Hi: Did you ever find out the problem. My 2007 Nissan Versa SL is having the same problem and it's pretty scary. Any response would be greatly appreciated. Best, Major
My 2007 Nissan Versa has only 27,000 miles and was told that the fuel pump is faulty. Nissan is saying they are not aware of any history on faulty fuel pumps for their Versa. However, there appears to be a problem after reading all the posts here. Can any one provide advice?
My 2007 Versa broke down on the side of the road. Engine is blown. Nissan wanted $3600 to replace. 62,000 miles so the 60,000 mile warranty was void. Found a guy who could put the engine in and I purchased one. Problem now is that Nissan does not make the gasket that goes on the transmission to put it back together with no leaks. The heat of the engine warped the ... Read More
Step one... deep breath. Sometimes it seems when you have one issue with a car, other things catch your eye or ear and you wonder, "Is this bad too?" Not saying that your car isn't hesitating, but it is possible that you're just noticing something that's been there all along. I've done that myself Now, back to your actual issues. Vibrating brake pedal DOES sound like warped rotors (NOBODY makes rotors ... Read More
I'm expecting a good long life out of our Versas. We ALWAYS keep up on the maintenance on our Nissans (10 vehicles since 1979) and have averaged over 180,000 miles per vehicle with no major issues in that time. Our 2007 Versa is up to 89,000 miles. My 2001 Altima is at 206,000, and I sold my last two Sentras at over 230,000 so it's just warming up! :P
30mpg - That's the trouble with the mpg postings on this thread - are we comparing two different cars or two different driving styles? If I drove the same way your wife has to drive I may do no better in my Versa. Just got back yesterday from a round trip of 325 miles to Minneapolis and back - 33mpg. Put car into CC at 65mph (the speed limit) and just ... Read More
Here's my theory and a couple of facts to back it up... my 2007 also had the flange just in front of the muffler rust out. Talking to the guy at Midas, he told me that Muranos are also having a problem with early exhaust problems. The reason that the replacement muffler is so expensive (only from Nissan, $425) is that there hasn't been enough time for aftermarket mufflers to hit ... Read More
I have a similar situation with engine sludge -- 2007 Nissan Versa with 56K miles. A couple of months ago it simply wouldn't start, without much warning. Basically, they put the burden of proof on the customer to document that ... Read More
My daughters 2007 Nissan Versa stalls when shifted to reverse or drive. It runs fine in park or neutral. Passthewire, you certainly have my sympathies. I had the same frustration with my 2007 brand new 0 miles Versa. My problem was different though as it started after 6 weeks of ownership. I had this car for 3 months with 3000 miles only. Car died 3 times completely dead, and no lights and no start. Jump start will start the car. All accessories had been off. I have a 2007 6-speed Versa with 78,000 miles on it and I'm picking up a 2010 tomorrow as I pass the 2007 along to my daughter. The 2010 is going to be my first with ABS, so I'm expecting to hear noises I haven't heard before. Yesterday on my 2007 Versa, the tailpipe just in front of the rear muffler broke free from corrosion at the flange. I would assume that the smart key problem can be fixed, but I doubt there's a d0-it-yourself fix. Since you say both smart keys have stopped working, it sounds like the issue is with the electronics in the car that sense the keys and not the smart keys themselves. You could try getting a replacement key, but my gut is telling me that they're not the issue.
No, the dealer was pretty much right about the touch up paint since the touch up paint you put on is an exact match for the original color. The only time I've ever had a touch up paint color match exactly is when a car is brand ... Read More

OK so I had a 2007 Versa and after having those horrible transmission problems and being laughed at when I said that it was the transmission ( I was told "CTV transmissions are the best and NEVER have ANY issues), ten trips to the dealership later and after having it totally die, go into limp mode 3 times and almost being hit turning left when in limp mode I took the ... Just an opinion - always insist on out of door price quote -do not take price + doc/TTL as the quote. If they give you excuses, don't buy them - Nissan prices the versa, not the steering wheel + tires + cruise + exhaust etc. But, be fair to them, have something specific in mind model + options, down to the color.

So now the question is: How come a 1.8L engine with CVVT--and micro-finishing--gets only 122 hp and mediocre EPA ratings, while Honda's and Toyota's CVVT engines of the same size have more power plus better fuel economy?
I am glad Edmunds.com tested a non-ABS Versa. It helps confirm the need for ABS in the Versa. It appears the Edmunds staff is getting pretty good fuel economy on the Versa--30 mpg average in SoCal isn't too shabby. THe only Rattle I have is my exhaust system, and was caused hitting a carcus of a dead dog. The part came in, and gets fixed on Tuesday. Before that, no rattle, and my car has 8000 miles on it. Tony

I see there is still confusion about the Versa's platform. I have read so many different things in creditable magazines that I really don't care anymore. Some say it is a B ,some say a longer version of the B. I have read that it shares its platform with the Clio and then I have read it is shared with the Megane. The clio is probably more correct because of the ... Read More
VST? That's what robandjeanne call what some refer to as Electronic Stability Control. Many manufacturers have different names for it. I DO agree with what they're trying to say: Nissan/Toyota/Hyundai/Kia and GM (for their rebadged Daewoo Kalos known as the AVEO here) should all offer ESC as an option for their small car segment, or "B" car as it has been generally termed by the automotive press. IMHO such a thing ... Read More

The tested car was manufactured after the modifications had ... Read More
Why is it that the SL, the fine machine that it is IMHO, cannot be optioned with both ABS and the other optional packages COMBINED? It seems that if you want Bluetooth, sunroof and other goodies you can't get ABS, and vice versa. What's up with that? Anyone have a clue? SL is available with all packages combined. Your "clue" is delivered. I drove an SL with CVT, Audio pkg., Sirius, ... Read More
I bought a Nissan Versa 2007 in August, the SL trim with no added features. I have been more than happy with its performance. It gives me 30 mpg on my daily mixed inner city/ interstate commute of 20 miles. It drives well, though the slow braking time took some getting used to. Its a dream to maneuver in between two monster cars parked in a cramped lot. Being Asian, I'm ... Read More
well your comment about 'chopper ride' is funny, the car FEELS so european and so much less Japaness... It feels very much 'French' like, I had a 86 Peugeot 505 in 86 and this Versa feels just like it... Tony
It is a Tire Pressure Monitor. Either you have a tire with low pressure or as with many others the Pressure Monitor System need service. On another forum almost everyone that posted has had this problem. The Dealer can use his equipment to reset this. Then all should be OK. Notice I said should be OK. Some have had to go back a second time. Most posters believe Nissan will soon ... Read More
So what we all have then is a Nissan Altima with -a choppier, noisier (esp freeway) ride -more upright and 'sporty' seating position -better city mileage but slightly worse highway mileage -less lateral room but potentially just as safe (5 star side impact rating) -less overall cargo+rear seat length -a hatch that one doesn't look rediculous stuffing a bike into All for about 5 grand less! Seems like an OK compramise ... Read More
