Urban Living with a RidgeLine

SB Ridge, 06/20/2007
2006 Honda Ridgeline RT 4dr Crew Cab 4WD SB (3.5L 6cyl 5A)

I own a 2006 RT, I went with the basics as XM, leather and Nav have no place with me. So far I have really enjoyed my truck, it has done all that I asked with out complaint. I have moved heavy objects like wood flooring, bulky objects like shrubs and basic stuff like family vacations. My Ridgeline as proven itself worthy of Vermont winters and the AWD has been up to any urban task I have put before it. My Ridgeline is an urban rig, I do not tow at this moment and I am not an off road driver. My only addition to my Ridgeline was a BakFlip cover to add additional storage options and keep the winter snow out of the bed. This is a truck for people who are tired of the SUV but don't ne

Best everyday truck ever

This truck does exactly what I need - it carries in the bed stuff I would never want inside a car or SUV but doesn't suffer all the negatives a regular truck would (bad gas mileage, bad ride, etc.) It has plenty of power for everyday driving, as long as you're not trying to race. As for the complaints about gas mileage, if you drive the way you should to conserve gas, you'll get what I get, which is 19-20 mpg every tank, and that is using the AC at all times, driving a mix of highway and surface roads. No one complains about the V6 4x4 Crew Cab Nissan Frontier getting 17 mpg, so why the complaints here?

31,000 and amazed at the quality

The navigation system is cool. The trim is polarizing, just like the body. Either you like it or not. But having never been a Honda owner before, I cannot believe that for a first try, Honda could have almost nailed it. At every turn, I'm impressed. Driving impressions are superior, thoughtful storage and utility abound. The technology is Acura quality, and the safety is second to none. No, it won't haul a small country, but most people don't. When used for what most people use it for, it has enough command of the road or the trails to feel convicted about the build, the utility, and the quality to get you there and back, whether it's work, camping, or snowboarding...it can do it very well

I've owned them all, and if you are the average consumer with the need for light duty towing and room for five men, this is the truck for you. Not too big, not too small.

Great truck, could use more power

Used as a commuter and family trips. Occasional off road use at the beach or back roads. Great in the sand. Ride is excellent. Power is lacking - slightest hills on the highway cause downshift. No maintenance issues after 36,000 miles. Very comfortable for 4 adults. A little tight for 5 or with a baby seat installed and 4 adults. In bed trunk is awesome, dual action tailgate is very convenient.

What you see is what you get and that is a good thing. Coolest feature is the secret in-bed trunk.

2006 Ridgeline RTL

I liked many of the things about my new Ridgeline RTL - the build, the looks, the handling,.... I have hope that the Ridgeline engine will last for many years. In hindsight, I wish that I had chosen a Toyota Tundra or Tacoma instead. After only 1000 miles, my battery went dead many times and had to be replaced. Gas mileage is poor for a V-6 and acceleration on hills is noticeably lacking. I get passed by pick-up trucks with V-8's all the time. The stereo system needs a lot of improvement as well. It could use a built-in equalizer. Overall, the Ridgeline is a nice, comfortable truck in many respects but it is not worth the high price in my opinion; at least not yet!

Broken struts, damaged transmission

Only 1500 miles on this "truck" and I've already broken the front struts and damaged the transmission by taking it on a hunting trip. The roads weren't terrible -- just rutted mountain logging roads -- but the Ridgeline is now in the shop for an extended stay. I learned one thing: it's not a real truck. Don't believe the ads....

If you are considering using the Ridgeline off road or where there may be rodents, be advised that they have easy access to the interior of the vehicle. Funny that anyone would use a 4 wheel drive outside of the city. Honda of America does not consider this a problem. If you plan to use the Ridgeline in an area with Hanta Virus carrying mice, bring along a cat. Although Honda corporation is dodging this issue, our dealer is stepping up and trying to solve what should be a detail of basic design. We are very pleased with them. Honda Corporate's position is that any damage to the truck or your health from rodent infestation is not their responsibility. Consider this carefully.

I average 15mpg with my 2006 Ridgeline. The service writer told me the best to expect is 18mpg. Low power and poor mpg. Cramped interior. I bought because of the truck of the year hype.

I enjoy the truck a lot. It is loaded and rides great. I don't know I am crusing at 65 MPH on the highway. My only mistake, I wish I got the Navigation system, but couldn't swing the extra cost. For the first truck out - Overall, I'd give it a 9 - then again - you'd prob like it more - I am picky - LOL. You got to get one - it is fun truck and rides and handles great. I own my truck for 6 months and have 11,000 miles on it with NO problems.

Ok, let's face it. I ain't no mechanic. I'll do my own routine maintainance, but all the build stuff and tech specs don't get my dander up. I know what I like. We also have a Goldwing, so going in, we were partial to Hondas in the first place. If this turck is 1/2 as dependable as our 'Wing, I'm a happy camper. The lines, and the front end styling really are "Da Bomb"! This little truck does it all, or at least all I need it to. I am a large frame guy, and I sit in the cockpit very comfortably. All those airbags! Idiot has the nerve to hit me, at least be able to walk away. Power? Yup. Got enough to get out of it's own way. Braking? Yup. Stops on a dime, and gives you 9 cents change.

1. IT CAN'T TOW AT ALL no more then maybe 6000 lbs. if you're lucky which i was not. They could learn a lot form Ford about trucks! 2. It has some room but the avalanche is much better! 3. This truck needs better MPG It has about as much as the american trucks but it is sissy truck! So It could have more!
