Currently have 25,000K. Vehicle nothing but a headache. Problems with drivetrain - shifts hard and vibrates. Ford already replaced all 4 tires at not charge (tires replaced at 23,000K), still can't fix vibration or shift problems. Interior flaws - ticking sound in front dash. Ford can't fix that either. Hatch replaced once already. Still leaks and doesn't close flush. I love this vehicle but without the problems. Don't buy this model year. Also, if you have dogs, don't get the 3rd row seat. Dog keeps falling between the 2nd and 3rd row (with the 3rd row folded flat). Dog manages to slide the panel back every time and fall in. (I have a lab.)

Ford Explorer XLT
The only problem I had in over 50,000 miles was the sensors on the 4WD - they had to be replaced once and cleaned several times.
Solid
Excellent value for a sport utility.
emmision problems
I drove for six months with the "new engine smell", I thought, to find out the catalytic converter was bad. Had to wait a week to get a new one. Back to dealership for that only to have service engine soon light come on. Now it has a bad oxygen sensor. Wait again for that to be replaced. Picked it up and now the idle is bad and it is back in the service dept. I don't know if this is a sign of a "lemon" or a bad service department. But my original excitement is starting to wane.
