Overview
How do you one-up your neighbor who just parked an EQS SUV in their driveway? Get the one with the Maybach logo on the hood. The 2025 Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV is the more opulent and ostentatious version of Mercedes' flagship all-electric sport-ute. For just about $50,000 more than the next highest trim in the lineup, the EQS 580, you get an even more impressive interior with a roomy two-seat second row (a middle seat is optional), standard rear entertainment screens, and plenty of high-quality leather, wood and metal trim used throughout. Being a Maybach, the EQS 680 also delivers a surplus of power from its dual electric motors.

Am I Ready for an EV?
EV ownership works best if you can charge at home (240V outlet) This typically means a 240V home installation, or other places your car is parked for several hours each day. Don't expect a regular household outlet (120V) to suffice.
Adding a home charging system is estimated to cost $1,616 in This is an estimate for your area. Using your address and the answers you provide, Treehouse can provide a more accurate price.

The 2025 EQS 680's 118-kWh battery pack gives it an EPA-estimated range of 302 miles, an improvement over last year's estimated range of 280 miles. However, the revised estimates for 2025 widen the range gap between the Maybach and the more pedestrian EQS 580 SUV, which is now rated at 317 miles. But you shouldn't worry too much about getting range anxiety. In our Edmunds EV Range Test, a Maybach EQS 680 SUV covered 368 miles on one charge. When it's time to juice up the extra-posh EV's battery, the Maybach is capable of 200-kW DC fast charging, which can restore most of its range in roughly half an hour.
Competitors to consider
The Maybach badge and accompanying high price tag elevate this flagship to the ultra-luxe category, which includes the likes of the Bentley Bentayga, Aston Martin DBX and Lamborghini Urus. However, none of those are dedicated EVs. If it's a battery-only experience you're after and you can live without the headrest pillows and built-in Champagne cooler, you might also consider the BMW iX, Audi Q8 E-tron, Rivian R1S, upcoming Lucid Gravity and of course the standard Mercedes EQS SUV.

The 2025 Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV currently has no direct rival. If you want ultimate luxury, the commanding seating position and innate utility of an SUV, and the supreme quiet of an electric drivetrain, this is your only choice. The execution isn't flawless, but the EQS 680 delivers on the levels of excess the Maybach badge promises. You get a stunningly luxurious cabin paired with an exceptional EV driving experience.
How does the Maybach EQS SUV drive? At our test track, the Maybach EQS SUV put down some decent numbers considering its massive size and weight. We achieved 60 miles per hour in 4.1 seconds. That's slower than many other luxury EVs we've tested, but the Maybach's 649 horsepower is plenty to get you up and moving when you need it.
As expected, the around-town driving experience is sublime in this vehicle. Four-wheel steering helps the Maybach feel less cumbersome at low speeds and reduces the turning circle by quite a bit. There is effortless power with almost no noise coming from the outside world — just silent propulsion while you are cruising along inside one of the most comfortable interiors ever produced.
Comfort
9.5/10
How comfortable is the Maybach EQS SUV? The Maybach EQS SUV is supremely comfortable. It takes full advantage of near-silent EV propulsion and provides its occupants with a serene driving environment. This comes with the Maybach-specific driving mode, which optimizes comfort for backseat passengers and keeps things as smooth as can be.
Backseat passengers have an experience unlike anything else on the road. Independent climate controls for everyone, massaging seats that recline with a footrest — the list goes on and on. The cherry on top is some of the best noise control of any cabin in a car today.
Interior
9/10
How’s the interior? The Maybach EQS SUV interior is sensory overload in the best way possible. The back seat especially is a sight to take in with every comfort feature imaginable. Most functions in the car are controlled through screens, and while the number of commands is overwhelming, everything is pretty easy to figure out after a few tries. Rear passengers are treated to huge space, including automatic leg rests. On the passenger side, you can recline the seat to stretch almost completely out.
Up front, the driving position provides a great view ahead, with lots of adjustability for the seat and the wheel. Visibility is good in all directions with large windows all around. There are running boards to help you get into the SUV, though for taller people it's easier just to step over them.

2025 Mercedes-Benz Maybach EQS SUV pricing in Columbus, OH
How’s the tech? All Mercedes EQS SUVs come standard with the dash-spanning Hyperscreen. The Hyperscreen is a lot to take in, and for some it might feel like too much. In either case, Mercedes' MBUX infotainment system is also one of the best for voice controls and personalization capabilities. There are a lot of menus and settings, but most buyers should be able to learn the system without much trouble. The Burmester 4D sound system with Dolby Atmos is phenomenal.
As we've come to expect from Mercedes, the EQS SUV's advanced driver aids are excellent. The adaptive cruise control and lane centering systems operate smoothly and can be used in almost every situation. We experienced no false alarms in our testing.
Storage
7.5/10
How’s the storage? The Maybach EQS SUV is a bit compromised when it comes to storage space in the trunk. Because the rear seats are pushed back to offer more legroom, the cargo area is only 15.5 cubic feet. The EQS 450+ SUV offers significantly more, at 22 cubic feet, and the Maybach GLS SUV offers a bit more at 18.4 cubes. That said, there is small-item storage all over the Maybach EQS SUV, including between the two rear seats with the extra center console.
There are child safety seat anchor points in the second row and there's so much room that a rear-facing seat won't bother anyone, but we don't really see Maybach owners having child seats buckled in the exec-status second row.

Range and Efficiency
8.5/10
How are the range and efficiency? [Editor's note: The following testing is based on a 2024 model. The EPA range estimate for 2025 has been raised to 302 miles but our general observations still apply.] The Maybach EQS 680 SUV we tested had an EPA-estimated range of 280 miles. In our Edmunds EV Range Test we observed 368 miles, which is a massive overperformance. It did 31% better than the EPA figure and was much more efficient in the process than expected. The Maybach used 36.8 kilowatts of energy to travel 100 miles, about 16% better than advertised (EPA estimate of 44 kWh/100 miles).
For road trips, the Maybach has a DC fast-charging capability of up to 200 kilowatts according to Mercedes. We recorded a peak power of 211 kW, maintaining an impressive average power of 175 kW over the duration of charge from 10% to 80%. This, combined with the EQS SUV's efficient energy use, means it is one of the best luxury SUVs for quickly charging and gaining range for long trips.
Value
8/10
Is the Maybach EQS SUV a good value? With an as-tested price of nearly $200,000, the Maybach EQS SUV is one of the most expensive EVs on sale today. That said, it's actually quite the bargain compared to Rolls-Royce's and Bentley's options. It's also true that this is the only game in town for an ultra-luxury electric SUV. As you'd expect from a Maybach, the build quality and interior fit and finish are among the best of any car on sale today.
Mercedes offers the same warranty as it does with other EQS SUV models. That's four years/ 50,000 miles of coverage and a 10-year battery warranty.
Wildcard
8/10
The Maybach EQS SUV is one of the most comfortable ways to get from point A to B on four wheels. Whether you're driving it every day or being shuttled around and using the back seat, the Maybach EQS is wonderful through and through. It lacks the outright personality of the gas-powered Maybach options, but the EQS SUV still delivers on everything you'd expect from the brand.
Which Maybach EQS SUV does Edmunds recommend?
With only one trim level offered, picking your electric Maybach SUV is an easy task. Deciding which lavish optional extras you want for your EQS 680 SUV, however, might take a bit more time. We'd opt for the Exclusive Nappa package for its even richer-feeling leather upholstery, and while we're throwing around fat stacks, we might as well check the box for the rear center console refrigerator and Champagne flute holders.
