A Great Little SUV
Our CRV LX is used as our airport car, NY City car, bad weather vehicle and shopping center car. It gets none of the glory trips, only the tough errands. It soaks up the potholes and does not rattle. The cargo hold puts larger SUVs to shame. Fuel mileage is ok, we only get about 20 mpg, but mostly city driving and short trips. It is very impressive in snow. Very stable with great traction. All in all, a terrific value, but not a great long distance car. Head lights need a lot of improvement.
Wonky electronics, got rid of it after 1 year
I traded after 1 year. The stereo and Bluetooth started having major issues. Dealership kept telling me it couldn't be fixed, tried blaming my cell phone. Same phone the entire time I had the phone the entire time I had the car. Phone worked fine with any other car I drove. They just didn't want to replace the stereo navigation unit because it's it's a couple thousand dollars and I was nearing the end of the warranty. Disappointed in the car and in how Honda dealers treated me with the problems. UPDATE: 2 years after trading I finally hear that Honda had a problem with bluetooth, they would not admit it, they would not recall it, and they would not even bother to fix it. I have a 2016 CRV now, and no bluetooth issues. Much happier with the 2016 than I was with the 2014. 7 months in with the 2016 and zero issues. The 2016 also has much more comfortable seats. I was never very happy with the seats in the 2014. for long trips my back would hurt and my butt went numb. The seats were just too firm. Seating in the 2016 is much more soft and offers more comfort and support by conforming to your shape not trying to make you conform to it. If you are looking at the 2014 model I'd suggest spend a little more money if you can, and go for a newer one so you don't inherit someone else's issues that Honda refused to fix.

Been a fairly good car, so far.
Same complaints as other folks, and lots to like. My VTC actuator started making the grinding noise, as well. Was worried that it might do some damage, so I took it in. Had the service manager contact Honda, and they paid for a substantial amount to have a new one installed. It's been fine ever since. Stereo is weak (music is VERY important to me), so I looked into having the entire system replaced. This would have been too expensive, but the stereo shop recommended a Kenwood powered subwoofer that I had installed under the driver seat. Now it sounds phenomenal! The sub takes all the heat off the main unit and it gets loud & clear. Car is under-powered. I find myself using low gears to accelerate faster off the line, and I also downshift for a passing gear using the button on the side of the shifter. I call it my nitrous button, lol. No complaints about the interior. I see reviews saying the interior is cheap-looking, but I have no problem with it. The interior is very functional and easy to clean. When I was looking at used cars, I compared the back seats to the RAV 4, and the RAV's rear seats seemed flimsy compared to the CR-V. I like the fact you can pull the straps and the seats automatically fold (almost) flat. My dog loves the spacious cargo area. I haven't had occasion to appreciate the AWD. Almost wish I didn't have it (not much use for it here in NorCal), as the gas mileage is underwhelming (around 22 mpg city/hiway), but I drive this car a bit harder than the little old ladies I normally see driving CR-Vs. Love the look of the car- I wash it a LOT and wax it often. I get compliments on it, especially after I got some nice black wheels from Tire Rack (my EX has 17" wheels and looks better than the standard 16" wheels on the LX). Love the sunroof and the tinted windows on the cargo area. Lights work great at night- I have a little night vision problem, but they are bright enough for me. Fog lights are great, too. I wish the passenger side window had auto up/down like the driver's side, but this is a nitpick. I don't use the nav system (I use my smart phone). AC/heater work very well- plenty cool in summer & warm in the winter. AC doesn't seem to affect engine power much, unlike my last vehicle, and engine temps stay constant no matter how hot it is outside. I joke that the gauge is stuck, because it never seems to move. Always at a good temp (last car overheated at temps above 70 degrees). What else? Paint started to peel off the strip above the rear window. Took it to an auto body shop and they painted it black for a nominal fee. Honda would have helped me out but still would have cost over $300 to have this small strip repainted.Hood paint color slightly different that the rest of the car. All said, I would definitely buy this car again. I hope it lasts forever.

A Great Daytime Car
I bought this CRV EX L AWD new in 2014 and have 73000 miles . I would give it a 5 star rating in every way EXCEPT the headlights at night are terrible and even worse in rain , on dim they shine about 10 feet and the brights shine out about 25 feet and it's dark in front of the car. I've got out of the car to make sure they are even on ! All that being said I love the looks , ride and performance of this car. I want to get a 2019 CRV but I'll test drive on a rainy night .

bring back a manual transmission in the CRV
would love to see a manual transmission brought backn in the CR-V. would like to see the AC unit moved back like the 2008 2009 2010 models. Why consumers aren't wising up is beyond me. Who wants AC blowing on their hand all the time - that's why I gave the interior design a 2, otherwise, pretty perfect vehicle. Would like to see the sun visors with a pull-out mechanism like in the toyota camry. There is NO protection from the sun in this 2014 CR-V. Zero.... get a towel because you're going to need one. need to work on the visibility out of the vehicle on all viewing - sides & rear.
