After months of research we decided to forego the 2018's tempting price discounts and picked up a 2019 EXL instead. Looked around until we found a dealer willing to deal and got the price we wanted. This is our third Pilot, we had a 2008 EXL which was traded after a wreck, bought a 2012 EXL to replace it and now the 2019 EXL. The 2019 is a nice car but it lacks the solid feel of the old 2008. The 2019 rides very quiet on good pavement, course pavement makes some body parts resonate, producing very annoying sounds, the rear suspension is another negative, small road imperfections, cracks and transitions produce a loud thump (feels like the compliance bushings are either too hard or not thick enough) which reverberates over the cabin. The front suspension works really well. Wind noise is low compared to previous models and other brands we considered. The interior is very spacious and is made with good quality materials. Fit and finish inside and out is no different than the Audi Q7 we tested (which was twice the price), with the Q7 having more felt in the cargo area and more sound insulation and other high end features (which we could have had if we had chosen the Elite model). The new Pilot is extremely efficient, best MPG was 31 (verified, the computer is only off by half a MPG), worse MPG has been 24. Lastly, we decided to purchase the Pilot because the first two that we owned were extremely reliable (zero shop visits), efficient and comfortable; the price was on target and the dealership employees are very competent and customer oriented. Overall the Honda offers a better balance of value, efficiency and reliability over the other brands we tested. We have been driving the 2019 Pilot now for slightly over a year. So far zero problems. Ride has improved a bit, still quiet and very comfortable inside. This past summer with all the grand kids visiting we could carry them around and their huge amount of paraphernalia quite easily, plenty of USBs too !!! Highway fuel economy (at 70 to 75 MPH) is consistently at 29 to 31 MPG, much better then the previous Pilots we have owned. Honda has made it really easy to make system updates, you can go by the dealership anytime (Sundays is easy) get next to the building in rage of their WIFI and the updates quickly fly in no problem, or you can do it over the air at home if you like (if your own WIFI) is strong enough. We enjoy using the new version of Android auto, it has many more apps and options and especially the navigation app with step by step, turn by turn and voice input features; its easy, accurate and the screen is vivid. We enjoy our Pilot and its dependability and its comfort and on and on....

We traded in a 2007 Odyssey with over 200,000 miles for a 2019 Pilot EX-L. We love the drive, the interior space, the tech but we're very disappointed by the sloppy installation of the rear cargo door. Similar to what two other reviewers experienced the spacing between the cargo door and the bumper varies by 1/4" going from one side to the other and therefore sticks out a bit. Where is Honda's quality control? 12/4/2021 Update Honda is unwilling to correct the misaligned rear cargo door. Having been a loyal customer for years I would hesitate buying another Honda in the future.

We got a brand new 2019 Honda EX-L and took possession from the dealership in Round Rock, Texas in the evening when already night started coming down. Went home and Park car in garage. a few days later back from vacation, we noticed that cargo door was not aligned and rear bumper spacing with cargo door was way off. Rear bumper on the left side there’s more than a 1/4” more spacing than at the right side and cargo door corner on the right side is protruding at least 1/4”. Really ugly to see. We went back to dealer and they send us to service department. Service department supervisor told us that in order to fix that, they will have to take all interior out and there is no guarantee that they will be able to fix it. We went back to dealer and even though sale manager told us he will exchange our car, his boss told us no way. We did not have received car registration yet. That boss told us there’s nothing that can be done because all car a made now with robots and all other car are same. So, sad side of the story is we paid a little over 36k for a car which has defect. We have to drive a car which we don’t like and even hate it now. Very sad, Honda. I have a 2013 Honda Pilot touring and it’s still perfect. Honda is really loosing it’s reputation and it look like third world car manufacturer. So buyers be aware. I don’t think I will buy again car from Honda, not only that but I will try to get rid off this one as soon as I can and shop for something else. Very disappointed!!!

I wish there was an option for 4.5 stars because thats what i would give this pilot. We're at 40k miles now the service we've done is put on new tires, alignment, trans fluid, oil, and cabin and engine filter. Ive heard people have had issues with the infotainment, and knock on wood, we have had no such issues. Apple carplay works great everything loads and works the way its supposed to. The leather is pretty comfy and most of the surfaces you touch in the pilot are soft touch instead of hard plastics or cloth. We have gone on a lot of road trips with this girl and we typically average 25/26 mpg when we do. 23/ 24 during normal driving. We love how this suv drives and how relatively quiet it is. The third row is pretty small but it fits our 7 year old just fine. Overall the Honda Pilot seems problem free so far (small saple size i know) and excellent to haul the family around on road trips, to school, grocery store etc. I would highly recommend to anyone with kids or someone who needs the large trunk space when 3rd row is folded down. Btw the reversible and lowerable trunk tray that comes standard where one side is plastic and other side is carpet is so smart. Solid SUV.

Transmission makes horrible noises when shifting from park etc. it whines going down the road. The “ safety stuff” really is scary. It will sense an on coming car on a two lane road, as a danger and it slams on breaks for your safety and sharply snatches the wheel out of your hands to the right...and off the road you go. The AC is waxing and waning. Rides rough. My history 1976 Honda CVCC, 1982 2d accord, 1991 CRX Si, 1998 Prelude, 2006 civic Si, 2014 civic Si, multiple accords in between as family cars. 2012 Odessy, and this pilot is by far the worst.
