Transmission problems
Tom, West Memphis, AR, 04/14/2020
2019 Ford F-150 XLT 4dr SuperCrew 4WD 6.5 ft. SB (5.0L 8cyl 10A)
I bought a 2019 F-150 XLT 4x4 5.0L
27,000 miles on it. Got it home and the transmission started knocking and wouldn’t shift at all once I was at about 5,000 rpm in 4th gear it finally shifted. I hear rattling and knocking coming from it. Hard shifts in 3,5,8th gear. Mainly 3rd gear is the worst. I wish I would’ve kept my 2017 6 speed f-150. Oh I’ve been to the dealer twice no help there. … I guess I’ll get a Toyota next. Before my warranty expires. Take it from all of us. The 10 speed transmission is garbage 🗑. And it makes the 5.0 L feel weak. No get up and go. My 2008 has more torque. This truck can’t even get out of its on way, its sad what ford has done!
Stay away from these things

2019 Ford F-150 XLT 4dr SuperCrew 4WD 6.5 ft. SB (5.0L 8cyl 10A)
Take my advice give ford time to work out the kinks on these things I'm on my second truck first one was a 2019 xl stx package 4x4 now the second is a 2019 xlt with the fx4 package and both of em suck in everyway possible shifting problems stupid squealing noises from the engine from what I can tell transmissions makes the dumbest cartoon laser charging up sound when you accelerate all … of which is frankly embarrassing to me for the money i am spending I alot of shuddering when you give it gas and I just had to start a oil consumption test and I'm basicly stuck with this monstrosity because until somthing major goes out on it it all your going to be told is that all of this is normal which I know is bull but they know these trucks have defects in them but they arent willing to admit it at least not now anyway so take my word be carefull
The perfect truck for my purposes

2019 Ford F-150 XLT 4dr SuperCrew 4WD 6.5 ft. SB (5.0L 8cyl 10A)
I traded a 2013 F150 with 3.7 V6, up to my FX4 5.0 Coyote. Ok. I LOVE....the quiet smooth ride. Did I say quiet? Very quiet. Huge rear seat area which is great for long trips because I can sleep back there when my wife is driving. I have been reading the forums and started getting a little worried about tranny issues, but after 2000 miles it's just getting better. Yes I HATE the ASS … feature, but at least I can disable it. The sound system is adequate, very functional and the FordPass rocks! I love the V8 and the power and sound. I test drove the Ecoboosts and almost got the 3.5, but it just had no character. Anyway, I am a bit concerned about the oil consumption issue with the V8. So far, nothing. I'm also getting pretty good milage. My last truck would get 21 mpg on the hwy. Pretty sad for a 3.7. The 5.0 gest 19-20 at 80 mph. I got the 36 gallon fule tank and I can literally drive all day without stopping. I love this truck! Sorry to hear all the horror stories out there though. I'm just lucky so far.

2019 Ford F-150 XLT 4dr SuperCrew 4WD 6.5 ft. SB (5.0L 8cyl 10A)
My favorite truck. Love the look and feel. The 5.0 V8 is powerful and responsive. The 10 speed transmission took a little getting familiar with but love it now - the crew cab is spacious with a quiet comfortable ride.

Which F-150 does Edmunds recommend?
Which version of the F-150 you choose will depend entirely on your needs, but a few stand out to us as the most well-rounded. For trim, we'd go with the midlevel Lariat. It has all sorts of functional features but doesn't skimp on the luxury trimmings. The Lariat comes with the turbocharged 2.7-liter engine, which is very capable. Consider upgrading to the 3.5-liter V6, in its standard-output 375-horsepower configuration, for the extra towing and hauling power.

Driving
8.5The F-150 is a strong performer, even without the range-topping engine. The turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 is punchy, and the smooth-shifting 10-speed gearbox makes the most of it. This truck steers and handles about as well as anything in the class. It has confidence-inspiring brakes, too.
Comfort
8.5There's a lot to like about the F-150. All seats provide both appropriate support and all-day comfort, and the climate control system is a model of effectiveness. Plus the cabin environment is quiet and calm. The optional FX4 Off-Road package doesn't make the ride objectionable at all.
Interior
8.5The F-150 gets high marks for everyday ease of use and interior quality. Combined with the ratings for comfort, it's simply a pleasant place to spend a full day on the road.
Utility
8.5Lots of storage options inside and out make the F-150 one of the most capable utility vehicles you can buy. It's all relative, though, and this Ford doesn't quite trump the Ram's cabin for vastness or versatility. We love the Ford's tailgate, however, and the bed is great even without the sliding tie-downs.
Technology
7.5Sync 3 is a capable system that's improved through maturity. It's not the quickest system out there, but its intuitive screen flow helps its standing. Connecting a phone via CarPlay or Bluetooth sometimes requires multiple attempts. Many driver assistance features are available.
