Ford does not own Mazda and never has. They had a 33% interest at one point, but that ended over 3 years ago. The CX-9 is one of the highest rated 7-passenger vehicles on the road. Is rated higher than a Pilot by Consumer Reports and consistantly scores well, if not better than the latest 7-passenger vehicles from Ford, GM, Dodge and Honda. IMHO the Mazda is a better vehicle and has more/better features than the Honda. Long Term reliability always comes down the the individual vehicle but I think the Honda has the edge on reliability. I purchased a 2009 Mazda Trouring. My second choice was the Honda Pilot EX-L. I chose the better vehicle (handling, ride, braking, looks etc.)

Mellow, in same boat as you. Honda Pilots are harder to find. They hold their value big time. You'll have warranty on the Pilot and if you're keeping long term, I'd go that way. Although the Mazda has only 40K, it's value will drop more than the Honda. MHO, go with the Honda (swiss watch) you won't be sorry. Regards

Just FYI, Mazda will have a fix for this "Feature" available to all CX-9 users in January. I have been dealing with this exact issue and my Dealer was nice enough to get Mazda Engineering involved. Does not matter if it is left or right, wet or dry, up or down but it is in the same curves most of the time (~60%). Just Bought a 2009 GT AWD in San Jose CA
We bought a 2009 CX9 Gt AWD (Black cherry/Sand) in San Jose CA (Oak Tree Mazda) with GT Assist Package, Bose/Sunroof and Roof rack for $32,500 + TTL. MSRP was over $41K. Got a quote of $33.5K then got an additional 1K off for Mazda Loyalty. I think this was a pretty good deal.

Just bought CX-9 Touring, NJ
After reading this forum I decided to buy 2009 Touring CX-9 in pearl white(no options). The car was $27,500 and the total OTD was $30,348.50. The deal was closed at Open Road Mazda, East Brunswick, NJ. I just picked it up. I am pleased with the dealership and with the new car.

Safety Warning Screen on Nav System
Does anyone know how to bypass the Safety Warning Screen on the 2009 Mazda CX9 Navigation Screen??? You know the screen the comes up just after you start the vehilce where you have to press the "AGREE" button before the mapping will show up. I want to bypass that screen so the map shows up instead of that stupid warning screen...is it possible to do?

But the MazdaUSA sight does not lie! Go the the MazdaUSA site and build yourself a 2009, CX-9 AWD GT. The Homelink Mirror with Compass shows up on the right. THAT is how Mazda built and sells the car. Unless your dealer monkeyd with the sticker, you got shafted.

I was told July incentives expire today (Aug 3rd). I was quoted 28600 for Touring AWD w/ Bose Moon. That includes 1K Mazda owner plus 4K incentive that seems pretty uniform across the board. I bought a 2009 CX-9 Sport AWD w/ Power & Heated Seat option for $25,000. This price included the $4000 dealer marketing cash and $1,000 owner loyalty cash. I thought the final price was pretty good and had a couple of other Mazda dealers told me I was lying about the price when I tried to play them against each other.

A quick price calc would be invoice (excluding destination) less holdback (probably $530 or so, basically MSRP incl destination x 1.75%) less the $4k fact to dealer cash plus dealer profit (2-5% of cost?), then add back the destination charge because it is an actual cost to the dealer that they must pay. No not both. EITHER $4k manufacturer to dealer incentive OR $1500 cash back with special Mazda financing rates. If you have secured your own financing, i would go with the $4k. If you are a Mazda owner now you CAN add on an additional $1k loyalty rebate.

The invoice is around $39,300. I got several quotes, two of them offering over $7000 off MSRP, one is offering $6500 off MSRP. I am not a current Mazda owner and hence do not qualify for the loyalty stuff.

What's the MSRP or Invoice on that? I bought a CX-9 GT Stormy Blue AWD with moonroof/BOSE and Tow Hitch a few weeks ago. I think it was $4500 off invoice. Did not get loyalty bonus since I dont' have a Mazda. Most of the internet quotes I got back were around $4000 off invoice. Inventory varies depending on the color and options.

Agree, but my "alternative" interest rate is the opportunity cost of the cash i have in the bank (which is earning 1-2%). So I can either use my money and pay 1-2% interest rate (foregone interest on my savings) or pay 5% to use mazda's money. I made a mistake in my post stating 2 1/4" vs 3" when it should have been 1 1/4" (not 1.5", either) for class-II and 2" for class-III. I hope newawdcx9 was not implying that I provided wrong info. Because if I did, I certainly would love to know and correct it in my head. I have a 2008 model. newawdcx9 seems to know more about 2009 models. :)

That website has been under construction for a while now. Glad that it is back on line. As expected, for 2007-2008, the new version is "F" with 2008.1 map. For 2009-2010, the new version is "B", also with 2008.1 map. If you buy a 2009 CX9 today, you may still get the "A" version. Talk to your dealer about this before signing on the dotted line. :)

Hi lsnhc. What you were told is correct. The $4,000 dealer cash that Mazda is currently providing on the 2009 CX-9 is not compatible with its special financing or lease programs.
