2018 CHEV HIGH COUNTRY DISAPPOINTMENT

This vehicle has given us nothing but headaches since purchasing end of Oct 2017! It began within a few days of purchase, the LED headlight assembly started flashing erratically, other cars began pulling over when I drove up behind them, I assume they were thinking that they were being pulled over by an unmarked police car. Into the dealership it went. Right after we got it back from the dealership(they replaced the headlight assemble) we noticed a strong jerk at various speeds and thought it was the transmission. We brought it back in and were told that the computer was dropping programs but they were positive the problem was fixed. It was not, it continued and seemed to get worse. Honestly it was embarrassing to have others ride with me in my vehicle, it was like a whip-lash jerk. Then the check engine light came on. Back to the dealership we went and were told they had to replace the entire emissions unit. They said the replacement was most likely the reason it was still jerking. They were wrong, it again jerked(feels like a major hard shift) at 32, 44, 56, 68 you name it, it jerked. We brought it back in and it sat another week at the dealership. They claimed the computer dropped programs again and it was fixed. It was not. Went back to the dealership and spoke to the dealer who sold it to us. He said he would take care of the concerns we had. 1,000 miles later(put on by the dealership to replicate the concern) We were told the vehicle was fixed and the problem was due to an electronical issue that was causing the torque converter to not work properly. We were also told that the dealership could do nothing for us as far as getting a buy back. We were told we had to contact Chevy to initiate a buy back. We did so... and if you think the problems above were frustrating enough, this process was much more painful. We have called numerous times and told 72 hours and someone will call you back. No one did. We had to have our dealership send a message through the dealership to get Chevy to call us back. We were told by Chevy that the district manager came to our dealership and looked at our vehicle. We stressed that we felt this was a major safe issue and did not feel comfortable transporting our young children in this vehicle. We also challenged back because we had the vehicle when said district manager visit occurred. The rep denied it did not occur. We contacted our dealership who confirmed said visit did not happen, the only contact they had was an email request for all the repair records. We then got a call from Chevy and he told us they would be buying back our vehicle BUT THEN SAID "oh sorry I have the wrong paperwork in front of me actually we will not be able to do anything for you". We were shocked. We asked why our families safety was not as important as the first families buy back letter he had mistakenly thought was ours. We asked to speak to his manager and were told no and they he made the buy back decisions and there was nothing that would change. We again demanded to speak to his manager. He then said she would call us Friday or Monday. She called us Tuesday and told us there was nothing they were willing to do. We called our dealership who were also very confused as to what criteria is needed to lemon out a vehicle especially since ours has been in the dealership with several safety concerns since purchase. Dealership said they would try to get some answers. So here we are waiting for answers and contimplating contacting an attorney. To top it off it continues to have electrical issues, now the carplay connection goes in and out when I have a phone call. It will start through the speakers then about a minute in change over to my cell and then back to speakers again if I am lucky. Dreading having to return to the dealership yet again to get a loaner while they try to troubleshoot the issue. We have owned several chevy's and sadly this most likely will be the last due to Chevy's lack of customer regard for safety and blatant disregard for a consumers time, money, efforts and dissatisfaction with a product. Update: over a year ago we had even more issues it started not going into park - was told it would be over a month before the part to fix would be in - we were done. Traded it in for a new Jeep and couldn’t be happier now.

Transmission shifts poorly in lower gears. Third trip to dealer to fix. Still not sure if it can be fixed. 4,600 total miles.

This is why people buy a japanese car

Great size and looks, positives stop there. Rear abd side view mirrors too small for car this size. Simple thin piece of plastic that covers sunroof flaps and makes horrible noise if window is open and going over 55. Car needs more power and speedometer and tachometer are too small and place off to the extreme sides of dashboard. But let me get to the real problems: Paid 55K for a car that is 6 months old with less than 2500 miles and has been to the dealership twice because car refused to start. First time car eventually started but would not shift correctly, told it was transmission cable second time car wouldn't start again and steering assist warning on dashboard. But real problem is dealership, need to argue with them about bringing car in and getting a loner not when car is 6 months old and paid 55k. Like wife said "this is why people buy a Japanese car". My first car was a Chevy and it took thirty years for me to buy a second, well this will be my second and last GM in a while. Wanted to buy American, but remember now why I usually buy foreign. GM you have lost a customer that tried to give you a second chance.

WOW - what a difference 2103 vs. 2018 Traverse

We spent a couple months looking at all the 7 passenger options. (We had a 2013 Traverse - but had several concerns). The 2018 fixed them all and then added more capabilities and features. We knew you can get a great deal on a 2017 but waited for the 2018. Glad we did. In the end we decided on the Premier, but the dealer parked the Premier and High Country in the Iridescent White Paint option next to each other. For the small ($51k vs. $54k) price difference we went with the HIgh Country. I love the additional safety feature like adaptive cruise, etc. We also liked the interior color combination, polished aluminum wheels, twin rear axle clutch, power third row, and exterior trim. In our opinion, since we were spending that much money, and plan on keeping it a few years - why not. The dealer also closed the gap by providing a larger discount. Update: still great. Mileage has exceeds expectations. Love the adaptive cruise and lane assist. Lights are superior. To any previous Chevy.

It's difficult for a vehicle to be as flexible as the new Traverse. We purchased this SUV for a cross country trip we plan to take this summer. After years of buying mid level trims we decided we wanted a premium trim for our trip so we opted for the 'High Country'. Traded in a 2015 Rogue that we were very happy with except it was just too small. It is safe to say that is a problem we will not have with the Traverse. I could easily bring home several sheets of plywood from the hardware store if I wanted to though I am not inclined to do so as the interior of the High Country is very upscale. To be fair, we only have about 300 miles on it, but my initial feeling is that we scored a home run with this one. It is the most comfortable and quiet car I've ever driven and we are still discovering new features like the rear view mirror that, with the flip of a switch, turns into a TV view of everything that's behind you. Our Rogue had lane change warning and blind spot notification but this has so much more. I actually feel like I have a co-pilot constantly checking things out for me and letting me know what needs attention. This is a Chevy but I feel like I'm driving a true luxury vehicle. Could have sprung for the Buick as it is the sister vehicle to the Traverse. Both great vehicles but I actually like the classic lines of the Traverse better and the High Country trim pretty much rivals what the Buick has to offer. Will update my review once we have some actual mileage to speak of as we begin to travel cross country. UPDATE: After more then 10,000 miles I have still had ZERO problems with the 2018 Traverse. ZERO! Still feel the joy every time I get behind the wheel and my wife has become an even bigger fan then she was when we 1st purchased it. Apple Car Play, A camera hidden in the rear view mirror and the hands free opening of the lift gate are just a few of the simple things that make our lives easier. Simply put, this is the best vehicle I've ever owned and I'm 73. Plan on keeping for quite a while. Update - One year later and I’m still learning the speech technology I can use with my USB’s. It’s a lot of fun. I’ve only had one issue in the 13,000 miles I’ve driven the car. The sunroof shade was cheaply made and the fastener that holds it closed broke. So now I can’t close the shade. The roof itself is fine. But I can’t close the shade. Looked at it and all the parts are proprietary so I’m going to ask them to fix it when I take it for the next oil change. 2/25/22 - Finally had roof shade repaired by Chevy (about $80.00). Clearly the roof shade was an afterthought for this year and model. Only additional problem I have at this juncture is an internal switch that sometimes does not activate when I put the car in park. So when I turn the car off it beeps and tells me to put it in park when it is already in park. When this happens I need to restart the car take it out of park and put it back into park multiple times until the switch works. I need to get that corrected before the switch goes bad completely. As an old Geezer who lived through AM radio, 8 tracks, cassettes and CD's I'm still loving the ability to use "Hey Seri" and "Elexa" and enjoying my Traverse.
