OK. I am the biggest conservative driver that I know. I really keep the rpms down. I have been watching the computer and average miles per gallon. My general rural commute and riding around town so far I have averaged......... 37-38 mpgs!!!!!! I said "aw shucks" when I saw the new Elantra come out with it's 40 mpgs, but with the lifetime drivetrain warranty and 0% financing on my Corolla I still think I made right decision.

This has been an overall excellent vehicle. I bought the car new and have put 46,000 miles on it with not a single hiccup. I've never had any issues with rattling or road noise or even recalls and other strange mishaps as others have mentioned. Although this vehicle has been properly maintained by me and not the dealer. My original breaks even still have life left to them and tire wear is uniform. I'm 5'11" and it fits me perfectly, although my only complaint is that the seats are horribly uncomfortable and collect so much static and lint that I gave up trying to keep up. Although fabric softener helps with the static.

Best Car I Own

2010 Toyota Corolla XRS 4dr Sedan (2.4L 4cyl 5A)

When deciding which car to have secondary to a 2010 Camaro, (which isn't that fuel efficient) I always thought about getting a Corolla. After test driving an "S" model, I realized some improvements needed to be made in the power-steering sector as well as in the overall power. What the "S" model couldn't deliver, the "XRS" did. With the 2.4L engine, I could actually feel more power when accelerating which was surprising @ 158 hp, as well as the designated "European Tuned Suspension and Steering". The car is a great choice for people who want a deceivingly powerful compact sedan that is fuel efficient and delivers a great ride. The only cons are the left footrest & a mediocre interior.

Corolla will last you a long time only with basic maintenance, oil changes every 3 to 5k as preferred you can expect to replace alternator around 120k as well as cv joint axle might be need it . If you wanted to last 20 years plus start doing the following, transmission drain and refill every 30k if you don't know if its ever been done check fluid via transmission dip stick the fluid says is lifetime believe me is not, at around 100 to120k flush radiator fluid use original Toyota pink long life that fluid is good for about 150k, clean rear drum brakes with brake cleaner that's it, clean air intake throttle body and mass air flow sensor as need it, try not to drive the corolla with less than 1/4 tank fuel and use fuel cleaner very 5k to keep injectors and fuel lines clean, if you do this chances are the fuel pump will last you the life of the vehicle, fuel pump filter is in the fuel pump inside the gas tank. If you want to keep a car for 20 years or 300K plus corolla or Crown Victoria is the way to go.

Not the most exciting drive, but solid, reliable, safe car. 116,000 miles with no issues. Avg 32-33 mpg. Had to replace axle at 124,000 miles. Otherwise no issues. Replaced alternator at 160000 Sold at 165000. Needed bigger car with awd. No further issues.
