Nana's New Ride

2021 Honda Odyssey Elite 4dr Minivan (3.5L 6cyl 10A)

Bought a 2021 Honda Elite about 3 months ago. No complaints. Traded in my 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback, which I loved, to make highway trips to see the grand kids safer and more comfortable. The ride is, of course, better, but the decrease in road noise is wonderful. I like the configuration options for the seats. Being in a higher profile vehicle allows me to see and be seen by the myriad of trucks sharing the road. It's easy for our dog to enter and exit. I'll update if anything develops to change my opinion, but good so far.

It’s my 4th Odyssey over the past 15 years. It’s quieter and smoother to drive than the previous models. I do wish it still had a CD player and the right turn side camera.

Great improvements for 2021/22, but a stupid flaw

We love our 2022 Odyssey EX-L. Lots of minor, but thoughtful tweaks to the interior, good decisions on design of the drive train. EXCEPT for one flaw: there is no way to get the electrical transmission shifter into neutral if the engine won’t start! This means if your battery is dead, or anything else prevents the car from starting, you are stuck in PARK and can’t push the car into a garage or off the road. Stupid design oversight! We had this happen in -8F, when the entire undercarriage was covered with a thick (4”) coating of ice, which prevented anything in the engine compartment from moving.

Had my 21 for about a year. At 8 months my car was knocking. They greased the steering so they say. 1 month later knocking again. Replaced right strut after 24 hours in the shop. 1 month later left side knocking. Took in again and said left side needs replacing. Had to wait 7 Weeks. The NEXT day knocking again left and right side. DONT WORRY! HONDA is aware of it. They keep INSISTING it's safe to drive my 5 yr old around in it. So frustrating!!! Any advice??

First every van

2021 Honda Odyssey Touring 4dr Minivan (3.5L 6cyl 10A)

we just bought our first ever mini van and with two kids an no debt we were very excited about this purchase. so we bought the car in February during a snow storm and we will say the car does very well in snow. so the first thing we noticed was there was rust in the back seat the middle seats that slide back an fourth, than the car started to creak, it reminded of us a cruise ship on its first voyage, than the breaks squeak. we are like oh my the creaking happens when you turn when you go to accelerate or slow down. and it sounds like sometimes it sounds like the wheels are just going to fall off or something is going to break. Also the arm rest for the passenger side goes all the way down to the seat so its like who has their arm all the way down there. so we took it to the dealer. I am a mom of two kids one is 4 one is 1. the first day it was to rainy for them to look or hear the noise. we took the car on a road trip an came back the next week. well once again they had me wait 4 plus hours or longer i cant remember i was trying to entertain two kids in a dealership. they couldn't figure out the noise and they had no loaners. so i went back and they told me to come back another day great thats fine we can do that. this is our only car and my husbands in the military and needs the car most of the week. so i take it down there again sit from 9 til about 2pm in the afternoon and than a loaner car shows up an i didnt care if it was small i wanted to leave. they gave us a honda accord. so they keep the car over a week they didnt hear the noise, then about a few days in to the second week they heard the noise. they dont know where its coming from or how to fix it. but they marked on our file so in case there is a recall later down the road we will hear about it and they will fix it. but other than that we love the car its been great we just turn up the radio so we dont have to hear the creak.
