Used 1997 Toyota Avalon Consumer Reviews
Nice car spoiled by junk suspension
Nice, but not exciting, car with cheap clunky suspension. I didn't expect sporting suspension, but rather, a nice quiet ride. But every bump brings a symphony of clunks and rattles from the front and rear suspension. Unacceptable in a car in this class (Hyundai Sonata does a better job). Great mileage with high test in the tank (30mpg @ 75-80 on the Mass Pike). Reasonable performance. The 3 disk CD changer gets "tired" after several hours of play. Looks like most of the other homely, expensive Japanese sedans (except for Nissan now). Should have kept looking for a Maxima SE! You should too!
After two years with Avalon
I bought my 97 Avalon XL (bench front seat) two years ago and I really enjoying this car. Previously I owned Nissan Maxima, Lincoln Mark VII, BMW 528 and Lincoln Towncar but none of these cars made to 80000 miles without ANY problems. What I like the most about Avalon its RELAIBLE, it's big, quiet and comfortable. The only thing I dont like in this car is design of radio and CD changer (Not dashboard). I would recommend this car to anybody who is looking for passenger car.

This car might not be the most exciting car I've owned, but it has been the most reliable and is still complelely reliable after 180000 miles and 8 years!
