2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid LE 4dr Sedan (2.5L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)

This Camry Hybrid Le is an excellent vehicle. Average MPG the first week in FL was 45.2 mixed city and freeway mileage. As usual TOYOTA delivers what it promises unlike the others who promise MPG but alwats come up short. (KIA/Hyundai/Honda) Smooth quiet ride and excellent Michelin tires and superior build quality make this the best value available in the US currently. Thank You TOYOTA for this quality vehicle. Perfect!!!

During my test drive, we headed up a hill almost too steep for most cars. I could not tell we were inclined at all with no reduction in acceleration or increase in gas. I am constantly amased at the gas mileage and performance. I did need to learn more about this car than the 2010 Camry Hybrid. The engine programming is different. The dead stop take off is different - don't floor it. Air conditioning is special with no tie-in to the engine, no engine response to engaging the air. The most enjoyable feature is the transmission braking. In stop and go driving, my foot hardly ever leaves the accelerator, let up and it slows down. No more use of gas sitting in stopped traffic. Special purpose or benefit: I use the battery for 12 volts while camping. With the car close by, but out of monoxide poisoning range, I run the hybrid system to provide power for days on less than a gallon gas. I don't expect others to camp with the car, but it does some things others just can't. While camping, I took the car up a very pot-holed, wash-boarded road in gravel raising 5,500 feet in 10 miles. When I got to the top I found two 80 year old ladies in an identical car. They beat me to the bottom of the mountain. Still no rattles. ------------- 2016 update: no changes - note mismarked LE - it is the XLE Hybrid, lots more miles on the car, now at 72,000, but no new issues. I replaced the tires at 65,000 with the same style Michelin high speed tires. No failures or new problems. I found I know lots more about the car than the dealerships, so I don't let them touch it. No need to prove this, just ask a simple question or two about the Camry Hybrid - they don't know. Just ask how they can run with no fan belts. Still I get the mileage I want at or around 40 MPG. Like many Hybrid owners, the mileage can be a bit of a game, if not too many people are driving around me. Some information on mileage: hills are a plus for this hybrid, keep tires a couple pounds higher, rain spoils mileage, the electric drive solo shuts down at 40 miles per hour, but can take over at any speed on the 2012 version. I have seen electric drive even at 70 mph, when the traction battery is at 100%. One item unexpected, I have been hit with a powerful projectile (rock) at high speed, enough to almost cause concushion. The windshield is unmarked. Apparently it is extra thick to add noise reduction - this is the XLE quiet windshield. -------------- 2017 update Traded in the Camry HB XLE for an Avalon Hybrid Limited. I wish I could have waited for someone to buy it as it was a creme puff. Probably the best car I will ever had! BUT the Avalon has way more goodies, radar, auto wipers, auto headlights with special light control, two electric seats with heat, same power - wow.

I’m going on 1000mi and so far fantastic car. First looked at the L4 but the hybrid got my attention. I was never too interested in hybrids, either too small or not enough mileage difference between the regular gas versions, but that's all changed on the Camry. It has great power and incredible gas mileage for a mid size sedan. Other than the spaceship sound (kind of cool) when you brake (regenerative power transfer) you can hardly tell it’s a hybrid. Wow! The looks have been sharpened and the interior is very comfortable for me. Traded my reliable 2005 Camry LE and am very pleased with the new Camry and first hybrid for me. I'm getting low to mid 40mph consistently with about 80% rural highway and 20% 25-35mph rural roads near home and work.

THIS 2012 CAMRY is amazing, got a xle fully equipped in white beige interior. the ride is excellent, the inside space is very good, the mileage ,ist fill 40.4 mpg 2nd 38.6 mpg 3rd.42.4 mpg.. city 60%40% hwy.amazing.it has a spare tire, the car can move0-60 in 7.2 sec.. better than a four cyl, almost as good as a six cyl.no hessitation like the sonota hybrid.bigger trunk,.bigger than ther fusion, the sun roof on the fusion hits my head. negatives- the car is going back to repair the stching on the leather which is crimped &looks cheap, electronic steering to loose. also cheap plastic inside otherwise a great car.consumers rated it 93 thats the highest no right now.

An odd turn of events found me picking up my sons new TCH and delivering it to him in Miami Fl. I left OKC and drove out of Oklahom across Arkansas Clipped the corner of Tennessee and drove the whole North side of Mississippi. Finally after 651.2 miles I stopped in Alabama and filled up. It took 16.005 gallons which yielded a MPG of 40.6+ MPG. aT 1053 MILES i filled it again and still had 40.6+ mpg for the trip. All of this was at approx 72MPH. Once I entered Florida the traffic dictated that I should drive 75 or 75+ so I did. That run got 37.5 or so. Yes we did get 55 and 57 on a couple of controlled runs at low speed but as far as the real world of interstate driving is concerned 40 is OK.
