World'd Finest Minivan

2007 Honda Odyssey EX-L 4dr Minivan (3.5L 6cyl 5A)

This is a brilliantly designed car, and it handles beautifully on the road. It can accelerate impressively, has been very reliable, and is quiet and very comfortable. There is more space for people and cargo than with any other car that I have seen, with the exception of a Suburban (which handles like a big, clunky truck). The Odyssey handles like a luxury car. The flexibility of the 60/40 split 3rd row seat, and the way it simply folds into the floor, is wonderful. I test drove the newer style of the Odyssey, and the 2007 seems to have more interior cabin space. We are the original owners, and our children have grown up in this car. It has been wonderful to be able to fit our 3 children, plus 1 friend for each of them, when we use the optional 8th seat. We love having the option of having an 8th seat when we need it, or easily removing it (and storing it in the floor) when we don't. This car can't be beat for families!

What an Odyssey!

New in 2007: 1) Telescopic steering wheel(great if over 6') 2) Tire Pressure Monitor which alerts the driver if one of the tires experiences loss in air pressure 3) Coin Holder in center dash cup holders. The leather seats are very comfortable and the front captain seats offer electric heating for those in colder climates. The instrument panel is very intuitive & the design/lighting is the best I have viewed. Odyssey is filled with safety features from the front, side & curtain airbags along with sliding side doors that will stop if they encounter any resistance. VCM feature shuts down one bank of cylinders when coasting, thus increasing fuel economy. I highly recommend the Odyssey

Touring, Exploring & hauling more than groceries!

This is my 3rd Honda Odyssey, 2nd in this body style and 1st at this trim level. WOW! My original Odyssey was a 2003 EX-L, with power everything but no bells or whistles. Standard perks of this model: automatic doors & rear gate, parking/proximity sensors, 6 CD changer, DVD player & sunroof. Loved having a nice caddy below the middle row for storing jumper cables, extra bug spray, and hide treats for special events. SO MANY cup-holders and little places to store a variety of things! We bought this used, from a private seller. Things we didn't know at the time include a rebuilt title, and some prior mechanical issues. Even with those minor faults, we still had 3 great years of driving her. We added a large cargo box to the roof rack to extend our storage area (especially great for long road trips not having to fill the passenger area), and after-market rubber mats for all areas b/c we live in Alaska which means lots of snow, pea gravel and mud during certain times of the year. We've had up to 6 passengers plus the driver, all in total comfort for 8+ hr road trips. She's held 119 cases of Girl Scout cookies (could've fit up to 2 more, maybe 3), over 65 bags and boxes of donated items for a fundraiser. In short, she never let us down! I especially loved the V-6 engine for those crisp accelerations, and fantastic, clean handling. We had some minor repair issues, due more to the rebuilt title status than my original '03 Odyssey brand new off the dealer floor. But she started up every day, even in -50 temps, she warmed up quickly, and transported many days to school our kids (and others). I will miss the ease of her cargo flex space, and her safe carrying demeanor. Farewell my sweet old girl! Sold her with 127xxx miles to a family that is growing. Now it's time to find a Honda to train my kids how to drive! (probably getting them a used Fit) #hondaforlife

I purchased new in 07 after laborious research for a long term investment for family with little ones. This van has put up with the daily grind of private school drop-offs and pick-ups, grocery getting, kids sports activities and several trips to the Florida Keys from WI. Maintenance schedules were mostly followed and like any vehicle, parts do need to get replaced. (Alternator, A/C condenser, rear shocks) The first brake pad change was at 100k, and now at 70k on the same untouched rotors. The reliability has been great.....as expected from Honda. For errand running it is very easy for the driver to slide in & out. No rocker curb to lift your feet over and the drivers seat is perfect height (no falling into a car or pulling yourself out). Very easy to get baby seats in & out of the rear seats. as kids got older the electric sliding doors made kid drop-offs a breeze. Never had a problem with them and only God knows how many times they've opened and shut over the last 9 years. Adding a roof rack allowed enough storage for a family of 4 to tent camp for 10 days (1500 miles away). A recent $250 was spent updating the stereo to the Bluetooth era. Planning on keeping this vehicle for several more years. Dependable is the biggest quality. My only minor complaints is the road noise on the highway (not as quiet as a Cadillac). Also, the transmission shifting has always shuttered a bit between 2nd & 3rd (not too noticeable but curious).

Don't believe the Reliable Honda myth.

10/9/18 Update: replaced transmission range switch- $400. - because van would not move in Reverse or Drive for ten minutes. Honda say thesis a common problem in Odysseys and Pilots. Honda says this repair might not fix problem because shift linkage cable doesn't always go into Park and problem might return unless cable is replaced - $600. These are not problems found in modern cars. 250K mile problems in a 99K mile vehicle. I'm looking for a different van now before this Honda self-destructs. 9/11/18 UPDATE: Forget about the "reliable Honda" myth/marketing scam. More like a mid-70s era GM vehicle. This van had major problems at 60K and thousands of dollars later, at 99K, the power steering pump I replaced with the new steering rack is leaking 30K later, a front lower control arm is cracked (?!!!), and the valve cover gaskets are leaking. Modern cars don't have these problems. The last time I had a valve cover gasket leak was in a 1969 Dodge van. Shades of 70s era GM vehicles. Don't be a sucker. Buy a Toyota. This is a 8/1/16 update of my 2012 review. I have had to replace the power steering rack and pinion and the front motor mount. The rack was a $1700. job and the mount $450. Honda USA refused to admit their recalled power steering pump damaged the rack and did not offer any "good will" discount. It's a money pit. I'm going back to German for my next vehicle. I bought this van used. My mechanic, a 30 year veteran, did pre-purchace inspections on six Odysseys before we found a well maintained one with 60K. I was happy with the van for the first few months, and then....problem after problem: a blown power steering line and rack and pinion, motor mount, overheating caused by a faulty Honda fuse, CV/axle joints, timing belt, the rear widow washer doesn't work and would cost hundreds of dollars to fix. Noise in final drive section of the transmission!
