reasonable rpm, but around town I have noticed it to be a little noisy on start up. I plan to change out the radio soon. Two oil changes without adding oil in between. Hyundai has yet to come up with a paint touch kit for the car paint color. Overall I like driving the tucson sport. Highway mileage 32 city 24.Update, I have had the car just over 2yrs. I love to drive the car. For quick results I drive in Sport but, normally I use the ECO option with very little difference in gas mi. The ride on the free way is very good, 75-80 is normal with me. After having to slow down it quickly reaches normal speed. Still like it very much. I have had no problems at all. Can’t change out radio, probably fine for people without hearing loss. Love the little car the more I drive it. It’s quick and Advils, turns sharp. Fun to drive, not a single problem so far.

We bought the car with 45,000 miles 2 years ago. Last weekend we were driving on the highway and heard a noise that sounded like a fan blade rotating that seemed to get louder with acceleration. No indicator lights came on so we figured we would get it home and call the mechanic in the morning to have it looked at. As soon as we exited the highway and came to a stop the noise changed to a very loud banging noise. Still no indicator lights. Started to turn onto our road as we were only a few blocks away from home and we had almost no acceleration. Mechanic says it’s a knock in the lower end of the motor and the motor needs replaced. The dealership can’t even look at it for almost a month to decide if the warranty will cover it. They don’t do loaner cars anymore so “if” they approve the warranty claim, then another department can try to help us get a rental covered. We had no indications there was a problem until it was catastrophic and from many claims it seems like Hyundai is well aware of the problem but does everything they can to deny the warranty coverage they brag so much about. Run do not walk away from this terrible vehicle as fast as you can

Unsafe 2018 Tucson

This car suddenly loses all power on the highway. It completely shuts itself off (or loses all power) forcing you to get it off to side of road. A few minutes later power comes back on by itself. Huge safety issue!! It also will not start some mornings. Car is kept outside. Few minutes later it will start. We replaced car fob batteries. Have taken in to dealer after each issue. They cannot find anything wrong. Do not buy this car. If you are driving on highway and it suddenly loses all electrical power it could cause an accident.

Good multi purpose vehicle. Summer or winter, a great compact sport utility car.

2018 Tucson Sport 2.4 AWD - Don't buy 1

The styling of the 2018 Tucson is nice. That's about it. the 2.4 has no power and if you want power it sounds like the motor is going to blow. Don't worry about the quart of oil it burns every 1500 miles that's Normal per Hyundai. It started burning oil around 40k now has 53k. Dealer said its because carbon has built up around the rings and can't make a tight seal in the cylinder. When it starts burning a quart every 1000 miles then the will look at it and put a chemical in each cylinder to try and break up the carbon. If that doesn't work then they will replace the short block. I'm glad I have all this time to waste with this car. I bought it brand new and have taken great care of it. The front grill has these great big gaping spaces in it to let all the air in to keep the engine cool it also lets all the rocks kicked up from the trucks and cars in front of you to put a whole in your AC coil. That isn't covered under the warranty either. That repair is $1300 dollars at the dealer. The AC coil is only like $150 dollars. Did I mention the horrible gas mileage it gets? I do mostly highway driving and I'm lucky if I get 20 mpg, more like 18 or 19mpg. The 19 inch low profile tires are expensive when they need to be replaced. So no more Hyundai for me.
