Used 2001 Ford Explorer Consumer Reviews
Still Excellent
I still love it even though it's 6 years old, and even though I now make more of a Lexus salary than Ford. Very reliable. In those 6 years it's been into the shop exactly once for new brake pads. Great for hauling and towing. I easily haul a 4,500 lb. boat, plus wife and two kids and associated stuff. Great fuel economy. Much better than the newer design.
I Love My Blue Baby
I bought my Explorer new in 2001 -- started as a lease and I decided to keep. After 208000 miles I've never had any major problems, until now. Have to get the crankshaft pulley replaced. I plan to keep this car FOREVER. I love my Explorer.

I LOVE IT!
I'm 16 years old and this is my first car. I love it because it can fit all my friends and it's not as wide as an Expedition. I would recommend this for all ages.
The First Car I Bought
I bought this car as soon as I got out of high school and I loved every minute of owning it. The car is very fun to drive and is designed very nicely. It does get thirsty at the puump, though.
165,000 and running good.
We bought our this Exploder new and at 165,000 miles replaced the ball joints today. I replaced the thermostat at around 60,000, the brake pads around 110,000 and battery around 120,000. It has proven to be a very dependable vehicle. I have never seen it get less that 20 MPG and have seen it get as much as 29 MPG highway. I give some credit to Militec-1, as I have used it in all my vehicles since being introduced to it in 1988.
