Still Loving it after 25k
Bought my 2013 Edge Ltd in June of 2012. Just bumped over 25k. I've read all the worst reviews to see if anything sounds familiar. Thankfully no. Love my Edge. I don't disbelieve that people have bad experiences, after all humans put these cars together (for the most part). My experience is opposite. No issues with my Mid Life Crisis on Wheels. I found fault w/ software compatibility (WMA files) but no longer an issue. The MPG is off; I'm not an average driver. I love power and agility in this car. Sync & MyFord Touch work great, now that I understand it. Read the manual when all else failed. My recommendation is a "Buy". Read all Bad and Good reviews too.

I Purchased a limited 2013 Used in the fall 2017. Traded in a vehicle and deposited $1000 down. On the lot car was dead. Dealer switched the battery. Very soon after it died in my driveway. Back to dealer it went. After it was repaired, the Sync system failed often. I called it in. The salesperson even sat in car and blamed me and my phone. More electrical issues followed. Dealer replaced APIM. Lights seemed to improve. Sync still messed up calls. Acceleration stopped as I was merging in to lanes on a highway. Car began slowing / running in neutral. I pumped gas pedal in a panic. A semi was closing in quickly and the lane to the right had construction occurring . My choice was panic and stay the course or hit construction workers and equipment. I stayed the course. The car suddenly started, I continued to floor the pedal and attempt to avoid being hit. It worked. My heart raced to the point I shook. Once far from the incident I called home via sync. I called the dealer later. Local drives sometimes felt as though there were lapses in acceleration or almost stalling while in motion but it was so brief I was not sure if battery or something else failed( turns out a recall for this was issued in 2014). I researched a little and saw some recalls for similar issues. I decided to trust the dealer to finish looking up my specific vehicle. Dealer took vehicle in, said no recalls exist( which is different than “open recalls” as open implies never worked on, the other would help to assess common occurrence). Dealer rep returned to me and mechanic then said,” I’ll try something else”. He returned. No specifics as to what “ something else” was. I drove car home. Vista roof had frequent issues. Had to tarp the vehicle at night. Dealer never repaired sufficiently. A Mechanic at dealership said repair is so pricey most people trade vehicle in. Hatch seals or door latch caused door ajar lights on and battery issues. Mechanic wrote work summary blaming me because I hesitantly used a bike rack to bring a bike to the shop to ride home. The repair was called in before a rack was placed on car. Ride was smooth. Amenities were nice. Later on I tried to call my family via sync. My car interpreted that as the not so similar name of the sales mgr of the dealership. He called me back. Stated, “ we need to get you out of that car.”. I worked hard to find and print over 100 pages of vehicles I’d consider as he said he may do a “buy back” and “ don’t worry, I’ll take care of it” . At next sale he snuck $2300 in to my next loan. This car cost me a vehicle, $3300, stress, and almost my life or any passenger’s safety. It is a very maintenance needy vehicle with possible recalls for brakes/ acceleration/ door latches. Again, beautifully smooth ride but every ride left me anxiety riddled. Dealer is no better. Next Edge is slightly better, same year, different model fewer mechanical issues ( but more than any I have owned in last 25+ years)…but many of the same recalls not repaired correctly or never addressed. Stay away or take out an extra line of credit for frequent service.

2013 Sel Loaded awd
Stylish wrap-a-round interior makes you feel secure. Great pick up speed 3.5 liter v6 is better than most SUV's we tried. We love the blindspot mirrors.Pan. Vista Sunroof is awesome-a must. Leather seats are comfortable all around. Bun warmers run a little hot but adjustaded down great! No problems with nav. or My Ford touch. Updated My Ford touch easily. We got Tuxedo Black. It has beautiful multi-colored metallic paint. Front end commands respect. 20 inch chrome rims look classy! Awd handles well. Truck glides down freeway. We live in Ohio so awd is smart. We like the SEL better than the Limited or Sport. Millage ok we got big engine.no eco boost. We love it!
I Love This Car
I now have 1000 miles on my new Edge and I LOVE IT. One adjective that comes to mind is "Refined". You get the feeling that a lot of attention has been paid to the design and ergonomics. It's very stylish and comfortable. On a recent trip I averaged 25 mpg (V6). The tire pressure monitoring system warned me of low pressure; I had picked up a nail somewhere that I would not have noticed until the tire went flat. The performance is great and really kicks in when passing. (BTW, I don't think you need AWD; added cost, added complexity, reduced gas mileage. I live in Montana and believe that the traction of front wheel drive will be very adequate.)
Great SUV
I've had my 2013 Ford Edge since June 2013. I've traveled from Ohio to South Carolina 4 times to see my granddaughter, daughter and son in law. I couldn't be happier with the comfortable ride. The My Touch does take a little bit of time to get use to, but I have not had any problems. I would recommend going to the Ford website and watch the tutorials, There are also nice YouTube videos. I highly recommend this vehicle.
