Used 1999 Ford F-150 Extended Cab Consumer Reviews
Surprises after 50.000 miles
Loved truck until recent maintenance. Anyone else believe that new rotors (deep rust pits), new headgasket and new power steering pump should ALL be required after only 4 years and 50,000 very easy (no towing, off-road etc.) miles? Wonderful vehicle turned into major disappointment.
Lariat 101
I became a Ford owner in 1992 and never looked back. I use my Lariat to pull a fifth wheel during vacation and put over 6000 miles in 4 to 5 weeks. Not a hitch. I also use it to transport my snowmachine and quad, again no problems. The only negative thing I can say about my truck is that the back springs are not as stiff as I would like. Anyway, I like my truck and intend to buy another within the next year or so.
Transmmission Issues
I've had the truck for about 4 years. I bought the truck from my dad he bought it brand new in 99 and has always kept up with the maintenence. The truck never felt like it was shifting right. The first trans. went out at about 77k miles it has 177k know and the second trans. has gone out it was also a ford trans. installed @ a ford dealer. The truck was mainly driven by my wife and she has a light foot and is very easy on cars. The engine sounds great and other than minor things such as sensors and plugs its done a great job staying together. This will be the third transmission on this truck but now I went with a transmission expert hopefully this is the last transmission for this truck.
An American Icon
I have a 1999 Ford F-150 XL 4x2 X-Cab, it is a great truck. I would drive it anywhere! It has served me well! When it comes time to trade I will definiately buy another one. There is no other truck like it out there.
Great Truck
Have had the truck for 4 years and it runs great. Had only 1 unscheduled maintenance to fix a turn signal switch under warrenty, and that's it. Great truck.
