Bought my one owner car in the spring of '17 with 17,000 miles on it. Fully loaded SV model (Navigation, cold weather package, technology package, moonroof). I paid 16,300 for the car with a lifetime powertrain warranty included. Out the door after fees and everything for a little over $18,000 with a full bumper to bumper lifetime warranty. I have a pamphlet with the entensive coverage list on it. I've owned the car a year this month. It now has 34,500 miles on it. Car drives great and gets great gas mileage. I drive 60 miles round trip to work every day and I average 34-36 with cruise set at 75. Impressive response and pick up for a 4 cylinder. Handles well. Only problems have been the infotainment system was buggy and didn't work correctly all the time. Update seems to have fixed that problem. Navigation is still difficult to use though. Transmission "shifted" weird at times. CVT did take some getting used to. Recall and update by dealer seems to have fixed that. Only thing that seems to really bother me is that I have wind noise around my driver side door that is right next to me when I'm driving. It's nowhere else in the car. The brakes also squeal at lowers speeds and stops sometimes. Nissan said it's normal. I don't think my brakes should squeak at only 25,000+ miles. My mother-in-laws has had a 13 and now a 15 and they both have had brake noise.

By the end of the year in 2014, i purchased a 2015 Nissan Altima 2.5 SV Java. The appearance of the vehicle was great & i loved every single bit of it. In 3 months i started hearing some noise cranking the vehicle than seem normal but gradually increased until where the vehicle completely shut off on me & my mom (different occasions) while driving. Last stroll was when it shut off on my mom @ night on a weekend with dealership being closed. Emergency was called & vehicle was pushed to side & later towed. Diagnosis came to be fuel pump & smthing else. Expenses on vehicle was never reimbursed & Nissan corporate blames me despite vehicle having factory warranty with 13k miles(current).

First Nissan - bad CVT transmission

Bought our first Nissan and was very pleased with the way it drives and handles although the road noise could be quieter. This car has great acceleration and pick up and I have been very pleased with the car. The only problem with this vehicle is the CVT transmission. I was told it is a new design and has only been used extensively since 2007 and still has some issues of reliability and endurance. I bought the car used with 122,000 miles on it. I had never had a CVT transmission and did not know what to expect. When going downhill the engine revs up until the trans shifts back down as you can hear and watch the Tachometer spin up. After about 1,500 miles of use I began to notice a slight vibration at times and also a slight shudder when in gear stopped at a light. I had read that the transmission fluid should be changed every 30 - 50,000 miles for the CVT trans to last as long as possible. I am sure it had never been changed before I bought the car. I took it to my trusted transmission mechanic who told me that changing the fluid at this point wouldn't help anything and that the CVT transmission in general wasn't lasting as long as other standard geared transmissions. He said he replaced about 3 - 4 CVT's each week at around $4000 a pop. This is a deal breaker for me because I did not pay but $9000 total for the vehicle. This is a shame because otherwise I really liked the car. UPDATE - April 2021 - I will never buy this vehicle again. Besides the vibration from the transmission, the computer will not read the tires even after I had two sensors replaced. Also it keeps giving me a message of remote (key fob) battery low after I changed and put in a new battery. The dealer wants $300 to reset the computer so we just drive it with all the warning stuff on the dash because it doesn't affect the driving or handling. This car is loaded with unnecessary options that is not needed. Bells and whistles on junk. Will never buy a Nissan again.

Dislikes wind noise and engine noise (4-cyl.)

This is my very first Nissan. I bought the second week of December. I really, really like this 2015 Altima 2.5 SV except for its engine noise. I wouldn't mind engine noise if it sounds like a masculine growl, but this one sounds like a drowning engine with a broken exhaust. And after 1,600 miles it seems like the engine noise is louder, and now it has wind noise too!
