DUPED BY ECO-BOOST MPG

2012 Ford F-150 Lariat 4dr SuperCrew Styleside 5.5 ft. SB (5.0L 8cyl 6A)
I too was duped by the MPG that Ford so proudly advertised you'd get with the new Eco-Boost 3.5L engine. I have had mine a year. I have a friend who bought the 5.0 v8 F150 and his gas mileage is far better than mine. Makes me mad since I paid more $$ for this engine to get less MPG. I would not recommend this engine to anyone unless you were pulling something all the time.
Someone … mentioned lights leaking, mine are also leaking and the visor mirror is in need of repair as the lid won't stay closed. Wish I would've listened to some of the reviews I read when I was buying this truck.
My advice is don't buy the chrome package either, it turns out its all plastic and hard to keep clean.

Avoid it, too many problems. First six months, dash instrument cluster squeeked, 6+ trips to fix. Two pumps died, high pressure fuel pump, brake pump. Electrical invertor died (no 12v power to back seat). Radio spikes in volume and not able to daignose it because its intermittant. faulty Switch in shift lever killed battery. timing cover seals leak 2-3k fix. When it works, it's … great!

2012 Ford F-150 Lariat 4dr SuperCrew Styleside 5.5 ft. SB (5.0L 8cyl 6A)
I like the truck. Last month (3/2020) at 94,000 miles I replaced all 4 rotors and brake discs. We often use the truck to pull our 31 ft travel trailer. I change the oil on a regular basis with synthetic oil. One issue I have had is engine hesitation when the truck is first started up. The issue goes away after a minute or two of driving. Another issue is the tail gate not always … latching when closing. Sometimes requiring several attempts to properly latch. Gas mileage around town is ~14 mpg. On the highway ~19 mpg. Towing the camper ~9.5 mpg. The gas calculator for mpg and remaining mileage is not too accurate but gives you a ball park value.

I love everything about this truck except for the gas mileage. But I didnt buy it for the gas efficiency.
