Awesome for a V6, but terrible resale value
UPDATE on 4.12.2016: I've had this car as my daily driver since 7.23.2015, so about 9 months by now. Bought it brand new back then and thought it was the best thing ever. As it's a V6 I've been driving to dealerships lately to weigh my options on upgrading to a V8. Since I'm mostly driven by the exhaust systems I've got my eyes on the newer 5.0 Mustang GT's. A Ford dealer did a quick appraisal of my garage-kept, trophy-winning Challenger and I must say I was quite disappointed with the rapid depreciation of the car. One thing's for sure, I won't be buying anymore sports cars in generic colors like black anymore. I'll be looking into something that holds its value longer such as a Roush/Boss, etc. This has been a great car, but when I'm upgrading to a V8 I don't want a Challenger R/T when you figure the engine displacement to power ratio compared to other brands. But as far as V6's go the Challenger is, hands down, the coolest of the bunch, so I can't say I regret my purchase. The power has been great, especially with the K&N cold air intake I installed within a month after buying it. That improved the motor sound considerably and has tamed the fuel consumption a good bit as well. Overall fuel consumption is good for a 4,000 lb. car, but I can already tell it's deteriorated slightly in the short amount of time I've owned her. I would say it may already be time for a fuel system flush, but seems too early to be necessary. I don't know if that's a Dodge thing or what, but our Fusion with 63,000 miles on it seems to be holding its average MPG quite well in comparison. I updated my rating on the comfort category simply due to me recently having issues with the wheel base(s) squeaking whenever I go over minor bumps like in a poorly constructed parking lot. When I took it into the dealership to have them investigate it they told me the most ridiculous statement I'd ever heard - "It's metal and plastic and it'll squeak when they rub together". Thank you, Sherlock, but of all the cars (which every car out there has metal rubbing against plastic at the wheels) I've driven none of them squeak over such small bumps, and I don't want to hear it happening on a car I've had for only 9 months. Then there was the issue with the transmission. I've adored and still do adore the ZF8HP 8-speed automatic from Germany. However, I never drive it in sport mode unless I'm using the paddle shifters as a manual due to this ongoing problem I've been having. In sport mode (without the paddle shifters) if you accelerate as though you would any day you're ready to get home from a 9 hour shift the transmission will start hunting for gears when it realizes you aren't necessarily driving Dukes of Hazzard style through the city. However, when it's hunting it will literally jolt the car back and forth so violently you'll feel as though you're being repeatedly rear-ended. I explained this to the, once again, oh-so-helpful Dodge dealer and they, once again, told me it was "normal". They must think I was born yesterday for me to believe that all cars do this in sport mode. All of the Mercedes I've driven, my brother's Mustang, and the plethora of rental/loaner cars I've driven in sport mode have never jolted like that in sport mode. I've just let them be as I'll, as stated, be trading it in toward another car in the next year and will simply use the paddle shifters anytime I decide to drive in sport mode.

Not For Everybody But Ideal for Some!
Supplemental review. Almost 30K miles on the car....no mechanical issues whatsoever. Still happy with my choice. I've never owned a car that made me happy to own/drive...puts a big smile on my face. No regrets about the 6 cylinder engine....doesn't have the "hemi" sound but still goes 0 to 60 in under six seconds with a satisfying engine roar. I've now owned the car 44 months...still very happy with my purchase. This car is a terrific GT car.....great for long highway cruises, so quiet and comfortable. No quality issues whatsoever...the UConnect system is terrific. Updated April 2017, owned car 25 months....still a blast to drive and look forward to motoring. Did some modifications, performance exhaust and lowering springs....great exhaust sound and better road holding now. Consistent 0-60 mph times of 5.5 seconds....no quality issues so far, everything works fine....best car I have ever owned.

What a FANTASTIC Ride ALL-AROUNG!
Things to prepare for about this vehicle weather you own the car or are looking to buy: I have a V8 5.7L Hemi (RT Plus) and I love every bit of it. Car has Sport mode to increase drone and handling when wanted. Car is smooth in terms of steering and turning compared to my previously owned vehicle ('13 Dart) and most other cars i've driven in the past. I love this car and its so comfortable. Yes, its a bit bulky, but that also means more cargo space in the trunk and NOT BEING CRUNCHED UP IN THE BACK SEAT. I've owned this car since 08/2017 and have not had ANY major maintenance issues or repairs at all (with the exception for oil changes). I'd rate this car 10/10. Beware though, You do need to put Premium Gas to get the most of your engine. I fill Premium Gas WEEKLY as its a gas guzzler. That's my only complaint. I love everything else about this car! Pros: Steering, Technology/Entertainment, Convenience Package is very good (AC/Heater and Seat Coolers/Warmers), Park Assist, Big enough Rear View Camera to see details clearly, Acceleration (obviously), etc. Cons -- POOR GAS MILEAGE (Avg. 12-14mpg -- V8), and GPS could be a bit better. But thats it, literally. Fantastic ride

Blue Beauty
The Challenger is a throw-back, true to its origins (1970-71) and I bought this car as a nostalgic tribute to my youth. It has not disappointed. While the 400 lb/ft of torque and 375 horsepower do not make this the quickest car on the street (and certainly not the quickest model of Challenger), it does deliver. I can do 0 - 60 in 5.2 seconds and when you get up to about 4,000 rpm there is a boost that gives you a rush. Weighing a little over 4,000 pounds, this car is planted and is roomy - just like most of the old muscle cars and in stark contrast to the Mustang and Camaro. Rear visibility is limited and the blind spot monitors do help. Most helpful (and this would be true for virtually any car) is the rear-cross path detection sensors. When you need to back out of a parking spot and are surrounded by SUVs and trucks, these sensors really do let you know when something (including pedestrians) is coming. While entry into the back seat is a little difficult, there is room back there and it is quite comfortable. I have had three men in the back seat and they fit quite comfortably. The trunk could be a studio apartment in some urban areas. This is a great cruiser! In-town mileage is not particularly good (15 miles to the gallon) but on trips it will do quite well on highways. I averaged 25.2 mpg on a 600 mile round-trip where 90% of the miles were driven on interstate. And I wasn't going slow. My R/T has the Super Track Pak package and you can feel it in the suspension but also when you are taking curves and corners - for a large vehicle it does very well. Color is "Jazz Blue" - very dark and rich blue - beautiful. I plan on keeping this Challenger for the rest of my life (I am 61). Now up to 7,600 miles and it is still perfect, no rattles or pings, performs as well as it did at 2,500 miles and looks like I got it off the car lot last week!

Header Orange. Love it!
This car is terrific! I ordered and leased this 2014 Header Orange RT Plus for 2 years and almost hate to give it up. And even though Dodge may not offer Orange in 2016, I'm going with Plum Crazy this time. I have to get another Challenger. I love almost everything about this car from the classic muscle car look to the sound it makes when you put your foot into it. And it just makes me feel great when I'm driving it. I have leased my last 9 cars which have all been average, but this is the first time I've ever felt like hanging on to one. I love this car! Gas mileage was expected just as the blind spot in the back. Hey, you can't have everything. It's solid and I have had no issues regarding any repairs or complaints with the car. Dodge has done well with this one and now I'm a confirmed customer.

Great Car for the Money
This car will move. People tend to give the challenger a bad rap solely based on its weight. Name me a car besides the challenger that can do a 0-60 in under 6 seconds while weighing over 2 tons being powered by a V6? None that i can think of. This car isnt a sports car, its a muscle car. Simply put this is the GT car in the pony car segment. Sure the Camaro and Mustang are quicker, but neither of them give the comfort that this car does. If your short, sure the others are better in your eyes, but if your an avg american you will love this car. Real people are over 6ft and need comfort. This car brings you this plus more. The V6 is a great engine, combine that with an AFE CAI and you get 320hp. Road trips are a dream. Some say that the MPG drops off over a period of time but i disagree. Ive had this car for 1.5 years and drove to Vegas last weekend from south orange county. Had a AVG of 31 while doing 80 there and back. Name me a sports car or Muscle car that can make it 550+ miles on a single tank when your not doing 55mph. Take this car around during the week, feel happy knowing that you can fit real adults in the back seat who are'nt 5ft and can still hold all the luggage. This car is the best all in one package.

Great PONY CAR Surprisingly roomy.
For a pony car it is quite roomy,I owned a 95 Camaro and it was cramped, seat was not low enough very poor viability . I hate my girlfriends 2012 Mustang also a cracker box. This car is a little larger than the Camaro and Mustang but has very a large interior,I am 6'3 and 250 and had no trouble fitting in car or getting in and out.Very comfortable, okay seating in the back, the Mustang rear seat is for five year olds.Nice looking inside and out, rear visablity is poor.Has more than adequate acceleration for a six cyclinder,I drove my friends Hemi version of the same car, this model has phenomenal acceleration.Sporty retro styling, cleaner lines than the Camaro or Mustang. Fun to drive makes me feel young again. Not a good family car.Not good on ice, loses traction.

Best Sportscar to Own!
Proud owner of an RT and I’ve got no complaints. The improved interior and exterior compared to older models (‘14 and older) are noticeable and appreciated. Interior makes this car feel modern. Completely fell in love with it. Very comfortable for short or long rides, smooth steering and traction, love the roar of the 5.7 Engine. Car is bulky and can fit 3 adults in the back and has good cargo space. Debated on the Mustang GT/Camaro SS but chose the RT plus instead. Only issue is Gas because it’s a V8. Filling premium every 2 weeks. Lol **UPDATE** It’s been 3 years since I’ve owned my baby, and I don’t have any issues. No major maintanence or issues at All. I’ve stuck with my regular oil changes, tire rotation, switched tires, etc. installed the Hellcat intake, CAI and a Reso delete (flowmaster) and this car is truly a beauty. I still get compliments til this day compares to when I first bought it, and it still drives fantastic! I do not regret buying this car, I love it!!

What they use to call Pony Cars
Dodge's answer to the Camaro and Mustangs. VERY ROOMY compared with Camaros and Mustangs !!! Easy access.Peppy for a six cylinder if you want a hotter model go with the HEMI.Great looking car inside and hot, nice looking wheels.Very poor rear visibility.Better trunk size than the Camaro or Mustang.Fun car ! I would lease or buy again.Like all Chrysler products only average reliability.Lot of bang for the buck.

2015 Challenger R/T
I have been having problems with the 6 speed manual. I'm having problems shifting into second gear. I took the car back to "Anderson Dodge" in Rockford Illinois. I told them it wont shift into 2nd gear very easy. All the other gears are fine but 2nd is having difficulty's. The transmission is also winding at constant speeds. They called me and said that they had 3 people drive the car put couldn't duplicate the problem and refused to fix it. The car only has 8000 miles and should not have these kind of problems. The problem is very obvious and happens every time I drive it. I guess they just don't want to fix it. Not sure what to do about this. The car is fine except the transmission. Update, The Car now has 100000miles and the Transmission is worst than ever. 2nd gear is very difficult to shift into. It is unsafe. I have learned to compensate for the faulty 2nd gear.

Flawless over more than 3 years
This car has provided flawless service over more than 3 years. Honestly, other than rear quarter visibility, I can't find anything to fault. Even with the V6 in such a heavy car acceleration is great and it has returned over 30mpg on long trips. Can't imagine being any happier with a car. We were so happy with this car we recently traded it for an almost identically equipped 2018 Charger as we needed the convenience of a four door for dealing with an infant car seat.

Hotrod meets dad dodge
This car is phenomenal. It has just a enough juice to make you feel like your gripping the wheel of that old hotrod from yester years and just enough trunk space to fulfill that mile long grocery list. When I became a dad 9 years ago, I thought it was over. Double clutching my Chevy SS was looking like a distant memory for fear of practicality and dependability. Moral conflict was on the rise and I found myself at a crossroad in life. Do I give it all up? Do I get an SUV with longevity and 8000 air bags? Do I just go polar opposite and settle for a minivan? So many questions arose… no direction was given. I found myself stuck in a world of what ifs and what could be’s…constantly wondering if I could ever feel that sort of vehicle freedom again… that is… until I had a dream. I dreamed that I was cruising down the road in a mopar with the sunroof open and not a care in the world. The music was just right and my child was sitting comfortably in the back seat. Compromise wasn’t in the dream. Fear wasn’t in the dream. Moral conflict wasn’t in the dream… just the sound of freedom and the warm breeze of happiness flowing through my hair. Upon waking up, the first thought that came in to my mind was the Dodge Challenger. I had never owned one before, let alone thought about it. I began my research and started my journey towards making this car a reality. I visited a dealership and found the car. The only question I had was to my daughter. “Do you fit in the back?” I asked… and she responded with a resounding answer that I will never forget to this day. “Kind of.” Little did she know that’s all I needed. Just a kind of. Just a sliver of hope. Just a step in the right direction. And just like that, we were all in. I can’t say enough how much I love this car and the impact it has had on my life. Pulling up to birthday parties is not an issue anymore because I have risen above reproach and I’m not ashamed about it. I used to spend many sleepless nights wondering if the feeling would ever come back… and as a living testimony today I can assure you… it can. Everywhere I go others rev their engine at me. Whether that be in approval or wanting to race… I don’t know. I just smile and wave and continue on to Wal Mart to get the groceries, with the Sun roof open, wind in my hair, and a kind of in the back seat. This is living.

DON'T DO IT!!!!!
This car is extremely dangerous. We purchased ours brand new from the dealership in Brandon, Florida. Less than 1 month later had our first close call with an accident when the vehicle without warning looses all acceleration as we are pulling into oncoming traffic from a stop sign. The gear shift "D" flashes red and the digital readout on the dashboard instructs you to "Place vehicle in Park and shift to desired gear". This means that no matter where you are whether in the middle of an intersection or while merging into oncoming traffic, you must come to a complete stop and put the vehicle in "Park" and then shift back into "Drive". This has happened a total of 5 times with two of those being captured on video by my son who was driving the car. Dodge still has no idea what is causing the problem nor do they have any clue how to fix it. Filed a Lemon Law suit notified the NTSB as well as the Federal Trade Commission. Don't put yourself, family members or the innocent other driver at risk. This car needs to be considered for a Class Action Lawsuit against Dodge.
