Just what I needed

I just leased a 2013 S mainly for my son. He loves the car. Sunroof. Rides well. Quiet. Enough power with the manual. He's 6'4" and fits fine. Edmunds recommends considering other cars but the ones they recommend don't inspire confidence. The difference between the editors and me is that they get to give theirs back after 2 weeks. I noticed the negative user comments on the Corolla are around style and a little under powered. I noticed the negative comments on the suggested alternatives are mechanical, like transmissions grinding and steering columns shaking. I guess I'd rather have a "disconnected driving experience" than a disconnnected wallet experience.

Kids are grown up now, just needed a reliable commuter car with good gas mileage for going to work. Got the S model with appearance and sport package and it looks nice for the price. I dont like the new popular cars with huge grills, fake vents everywhere, slanted, reverse curvy style of newer cars. mine has heated mirrors, sunroof, climate control, stitching, bigger rims & tires and nav are nice in an economy car. And I got an amazing deal since the 2014's were just out. It drives very average, is weak on power, and the interior fit and finish is old school, but for the value i couldnt find better. At the time, a similar Civic EX was almost $5k more. Now at 40k miles with zero issues, just oil changes and tire rotations. Even the tires still have a good 25k of tread left. I knew exactly what I was getting when I purchased it, and has fully lived up to my expectations. Would recommend, just dont expect much refinement in this model. Update: 50k miles now, tires still good but getting noisy. No problems or issues at all. Did front brakes myself at 45k miles and still had 1/4 pad left. Only complaints are still the lack of power and interior noise on certain surfaces, which I think has progressed due to tire wear. I keep her waxed and clean and she still looks new. Headlights need constant polishing/waxing to keep from getting cloudy. Gas mileage has dropped to 27 mpg average, maybe also due to tire wear but I seemed to noticed when I put Mobil One Syn oil instead of Toyota oil last change. Back to Toyota oil. Update: 66kmiles. Got some new tires and went with wider and stiffer sport tires. Not a good match as it drives really stiff on these low profile sport tires, but handles great. Due to fatter and stickier tires, gas mileage dropped to 25 mpg. Still looks good and no reliability issues at all.

I absolutely love my Corolla! I loved the warranty options offered by ToyotaCare, and I generally couldn't be happier with my dealership and that entire process. There are very few negative things I can even say about this car. The gas mileage is great, I average 32.2 around town! When it comes down to it, he's not a luxury sedan, and there aren't umpteen million bells and whistles, but he's fun, sporty, and an all around an awesome car if you're not a nit-picker. More electronic garbage is more to possibly malfunction, I don't need it. (Even saying this, my '92 Celica's electronics all function perfectly, so I really wasn't concerned in Toyota's functionality, other brand owners, beware!)

I just bought a 2013 Corolla S loaded. I am still in the high from it. I can tell you that thing is nice! It's not a boring ride at all. I have plenty of power for traffic maneuvering. I love how it has a luxury ride feel and how spaciousness the cabin is. I think it looks very cool and hip...especially at night. Not plain like some others say. This thing is sharp on the outside also...very sporty. I really made a wise decision buying this. Not only is it cool and stylish, but it will last many years to come thanks to Toyota's quality. I wish I had a garage to preserve it.

My wife and I purchased this new 2013 model of the Corolla Type S 2013 this week for her birthday and to get rid of her old Saturn. We were not considering the Corolla because in the previous years model we did not like driving this car and felt the interior was too plain. Although there are similarities between the 2012 and 2013 model, some of the improvements were the touch screen digital display in the center of the dash. It allows me to touch navigate through my music and between my artillery devices like my iPhone. The bluetooth pairing was simple. Driving was fun, comfortable, and felt solid. The steering is loose but easy to navigate. The ride is very comfortable.
