This monster weighs in at nearly five tons, yet it runs from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds in our testing. It also bettered its EPA range estimate, going 325 miles on a charge in the Edmunds EV Range Test. That it's expensive won't surprise you. That it's still a viable daily driver might.

The Rivian R1S is a smaller and more luxurious electric SUV that offers similar performance and a longer range. Comparing apples to apples, it's also slightly more expensive than the Hummer EV SUV. You should consider the Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology, an all-electric SUV that ostensibly has military roots and is highly capable at off-roading like the Hummer. Otherwise, you could just return to reality and admit what you really need is a practical, affordable Hyundai Ioniq 9.

Among the updates to the Hummer EV SUV for 2026 are two standouts: King Crab mode and a Carbon Fiber Edition package. King Crab mode — which has to be the best-named feature in the history of features — enhances the SUV's maneuverability by enabling the rear wheels to steer faster than the fronts, improving turning sharpness and quickness. It will be available as an over-the-air update for all 2022 through 2024 Hummer SUVs. The Carbon Fiber Edition package adds 22-inch carbon-fiber wheels as well as off-road hardware like locking front and rear diffs, skidplates and underbody cameras, which it shares with the Extreme Off-Road package.
