Horrible gas consumption, unsolvable frontal shake

Bought used at 130k miles and: Cons: - Radiator went bust and leaked all transmission fluid, severely overheating the transmission, been getting hard shifts ever since - I tracked gas milage for a year. the 4WD model gets 12 mpg in city and tops 19 on highway. Absolutely the worse I've ever seen. Does not come close to advertisement. It's not like it's unaffordable to me, but this kind of number is just stupid. Might as well drive a pick up if you're willing to deal with that kind of gas consumption. - Steering wheel shakes above 70 on highway. Had the mechanic balance the tires and do alignment multiple times, could not solve it. Don't know why. Major turn-down. - ABS sensors went at about 137k miles. Had to be replaced. - I have the EXL model but even the highest trim with new tires still has a fair bit of highway roaring noise. It gets fatiguing pretty soon. - The honda J series V6 or any honda engine with a timing belt needs a timing belt job every 60k miles, which is a 600 dollar regular expense. If you don't change it on time you risk the belt breaking and the interference engine destroying itself. Pros: - Very roomy. Lots of space, can carry as much as a pickup truck with both rows folded down. I moved twice with this car by myself, it carries so much stuff. It can fit 10 ft pvc pipes, 8 ft lumber, 4 ft wide plywood, and king size mattress without needing to fold it. - Interior design is pretty nice. Column shifter means center console can be used to place lots of things. 6 disc changer is nice. - Other than road noise and front end shake, suspension feels quite comfortable, handling feels normal. - Does not burn oil for the first 3k miles after oil change. If yours burns oil try to replace pcv valve.

This has been a very reliable car, and gets the job done when you need to haul a lot of people. All wheel drive this full time so in bad conditions it already is engaged. I have follow the recommended maintenance, and have never had any issues for additional expenses for this vehicle.

2nd Honda in 8 months

Had an 06 Accord EX-L and then bought the 07 Pilot EX-L. The engine, transmission, and 4WD system are all flawless..."Effortless engagement" are the two words that come to mind when describing these systems. The engine is silky smooth and near silent. The tranny is always in the right gear and never misses a beat. You can barely feel the tug when the rear wheels kick in. Considering the size and weight of the vehicle rides almost as nice as the Accord. Love the size and interior space, great for hauling loads of just about anything around. Could have bought any SUV manufactured by the big 3 and save thousands but still chose the Pilot. Simply put, "It's a Honda."

Great SUV but ...

I purchased this 2007 pilot used with 36,000 miles on it. Great vehicle so far. Handles well on the road and drives smoothly. The only downfall is the gas mileage. I travel 60 miles round trip and about 30 miles are rural roads. My gas mileage is about 16 miles per gallon. Keeping in mind the tank holds 20 gallons. Not very good gas mileage from this vehicle.

Everyone loves a Honda Pilot. We felt so lucky to find such a clean car with less than 75,000 miles. The car is extremely reliable. There isn't a lot of creature comforts with this trim style, but if you are looking for a car that you can drive for until 200,000 or more, than a Honda Pilot is something you should consider.
