Love my car, hate the sensors

Cindy, 03/25/2022

The car is fun and sporty to drive. If I need to pass someone or pick up some speed, I just kick it into sport mode and it takes off. The gas mileage is outstanding! But I’ve had the car is in the shop 3 times now because a back brake sensor is blown. I bought it so I wouldn’t have to be in the shop. I bought the car in June. In October, while I was out of town, the sensor blew the first time. The dashboard with alarms going off…and I’m 2 hours from home. Then it happened again a couple months later and now 2 days ago.

Slow and Cheaply made

Should be faster than it is. Interior rattles for days. If you can touch a surface, it probably has a rattle. Makes the experience cheap feeling. Passenger door rattles bad from bass so the bose system is useless on anything besides low to med volume. Steering wheel sticks and is a major safety issue. I can't fathom how honda didn't test the steering in this car. Car pulls timing bad in summer. You will get one pull in one gear. The next gear you might have to wait 2-3 seconds for boost again. Handling is great and fuel economy is also great. Shifter feels great even though 2nd can be notchy and grind sometimes. Rev hang is still there and still annoying. Should be the most reliable sport compact but has a lot of issues. A decent buy at MSRP but a lot of issues and a cheap sounding interior dampens the experience.

So near perfect, yet so far from perfect

Bear in mind, I am reviewing the 2022 Touring Civic and all the equipment that comes with it. This is my fourth Civic since 2013, I'm very familiar with this car. Exterior Styling: a very attractive vehicle. Mine is black and when clean it is almost a head turner. Put the four AUDI Os on the front and no one would know. Honda has turned the Civic into a beautiful car. The alloy wheels are also very classy looking. The hood and roofline are almost retro looking due the soft angles and rounded contours. It's as if they were inspired by the designs of vehicles in the 40's. Interior styling: Beautiful to look at. The honeycomb grate running along the dash is genius. The car is still a civic inside, but that grate adds a big dash of panache. It is shiny black plastic which would benefit from an upgrade to, say, a silver metallic brush type of finish. I expect to see it in subsequent iterations of this model. The joystick levers for the vents are very functional and very easy to use. Everything feels solid. Engine. I love it. the three way power switch really does work in a very obvious manner (unlike the old econ and regular which were different, but nothing amazing). In Economy mode, the car has more pep and acceleration than previous civics. The regular mode gives a quite noticeable power boost. The sport mode is fantastic for zipping onto a highway or moving past someone in a hurry. Brakes: excellent. Handling: Very, very good. The 18" tires have a lot to do with this, but see the problems they help cause, below. The best handling of any civic I've owned. Bose sound system - Fantastic. Sensors: the sensors on this car (approaching vehicle, back up, approaching object, etc.) are excellent. Better than on my Subaru outback--which is very good. Gas Mileage- Amazing. I easily get into the 40 MPH realm on the highway. More aggressive driving will diminish, but the MPG on this Civic is the best yet. NOW, HERE ARE THE PROBLEMS AND THEY ARE BIG Lumbar support - remember, this is supposedly a "Touring" model. Lumbar support is virtually non-existent. It is hard to understand how Honda missed this as it takes about twenty minutes of driving to realize the problem. It's hard to do any real "touring" when the back support is so poor. I'm going to buy a separate lumbar pillow. Inexcusable, Honda. Cabin noise - this "touring" vehicle is one of the noisiest cabins I've ever been in; not due to wind noise, but road noise. It is so prominent that on most highways the voice controls won't work properly--the noise interferes with your commands! And this isn't due solely to the 18" tires--the cabin obviously needs some serious noise dampening if this is going to be a "touring" model. I dread this winter when I have to put on snow tires. Seating - The buckets are very "tight"--not very comfortable, although the lumbar issue may exaggerate this. The front driver seat should be able to go about 1" higher. It sits too low at it's highest point so I'm constantly adjusting to get a good view of the road. I'm 5'9". Shocks - the shocks on this "touring" model are, well, shocking. They do not absorb jolts well at all. relatively minor bumps will jar the car VERY hard. It's another unforgivable issue with a "touring" model. Electronics - the infotainment screen is maddeningly and unnecessarily confusing. My Subaru outback system is much more user friendly and intuitive. Bottom line: Honda, don't put a "touring" sticker on a car unless you mean it. I know it's just a civic, but, really, the above issues are inexcusable. I would have preferred an EXL model rather than have to upgrade financially to a "touring" model just to get leather and a better sound system. If you want leather you have to pay for a touring model. All in all, an excellent car with glaring and incomprehensible deficits. Is it my favorite civic thus far? I guess so, but a few easy upgrades of serious deficits would have made this car the best car in it's class and even some higher classes. I anticipate that Honda will address these issues in the next few years of this models existence. I wish I would have waited for them to do it.

11th Generation, Best Civic Yet

2022 Honda Civic Touring 4dr Sedan (1.5L 4cyl Turbo CVT)

Traded a 10th Generation Civic EXL for the new redesigned Civic Touring in Platinum White Pearl. I was a little reluctant to trade at first but the new 2022 is such a better car. The 1.5 turbo engine in both feel great, not much difference but the CVT in the 2022 is much more refined. Driving this car is a pleasure. It accelerates briskly and handles the curves like a sports car. The Touring model I chose has all the options the Civic offers. The quality of the leather is better and the seats are much more comfortable than the older model. The BOSE stereo sounds very good and makes the drive even more pleasurable. Unfortunately the Goodyear Eagle tires Honda chose are a bit loud, so loud I replaced them almost immediately which made a big improvement. So far with 1800 miles I'm averaging 35.8 mpg and creeping up a tenth every week while back & forth to work. All the safety feature of the Honda Sensing are a little overwhelming but it's nice to know it's there to help. I really like the blind spot monitoring. Has already got me out of a potential jam once. Something my other Civic didn't have. I looked at the competition. None were the total package like the new Civic. Did I also say I think the new look is a winner.

2022 Honda Civic LX 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl CVT)

I recently moved into a Civic LX sedan after driving a 2016 Lexus for 6 years. I am extremely happy with the feature set as well as the fit and finish of the Civic. I expected to be pretty underwhelmed after moving from a car that had an MSRP of over double my new LX but I couldn’t have been more wrong. The handling at everyday driving speeds is more than fair, the steering feels tight and responsive. The ride is much smoother than I anticipated. I wouldn’t take it down winding roads for a joy ride but I don’t think many people that are considering a Civic would. It’s a car that knows what it is, a everyday driver with good fuel economy and a solid set of quality of life features. One negative I noticed is that I think they missed the mark a bit by not including TPMS sensors but at the price point I can’t complain too much. It’s a fairly robust package either way. I'm editing this review now much later to share some problems I have had with this vehicle. The windshield wipers are the most poorly designed thing on the car. I cannot believe the current iteration was allowed to make it out of the design phase. First of all, in order to raise the wipers (Freezing Rain, Cold snowing conditions) you have to put your wipers in "service mode". The consequences of not doing this is damage to the paint on your hood! Ask me how I know! The wipers themselves are hilariously bad. Poor contact to the windshield, a streaky mess. As an added bonus you cannot put on a 3rd party wiper because Honda has graciously given us a proprietary clip so good luck. You get garbage and you will like it. Lastly, mounting the sprayers for the washer fluid on the wipers is an absolute smooth brain move. They freeze, the sprayers get clogged with ice and snow. Its a disaster. The exterior styling is another plus for me as I like the revamped front end, it’s sleek and aggressive compared to older Civic models. The rear of the car could use the same treatment, it’s a bit safe for my tastes styling wise but I wouldn’t call it ugly. Pros: Handling Feature Set (Auto High Beams, Lane Departure, Adaptive Cruise, Blind Spot Detection, Collision Avoidance, Apple Car Play) Exterior Styling Fit and Finish Fuel Economy Cons: No TPMS Inability to default Auto Engine Stop to Off The 2022 Civic LX may not be the cheapest car in its class but I think the combination of sleek modern styling coupled with a robust feature package make me glad I chose it over competitors in its segment.

I've owned a bunch of civics a 2007 2010 2017 and now a 2022 all have been very reliable cars to date, this one looks fantastic the redesign looks great inside and out but I have a few complaints, the seats much like the 2017 are miserable for long trips minimal lumbar support and rock hard honda needs to fire their seat designer, road noise, I only have an lx model but it is God awfully loud on anything other than glass smooth pavement, electronics I've had a few occasions where my cruise would suddenly stop working no idea why but it just did also twice its told me to take it to the dealer for a fob issue which then disappeared the car has 5 years of warranty but these issues started I the first month which makes me nervous for rhe long term, if honda put better seats, better noise reduction and less finicky electronics this car would 100% be the best in its clas sbecsuse its gorgeous exceptionally good on gas has a great layout and driving mechanics etc...... it just needs perfecting, UPDATE the car has no ac no cruise drivers seat is showing unreasonable signs of wear after 6 months the infotainment system is wonky and one of my fobs triggers the anti theft system oh and the windshield squirter don't work.... I'm beyond livid honda has no parts to replace the defective ones and hasn't since April whe t he problems started and I have received no date that any of the issues will be fixed... the build quality of this car is nowhere near what I expect being long time honda owner and despite supply chain issues customers that buy new vehicles should have issues addressed In a timely manner and I have not... my next vehicle will be a Toyota as the whole experience with this car has been a supreme p!$$ off

Unsafe Significant unaddressed safety issues

I would not let my family drive in this car. I have had an issue with my steering for three months... Three months! At highway speeds after driving for close to a half hour the steering wheel sticks in the dead center position and requires quite a bit of force to make minor corrections, resulting in oversteer. Honda will not test drive the car long enough to replicate the errors. I have tracking that tells me they drove it on the highway for 8 minutes. I've been dealing with Honda's legal department and they have gone quiet. Do not buy this car.

It's a car with good handling

The safety features are pretty useless. I like the forward collision warning. I don't like the forward Collision braking. It's braked the car a few times in the last 10k miles and the only way to stop it is give it gas while it's braking and hope it stops. Great for the engine. Lane departure assist will swerve all over si I turned it off. Auto high beams should be off by default as they stay on far too often blinding others. Adaptive cruise control feels sloppy like a teenager learning how much pressure to use for the brakes. Also even the closest following distance is too far away. People will cut you off. Regular cruise control works okay but again the car will brake for you and it's very jarring. I went from using cruise everyday in my last 2 cars to almost never in this car. Bose system is okay but causes the vehicle to rattle like it's not made for the speakers that are in this car. Big disappointment with removal of dual zone climate control, heated seats and fog lights. Blind spot monitoring is actually nice to have and a feature that works well. Good job Honda. Active lane keep I nice for long trips but it gets confused by cracks in the pavement so be prepared to fight it. Backup camera is off center making reversing straight more of a guessing game than it needs to be. Idle stop/start doesn't make sense on a turbo engine and it will cause unnecessary wear on the turbo. Get used to turning it off every time you get in the car. The shifter is nice and the car gets good fuel economy, however the engine is an economy engine. The engine tuning is the biggest downside of this car. Each shift the car holds revs. This requires either riding the clutch to upshift normally, or waiting an additional second between shifts. The car feels like it has maybe 160hp in arizona summers due to extreme turbo heat soak. Because the engine is so small, expect to be in boost to keep with traffic while accelerating. This car will require a lot of effort to accelerate quick and minivans and cuv's will be pulling on you. This car is way too slow for what it should be. Honda also tuned in turbo lag to help with stress on the connecting rods. This car really needs a tune, not for power, but because every decision for this "sport" injected engine is designed for economy. The engine would probably feel better with an automatic. Between the safety tech and engine this car feels like it wasn't made for a manual transmission no matter how great the shifter feels. I can't imagine the clutch and turbo lasting more than 100k miles due to the small displacement and bad tuning. The NHTSA is looking into a steering issue so hopefully that gets fixed. The interior looks nice but rattles more than a versa rental I had. Not even joking. It's poor. Dash cracks and pops. Headliner rattles, b-pillar rattles, rear deck rattles, doors rattle with music, rattles behind steering wheel, dash rattles 3700-4000 rpm. I brought it in to honda and the guy went on a drive with me and said "it's one of the more quiet civics I've heard." My wife's 9th gen has less interior noises. The 9 inch touchscreen is nice but get that TSB done for the rattling. Exterior styling is good but windshield wipers are genuine a** and waste a ton of fluid to clean anything. They also have a proprietary design. Very thoughtful Honda. Interior styling is good but sounds like a can full of rocks. I don't think I want to keep this car much longer. I really don't like the direction Honda is going. Let's be more German and move upmarket but not think things through and polish anything. Let's just make it look nice. The car gets good economy, has a great shifter and handles very well. That's about all I have to say about it. Buy if you want. This car needs a tune. Not for power. The L15CA isn't a power engine. Just for drivability. Could also use a large intercooler for Summers. If you want a manual car that's a good handler and doesn't break the bank, this is it. If you want anything more than okay acceleration, buy another car. If you have any kind of OCD with interior noises don't buy. Expect to disable most if not all honda sense options. They are just bad and feel like a beta test.

With gasoline prices soaring and scarcity of new car inventory, I was fortunate enough to locate ONE new Civic Touring Edition at a dealer 70 miles away. The Touring Edition is LOADED with fantastic features, an entirely futuristic interior design, exceptionally comfortable leather seats, and a longer wheelbase making it very close to Accord size in appearance! All of this listing for $29,000! I love finding an excuse to drive it someplace as it’s FUN and SPORTY and has settled in at a steady 39.5 mpg! UPDATE: I got the 2022 Civic Touring on Oct 11, 2021 and to date have happily driven it just short of 23,000 miles. The unexpected smoothness, highly appreciated quality, modern interior design, surprising power coupled with the consistent 39.8 mpg has been a TOTAL pleasure for me! It has every safety gadget you could ask for and has the comfort of a luxury sedan and the feel of a sports car! I suggest, if you can find one, to pay the difference for the Touring version as it is absolutely a different car from the other versions! Not ONE issue or disappointment after nearly 16 months of enjoyment!

I have the 2022 Civic Sport and it's honestly the best car I have till date. Honda really went out of their way with new features in this car and she is a beauty. The front end definitely grew on me and it rides very smoothly. I traded in my 2020 LX model for this car and I love everything about it. The push-button start, keyless entry, redesigned interior, upgraded infotainment system, remote engine start, and I can go on and on and on. Best bang for your buck!!!

Would be Perfect with different Tires

Have owned Accords and Civics since 1978. I traded my 2020 Civic EX in for a white with gray interior 2022 Civic Touring. I only have one complaint about the car - road noise along with a suspension that is, in my opinion, much too sporty for a "Touring". Reduced the rating by one star because I had to replace the GoodYear Sport tires with Michelin Touring tires to eliminate the road noise and improve the ride.

Within the first month of ownership the entire engine cover came off on the freeway. Then another piece came off 1 month later. Both fixed at dealership on separate occasions. The air flow lighting has never worked or lit up. I thought that was just the way it was. I was wrong. Taking that to get fixed. Dashboard makes cracking noises when going over bumps. Electric seats make creaking noises when moving. Audio cuts in and out constantly and navigation screen gets blurry and freezes. Averaging 27mpg constantly no matter how I drive. I just don’t understand what’s going on. I have a 2003 Honda Civic with 400,000 miles. I’ve never had issues with that car like this 2022 touring. Six months in on a brand new car and I can’t wait to get rid of it. It looks nice but it is complete crap.

Within 10-hours after purchase, the defroster stopped working followed by the air-conditioning immediately afterwards. Took it back to the dealer and it's been with them for over a week. I may not get my car back for several weeks as it's difficult to get the electrical replacement parts probably due to chip component shortage. Not very happy with this purchase.

Love my civic touring hatchback , I used to buy more expensive cars but when I saw the civic was love at first sight , to me , small outside but normal car inside , all modern tech , park sensors , the whole package, and the experience has been very good so far , runs great , fun to drive , some rattles here and there but other than that great , fully recommend. Be aware dealers are becoming very abusive ( more that they were before ) and they are over charging.

Not for Canadian Winter driving

Derek S, 07/22/2022

I wanted to love this car. I had Civics in the past and loved them. However I am disappointed with the direction that Honda has taken. They advertise safety features that are more disruptive and distracting. The fuel efficiency features are mediocre in savings but will cost more in the long run. Firstly I will address the safety package. The lane departure warning does not work well when roads are partly covered in snow. And in Canada that is frequent. When the car is driving along snow covered road, then detects a bare patch of road, it will sound alarms. It is counter intuitive to safe driving in snow. When driving in wet snow the surfaces with cameras can become obscured causing warnings to appear on the dash. Another distraction to the driver that is not necessary. The placement of the rear back up camera also get covered with water and snow quickly because it is in an alcove. I had a Hyundai just before the Civic, and the placement was different and I had less problems. The washer fluid sprayer is on the wiper blades and when there is any little bit of ice or salt it prevents an even spread on the windshield which then also affects one of the forward cameras. An annoyance to me is also that the wiper blades tuck under the hood so when you are trying to brush snow and ice, you cannot lift the blades to do that. The blowers are also under powered. When you are driving in extremes, the car cannot keep up clearing the window even with the blowers on full, which is also extremely loud. I was driving in -18 degrees and had to have the defrost on full just to prevent the windows from fogging up. If I switched to split defrost and floor, to get some heat in the rest of the car, the windows fogged up again. Not very safe. The convenience feature of the in car microphone is also hamper by the defrost blower. I have had people ask me if I have all the windows open when speaking on the handsfree. I notice that the blowers will automatically turn down when engaging the handsfree function. So they are aware of the flaw! The fuel economy saving function of the idle off is annoying and short sighted. Honda is not alone in this function. I have seen it on a Ford as well. The short term gain of a few moments of idle off puts more wear on the started as well as puts more lifecycles through the battery. The Ford that I had seen it on, now automatically restarts because the battery is weak and the car is only 3 years old. Not saying it is 100 percent the fault of the idle off but it doesn’t help. And there is no way to permanently disable the feature unless you go aftermarket. I now have start car and I automatically turn it off. The remote start range is terrible. I would save just over 200 feet. My old Kia was much better than that so that you could start car from inside a restaurant. Can’t do that with the Civic. I have also had to replace two separate parts on the car with less than 5000km. One was a camera and the other a sway bar(those usually fail after rough driving or long term wear, both of which were not the case). I hope this doesn’t foreshadow other issues because Honda is supposed to reliable. Again a feature I loved about my previous ones. The multiple message centres are also distracting. If you change a setting on the blower for example, it will appear on the console behind steering and the radio console as well. The flashing acts to distract and if are trying to see where to look for the message, it means you are not looking at the road. Several safety feature also operate that way, forcing you to look at message centre instead of on the road. I have spent enough of my life driving (30 years), cars and trucks to know that the problems are on the roads and that is where your attention should be. The small convenience feature of automatic high beam should be illegal. When driving on the highway at night, the car will not always detect oncoming cars and vlimd other drivers. I have had that happen to me and people have flashed me until I realized that was happening with own car too. It is a dumb idea. If you need your car to tell you when to turn on high beams, you should not be driving at night. I have a lot of small issues but they build to a lot of frustration. I drive over 200 km each day so the issues are in my face. I will also note, this is why it is isn’t 0 stars, that the fuel efficiency is great. For a commuter car it is needed. I would say that it would be even more efficient if it didn’t have the safety package draining electricity. I do like the eco option for fuel efficiency as most of my commute is highway driving. I also find that there is excellent space in front for two adults. I am tall I am comfortable in my seat. However my passenger behind me isn’t. I accept that space issue as it is a compact car. Just don’t tell me it seats 4 comfortably. Just two will be comfortable. Trunk space is a good size and I can fit most everything I take with me in there. Take off power is good(when the idle off is disengaged). The car also handles fairly well in the snow with its low profile. That was something stellar about my previous Civics In that I never got stuck in snow when I saw people with 4 wheel drive having problems. At this point, I will not be buying another Honda as many of the issues I have(safety features that don’t work properly and distracting features like the console messaging set up) is the same across all Hondas. It seems they have changed their focus from being a simple reliable car to being that tries (and fails) todo a bit of everything. I feel like it is designed by engineers looking to pack as many cool and neat gadgets into the car and straying away from the practical aspects of driving. The features that I like of This Civic are found in other manufacturers and once this lease is up, I will be going elsewhere. Maybe Honda will improve with the 12th generation but I doubt it. Best car in Canada for 2022, not for me based on actual driving.

I love the new Civic, but within days, I noticed that the buttons on the dash don’t light up, and my speakers only work on the right side most of the time. When I use the phone there’s a lot of static.

This is a nice little car. The exterior is super sporty on the Sport trim. Handles very good too. On the inside is where Honda needs to step it up. The user interface is light years behind what other companies offer. Also the rear seating has nothing to assist a person in the modern age. No cup holders, no phone chargers. Really unacceptable to me for a model year 2022 to not have USB ports,12v or Lightning ports. Honda should be ashamed.

Mine is a 2022 Civic Touring sedan. Most of my comments will be based on the influence of the driving experience of my other vehicle, a Mazda CX5, and my previously owned 2008 Civic sedan. The Civic is actually a bigger vehicle than my CX5, hard to tell from the exterior though. It got a longer measurement & bigger EPA interior space! Very roomy inside, generous trunk space & 2nd-row legroom. It drives like a bigger car now, but still retains the peppiness in the older generation. Transmission is a CVT, but it's responsive & well-tuned, no complaint here. Suspension is sporty & calculated to reflect its design, expect a bit of hardness here though. But the cornering capability of this vehicle is awesome. The turbo engine is powerful & responsive enough to make the driver feels confident in most of the driving scenarios, highway passing, or average cruising. It saves gas, a lot... only consumes 65% of my CX5's city driving mileage. CONS: 1)You'll be sitting close to the ground, some people may not like it. 2) Interior noise level kind of too high...probably because of the noise of the tires. 3)Those high-tech sensors are kind of annoying, giving you all kinds of warnings pre-maturely. (well, not really a cons to some other people I guess) Conclusion: I am expecting to enjoy this vehicle's service for a long time :)

Remote start starts the car but that's all, all accessories don't. Means no heat, no ac, no radio. Nothing. Went back to dealership and they ran all kinds of diagnostics and nothing. So now they made a tech ticket, to see if others are having issues. Their other 2 new cars in lot are doing the same thing!! Otherwise I love my red 2022 civic.

I looked at 2 ( new ) 2022 Honda Civic hatchbacks with Sport trim. one, with Sonic Grey paint, has paint run & rough edges on left top near hatch. paint quality has been a constant hit & miss from Honda, and no sign anything is going to be done to address this. these vehicles pass Honda's " quality control " from manufacturing plants. Honda leaves problems to their dealer network to address.

I got my 2022 Honda Civic Sports in pearl black last August and I love that car and I always take care of it and drive it very carefully until winter came my love for it started to feel like regrets. I lived in Edmonton, Alberta Canada were the weather is brutally cold and snowy, really thought this car could withstand the -40°C weather but it didn't. It got worst one day, all of a sudden Multiple problems started popping out of my dashboard, I thought it is normal and would go away when cold started to decrease for a little but it stayed lit for a good 3 weeks and had to bring it to the dealership. They told me that the car have factory defect on its Camera sensor that triggers the warnings. After all of the stress I experience I really thought it is my fault but it is the car itself that fails me and I am truly regretting to trust my investment on Honda cars, I should have went to Mitsubishi or Toyota.

2022 Civic Sport—a class above

Evan L., 02/17/2022

PROS: Clean and mature styling inside and out; excellent ergonomics—all controls are within reach and easy to read; good feature content for the Sport model (18” gloss black wheels and outside mirrors; chrome exhaust pipe; smart key with remote engine start; all black interior including headliner and cloth/leatherette combo seats; 3-mode switch with ECO-NORMAL-SPORT modes; leather wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters, aluminum pedals, 8-speaker audio system); LED headlights/tail lights and the majority of safety/accident avoidance systems are standard; very fun to drive with excellent steering, braking and handling; solid build quality inside and out—no rattles and everything feels first rate; decent fuel economy—I drive in NORMAL mode 99% of the time and average 28-30 mpg in 50/50 combined driving. CONS: The 2.0L engine that comes with the LX and Sport models is adequate but could use a bit more torque on the highway when trying to do passing maneuvers; bluetooth voice commands are useless (the audio screen says that my phone is not compatible with voice commands which seems odd since I have a two year old iPhone SE); the plastic on the bottom door trim scuffs easily so be careful with your feet when exiting the vehicle; the horn could be louder/beefier. CONCLUSION: I enjoy my 2022 Civic Sport sedan which has the right amount of features for me—a good value for a car that has an MSRP in the low 24K range. I look forward to driving it anywhere and everywhere. It has plenty of interior room so you won’t feel claustrophobic and trunk room is excellent. This is a modern version of the current generation Honda Accord in a lot of ways. I’ve had my Civic for just over 4 months and 3100 miles and no issues to report. If you test drive a Civic with the 2.0L engine and find it’s lacking in power then I would recommend going with the EX sedan (or EX-L hatchback) which come with the 1.5L turbo and additional features (these two models list for 26-28K range). The positives far outweigh the negatives so the 2022 Civic is a vehicle I would recommend without hesitation (especially if you stay in the lower to mid level trims).

Just purchased in white pearl($395)-add on, black leather interior. LOVE it so far, no bad paint job, the only thing i wish is in the sport touring model is that there were back seat ac vents placed somewhere, a drivers side memory seat, and a front center storage compartment. I mean the wireless charging pad is good too. Other then that all around good looking car inside and out.

The civic is a solid, sporty car that’s fun to drive. The turbo is smooth and there is no hesitation when entering a freeway. It’s surprisingly roomy with a well thought out interior. There is a problem with the hatch. It’s made out of a carbon material. Mine expanded in the heat and a triangular piece of the hatch approximately 3/4 broke off due to not enough clearance between the hatch and the body of the car. Honda agreed to fix it but The car will be in the shop for an undetermined length of time. The repair took a month to fix but there have been no further issues. It’s a quality car, still love it. I have over 10,000 miles on the Civic and no further issues with the hatchback. Still fun to drive, smooth acceleration and the visibility while driving is good. I love all the built in safety features. It’s a keeper!

I've had my 2022 Civic Sport for 3 months. I've owned several model years of Civics. Th2 2022 Civic Sport is a DUD! Very little power in acceleration and not fun to drive as Honda advertises. They also removed many comfort items from the 2022 Civic Sport. You used to get a sun-roof. Not anymore. Instead you get 18" wheels. The car controls how you drive with little to no options to adjust controls such as Lane Assist and other items. You can't program the doors to lock automatically either. This is the slowest Civic I have owned. No turbo unless you go to the EX Model. Not great on fuel economy either. Thank God I'm only leasing this for 3 years. A positive note is that the car looks good inside and out, but that's about all the good I can speak of. Honda missed the mark on this generation of Civic Sport. Hate it!!!

I leased this car November 2021, it’s my first Honda coming from owning Toyotas. The first year was mostly trouble free the only “issue” I had was my cruise control would stop working and not turn back on unless I turned my car off then back on again. Almost every time I’m on the interstate going between 69-72 mph my RPM’s will start fluttering, feels like I’m behind a semi. A few weeks ago I was driving and all my warning lights came on on my dash, the next day my car died and wouldn’t start. A couple days later I was parked at the mall and was leaving to go to work and it wouldn’t start again (I hate to walk to work.) after it say for the 8 hours I was at work I walked back over and it started. As I was driving home all the warning lights came back on. I took it to Honda but they wouldn’t look at it until I made an appointment for a week later. I took it in and of course they found nothing wrong with it. When I’m at a stop light and the start stop does it’s thing it’s so clunky sounding. The interior creeks and rattles so bad even on a smooth road. I love the looks of the car but I am so happy I decided to lease this car rather than being stuck with it. Update: Ended my lease early, traded it in on a 2019 Toyota Prius Limited. They have the Civic for sale for almost $28k! I hope no one pays that for that car.

My 2022 Honda Civic was great for the first year Igor in my car the next summer of 2023 with 37000 in’s and turned on the ac to cool off To my surprise I was only getting hot air I called the nearest Honda dealer to book a appointment for inspection The dealer charged me $640 for the diagnostic and Freon I wasn’t happy The tech told me there was no Freon and they could not find a leak I brought back my car 2 weeks later to have the technician tell me that a rock hit the condenser and that’s why I have no ac 37000 Kim’s this is unacceptable Honda wants $1678 to fix the ac and I could drive down the road and get another stone hit the condenser I also forgot to mention the dealer refunded the $640 for the diagnostic Out of good will I don’t by that at all I live in Toronto Ontario with lots of construction going on all the time I think this is a bad design as rocks shouldn’t be damaging your ac condenser so to make a long story short I am fighting with Honda canada because they won’t cover the repair under warranty with 37000 Kim’s Also forgot to mention my wife and son also bought 2022 civics and have bought many hondas from honda dealer ships I don’t think this is a good way to treat your loyal customers shame on honda

Beautiful car.....very poor design. Can't lift the windshield wipers up to clear all the snow. The windshield washer dispenser on the blades is terrible. The side windows has a large gap and ice builds up and you are not able to roll your windows down. The water run off goes into the truck and freezes. If you open the truck you habe to chip all that ice away for it to close again. Mine has a bad squeek from the suspension, it been to the shop 3 times and they still haven't fixed it. This is my first honda of my own and my last. I was super pumped to own a Honda, they last forever. I have never been so disappointed in a vehicle. I have had it for 16m and I am getting rid of it.

I love my new car. The safety features are very helpful. The only thing that can be annoying is at night country roads it can get confused with going off road even though it is on the road. Sometimes vechiles parked can confuse the auto cruise and slow down the car as if getting close to one. Along with people making turns that the vehicle slows down longer than needed for the person turn even though they are no longer in front of the vehicle. Other than those the vehicle safety is very useful. The Bluetooth connection and system is awesome and easy to use. The space for this car has being a smaller vehicle is very nice and useful compared to the civic sedan I had before this. The vehicle having automatic windshield can be helpful as well. I highly suggest this vehicle if you find interest in it.

After buying the 2022 Honda Civic EX, I was pleasantly impressed with how much torque and horsepower the L1B7 1.5T had for such a small displacement engine. Coming from a 2017 Elantra with the 2.0 Atkinson engine, I believe the Honda engine is increasingly more responsive in city and highway driving. With the turbo engine, I can sit the engine in its 1,700-4,500 rpm torque range and fly off without the engine screaming or overworking like in the Elantra. I absolutely love the exterior styling which mimics the 10th generation accord. I also noticed that the front A pillars mimic the similar slope and curve of the 2001-2005 civic. My ear has taken a liking to how the 1.5T sounds when approaching 3,000 rpm. However, revving the Honda engine past 5,000 rpm doesn’t really add any more power, and sounds like the engine will tear itself apart if you floor it to redline. Since its a turbo engine, changing the oil which also cools the turbo will be of utmost importance to ensure longevity of the engine and the TD03 Mitsubishi turbo. When my friends are in the car, the engine has plenty of acceleration where as in the Elantra and my old 2001 Civic EX, the engine would scream but I didn’t feel any acceleration just an overworked engine. The moonroof is also an excellent feature that I had in my 2001 Civic. I’m blessed to have heated front seats and fell in love with the remote start feature so in the winter time, I just have to start the engine from inside the house and let the car defrost the windows and heat up the car. Sadly, the remote start only keeps the engine on for 10 minute increments. You have to restart the engine for another 10 minutes after it shuts off from the initial 10 minute remote start. I love the Agean blue color. Another feature I really liked were the LED front headlights. I don’t see well to begin with and especially at night it’s helpful to have bright LED’s to assist you in driving at night if you must. Some aspects I wish were different include not having Sirius XM Satellite radio as an option on the EX trim. I had XM radio standard on my 2017 Elantra SE with the popular equipment package. However, I don’t listen to XM radio anymore. I hardly ever use the radio unless I have my IPhone plugged into the CarPlay. Annoyingly, the car has a smaller gas tank than my 2017 Elantra. The Civic EX has a 12.4 gallon tank, while the 2017 Elantra had a 14 gallon tank. They both get similar gas mileage, although. I frequently have to fill up the 2022 Civic more often than my 2017 Elantra. I can go almost 2 weeks with my 2022 Civic, while my old 2017 Elantra I could go almost 3 weeks. But, it’s not much of a difference. I don’t drive long distances often, and mostly drive in the suburbs. Another structural feature I wasn’t happy to find out about the 2022 Civic was that Honda decided to use a rigid plastic engine mount for the rear engine mount which I hope will not be prone to cracking or failing suddenly. I also researched online and found out that one of the suspension brackets in the rear of the Civic is made partly with aluminum instead of all stamped steel. Maybe, the car engineers have been able to use higher strength aluminum for weight saving design and better mpgs. I just know that aluminum is not as malleable as steel and can be prone to fracture failures. Hopefully. The aluminum they used is as strong as the steel they used in the rest of the car. Overall, I love my 2022 Honda Civic EX, and I’m extremely satisfied with my decision to purchase this exquisite piece of machinery.

I absolutely love my new 2022 Honda Civic Sport in rallye red! It is gorgeous! I love how eye catching this car is and how it stands out wherever I go. It is an amazing new design. It is very fun to drive. I love being able to change the driving modes to normal, sport, or eco. I also have been enjoying listening to my music via bluetooth. The seats are super comfortable. The red color, shiny black rims of the tires, and the entire interior is wonderful! I like the honeycomb detail on the inside near the vents. Highly recommend this car! This is actually my first new car I've ever had so it is very special to me!

Old time reliability in a newly designed Civic. So, the interior looks nice and the exterior as well. Can't help that the Sport model looks good but has the anemic base engine. Honda could have done so much more with it like placing the 1.5 turbo in all of the entire line. Then when all you want is the good looking sport model with automatic and 1.5 turbo, YOU CANNOT HAVE IT! So, you try to move up line the you have to either get the EX or Touring. Well, if they ever, EVER make the Civic Si with an automatic, I might switch back to Honda, For now, if I want anemic performance with great gas mileage, I will get the base Ford Maverick for less than $20,000 .

The car is very spacious- especially in the trunk area. The paddle shifters make for quick passing on the highway when necessary, but the CVT is best left to its own devices if driving back roads in sport mode. Very underpowered engine that, when combined with the CVT, sounds like an angry hornet nest while trying to get up to highway speeds. Leather trim is a nice touch on seats that sit way down into the vehicle to add a sportier feel, but the leather has started to wear out after only 15k miles. Lack of lumbar support can get old on long drives. Highway noise is definitely a factor, but the premium Bose sound system helps drown it out. The A/C developed a ticking/whirring noise at about 10k miles, and the dealership basically shrugged it off as my problem to deal with, so I will need to schedule a warranty service to address that. The back end looks way better with the update. Overall, it’s a good daily driver that allows you to have a little bit of fun on your commute if your commute has a lot of back road driving.

Accelleration and handling are excellent, great shifter and tech features. Ride more harsh then expected on non perfect road surfaces. Drivers seat somewhat cramped and uncomfortable on long trips.

Quality is worse then ever, power is horrible. The body lines between panels is 3/16 to over 1/4" on the doors, looks horrible. Ride quality is good, interior is less then average from what I have seen by other manufacturers.

I have less than 500 miles on my new Civic. I got the Sport Sedan with the 2.0 NA motor. When I first drove it I was in love. The styling is amazing and the ride is smooth and quiet. I loved everything about this car for the first few days. The last 3 days have been a nightmare with this car. I was driving down the highway and went to pass a vehicle. As I got on the gas and switched lanes the car reved up and then immediately lost all power. I went to step on the gas again and it did the same thing. I thought maybe it was a fluke with the traction control or something. It happened a few more times the last two days while trying to pass someone. I wish Honda would get away from the CVT transmissions. This car doesn't even have 200hp and the "transmission" can't even handle that. Get back to real transmissions with actual gears instead of belts. I can't wait to get into something different. I hate this car so much I'm highly considering taking a big hit on trade just to get rid of it.

Still low to the ground?

I drove Honda Accords (LX) from 1990 to 2018, then bought a Civic to save money. My 2006 Accord EX was wonderful, like they had built it for me, but it was getting old, so I bought the Civic. I hate it. It IS a beautiful car, but that's it. Its so low to the ground I can't even do drive-up banking. And I don't know why -- shorter wheelbase front to back? -- but every time I have to make a right turn, I run over the curb with the right back wheel. You'd think after 4 years I would have figured out how to turn right. My previous 61 years of driving were outstanding. Back to the car: I don't think there's good trunk space. I'm 5'4" and I can't make the driver's seat high enough to see well, have to use a pillow, which is a real pain. The windshield wipers are schizophrenic, the gas mileage is only 3 mpg better than my 2008 Accord's (not using the turbo). The red line in the right-hand mirror showing you when its safe to change lanes to the right is great. Over-the-shoulder left-hand checking for lane change clearance is good - very clear. Inferior tires.

Don't like this new design....can't get to the outside door lock without standing on your head. Hate the engine shutdown at stops and it is so plain compared to the 2017 Civic we had. Also hate how they placed the infotainment center on this car. This was a big mistake on Honda. Think alot of these cars will become trade ins
