Prius - Economical & Well Built
I love my Prius. It gets great gas mileage (43-51 mpg). It is roomy and comfortable for me at 5'11" tall. I would recommend the Prius to anyone who wants to drive economically. It's even fairly comfortable with my wife and two children with me. My only complaint would be that it doesn't handle as well as some other smaller cars that I've driven.
Fuel Economy
I drove this 07 for 4000 miles in Florida, then cross country to NM in late March. Averaged 51-52 mpg at sea level in mixed driving. Now 52-53 mpg at 7000 ft. altitude. I just learned something very interesting today. Toyota service rep. informed me that the car runs everything on electric. The gas engine is there only to recharge the battery! To maximize fuel economy, minimize gas engine operation. Accelerate rather quickly to operational speed and then drive with a light foot. Coast whenever possible. I love this car! My only negative is the inability to raise the driver's seat. My wife is 5'5" and cannot see nearly as well using the rear view mirror as I can.
Another Happy Prius Owner
All I can say is that I'm very happy with my new Prius. Everyday I learn something new about this car. It's such a joy to own and drive everyday!
I Love This Car
This is my first Toyota, let alone a hybrid. I read everything I could to see if I would even consider it and decided to take the plunge. Am I ever glad I did! The man who went over the car's features explained that speeding up and coasting would be the best way to save fuel. We'll see about that, but in the meantime I am having the time of my life in my new "Toy."
What a Concept
This car is great! It is affordable, not too out of the norm looking and the design of the interior makes you forget that you are driving a small car, roomy and comfortable. During acceleration, there is suprisingly more oomph! then my previous car and of course then there is the legendary gas mileage. It makes you wonder why it has taken this type of technology so long to catch on.
