Best car I've owned so far
The 2013 Ford Focus hatchback has been the best car I've ever owned. I think it is getting a bad reputation here for the dual-clutch automatic manual transmission, which is easy to misunderstand as a "broken" automatic transmission. I enjoy it a lot and no issues with it after 114,000 miles. Things I like about the car include the stylish exterior and interior, comfortable seats, comfortable climate control, good visibility from the driver's seat, blind-spot side-view mirrors, decent sound system, and good acceleration in passing gear (assuming you can get the transmission to cooperate). Things I don't like about the car are the delays in shifting the automated manual when it doesn't engage the right secondary gear, lack of "sport mode" manual shift, connecting to Bluetooth audio (I must pull the voice command and say "Bluetooth Audio" every time I start the car), small screen, large and messy center console with an alpha-numeric keypad (?) instead of a larger screen, and no backup camera. It is an excellent car for an excellent value, not without fault, but I would recommend highly.

Value and Wise Buy! 42 MPG Baby!!!
This care has never left me on the side of the road. I bought the manual transmission because the reviews were better and I don't care what the car was rated - I GET OVER 42 MPG on average! People - ethanol free fuel keeps a small engine running better and longer. I have over 150,000 mile on this car and it has been great. Yes, it is small but worth the savings!

Transmission PROBLEMS!!!
I'm so disappointed in Ford SMH. I have a 2013 Ford Focus. My car is only 6 years old and I haven't alot of problems with this car. Main issue is the transmission. I have a car note which I been paying on for over 2 years now. My warranty is expire due too 2 years or 24 thousand miles which one ever come 1st. My car has 130,000 miles. Ford had alot of recalls on my car. Ford stating that my car is over 100,000 miles so it's nothing they can do about it regarding the recalls. They had over 2 recalls regarding the transmission in my car. So my car is about too shut down at any given moment and I will be stuck with out a car with a 3 year old. Repairs is over 2000 dollars to fix which I do not have being a single mom. I just want too cry everyday because it's nothing I can do about my car. Ford is selling bad vehicles to people and it's not right. Something need too be done soon. I do not recommend Ford too a single person.

2013 Ford Focus Another unhappy owner..Stay Away
Terrible transmission (already rebuilt once due to metal in trans fluid) currently at 38K miles, Bluetooth and electronics never worked correctly, full of rattles, terrible Resale value. Transmission was repaired once, shifting is erratic and when you press the gas the response is inconsistent, sometimes it takes off and other times it just creeps forward. Bluetooth won't connect to devices, Microsoft SYNC is atrocious. In less than a year of ownership book value has decreased by half. THIS WILL BE MY LAST FORD EVER. This car is a complete lemon that should never have been sold and all FORD will do is extend the warranty, I just want the car fixed but that doesn't happen and I can't get rid of it because it is almost worthless due to the reputation. Gas mileage is nowhere near claimed as well as 24 mpg is about tops compared to the advertised 35+ Update: At 49k miles now, another clutch replacement, 3 TCM updates. Dealer says they know it still has issues but it "doesn't quite fall into parameters for another repair" Car is dangerous as shifting and acceleration are erratic and especially in stop and go traffic and hot weather. I have purchased a 1990 Mazda to use commuting and only use the focus for interstate trips as the Focus is just unsafe. UPDATE: At 73k now, numerous visits to the Ford dealer for transmission issues, mostly they just "Update the TCM to the latest software" tell us that it's unfixable and that they are as frustrated with Ford as we are., random parts falling off the car.. Completely unreliable, transmission shudders, chatters and slips. Still need to keep an extra car to have a reliable driver (a Saab with 431k and much more reliable). WORST CAR EVER.

Transmission Improved
I bought this car in Thailand in April, 2013. I believe it is the same specification as the US car, with the 2.0 L engine. I am very impressed with the steering and handling, and build quality is excellent. On only 2 occasions, I had some problems with the AT. An oil leak was found by the dealer between the engine and the transmission. This was a major repair for a new car, to replace the seal and clutches. At first I was very disappointed to need such a repair in the 1st year, but after getting the car back, the transmission runs better than in any car (many) I have owned. it now runs better than when new, and I like it more than ever. Often cannot notice the gear changes!
