My family has owned 40 Toyotas in the last 30 years. Always great cars for dependability and value. Having owned 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017,2018, and 2019 Limited Highlanders I am totally disappointed with the driver's seat in my 2020 Highlander. First, they eliminated the seat Extention that gave great support under my knees. More importantly, the seat is very uncomfortable. Within 10 minutes of driving the vehicle, my right hip develops pain. I have tried adjusting and even had the General Manager of my Toyota store spend 30 minutes adjusting both the driver's seat and steering wheel. I trying to have Toyota come up with a solution. Very sad "I Love Toyota". Well after many attempts with both the dealer and Toyota USA, I was informed that the driver's seat is as designed and nothing can be done😞. I went online and purchased a seat cushion. Disappointed with Toyota but after 33 years, this is my first non-resolved issue.

This is "NOT" the car that I wanted to buy

Thomas Moffat, 09/06/2020
2020 Toyota Highlander Limited 4dr SUV AWD (3.5L 6cyl 8A)

I purchased the 2020 Limited AWD and it is the 3rd Highlander that I have owned. No car is perfect but some of the things I liked about my first 2 highlanders were performance, comfort, and a quiet ride. The Highlander I purchased offers none of these options. First the front row seats are narrower w/less leg space and the passenger seat offers no height adjustments. The seats are uncomfortable and on extended rides become uncomfortable. City roads offer a quiet ride but get on the freeway and you might think that you are in a cement truck and it doesn't come close to the quiet ride that I had on my 2016 and 2004. The suspension at times makes you wonder if they added a suspension as you feel every bump the car goes over and the suspension rattles. This Highlander has a new transmission with an additional gear and you will find at times when you want to accelerate it changes gears and you lose the momentum you are trying to achieve. Not I expected or wanted. This years Highlander also has a new feature that I could certainly due with out. When you come to a temporary stop in traffic it will put the parking brake on for you with out asking and as you ease off on the brake the car will surge forward. I still don't understand the benefit of this accessory it makes me feel like the car is unsafe. We opted for the bench seat on the second row so we could get 5 people in the car (third row is not for human use and is best left down or eliminated for more cargo space) . The seat belts on this row if not clipped after use will rattle when not being used during driving. This dig is a small one but not the type of quality I would expect with Toyota. Toyota definitely hit a home run with the Technology upgrades and every day I am still discovering options available to me that the previous model I owned didn't have. Unfortunately the advancements of Technology in this car is not enough to soften the sick feeling I have in my stomach over the fact that I just spent 45K + on a car that has uncomfortable front row seats with inadequate seat adjustment, has loud road noise at high speeds and has a suspension that allows you to feel every bump in the road. I will be getting a new vehicle next year, taking a bath on this one and passing it along to another buyer who hopefully doesn't mind the discomforts that I have experienced

I was in the market for an Suv/Truck and looked at three vehicles. -1. Highlander 2. Palisade 3. Telluride. I liked the Kia but EVERY dealer I spoke to was selling the vehicle OVER msrp and refused to discount it. So I said forget it, next was the Palisade and while the ride was nice and you could sit in the 3rd row comfortably the interior(dash-panel) seemed cheap and flimsy. So I went to look at the highlander and loved it!!. I bought the XLE model with captain chairs and the board runners. I got a great deal on it. Now I will admit the 3rd row is a joke and the fake leather seats while nice should have been REAL leather seats on ALL the XLE models. outside of that the vehicle rides nice and so far no issues. Would I buy it again?-for sure! UPDATE!-Well it's been almost a year and I LOVE this vehicle and would buy another in a heartbeat!!! I plan on keeping it for some time. The 3rd row is the achilles heel it's to small for an adult but outside of that No problems to report!
