Bought the truck new in January 2018. Drove 45000 miles on it and one year later... everything works, not a single issue with it, so the reliability of the 4 runner is pretty good. The leather seats were hard for me at the beginning, had to use extra mats to keep it softer, but after 2o thousand mi seat became softer. The engine is strong but I was getting 15.9 max even on long hiway trips, may b cause of my style of driving, was changing summer tires for winter Yokohama’s which increased the grip and made it drive softer, the engine is not strong when going up heal but ok when on the strait road, overall it is a very practical and reliable truck

Gas mileage is not the greatest, but this is the perfect SUV and not a crossover. The 4runner is a real off road vehicle, that's how it's built and I hope Toyota keeps it that way. Love my 4runner, this is my update. I still love my 4Runner, everyone I know that has one loves their's, if you can get past the poor gas mileage, and truck like handling, you will love it too

More for off roading than comfort, but great vehicle. Get the Highlander if you want comfort! After a year with this vehicle, I still am very pleased, and would certainly consider buying another! Compared to the Avalon that I traded for this one, it doesn't have all the amenities of newer models, though Toyota is supposed to be doing a major overhaul with the 2020 models! Other thing that would preclude me from buying another is that as my wife ages, she is having more and more difficulty getting into the 4Runner, even with the automatic running boards! It is a long step up, and getting older, it gets much harder! Still very good vehicle all around! **Second year update-Still hold with all that the original review said! Disappointed that Toyota has cut their service plan to just 2 years, and the local dealer's network was less than good about telling me about the change! But that seems to be true of most large dealers in this area (Tri-Cities, WA). Keep the required maintenance up (Essentially oil changes and wiper replacement at this point), and Toyotas seem to run well, and perform excellently! Newer models have a bit more technology, but the next big change will come in another year, so you might want to hold off if you are looking for the latest in high tech with the 4Runner!
