Updated: 12/9/2025

The first electric vehicle from the bespoke British automaker, the Rolls-Royce Spectre coupe carries all of the brand's ultra-luxurious traits forward into the electric era, with an even quieter, more isolating ride than other Rolls-Royce models. The largest doors ever fitted to a Rolls-Royce open up to a spacious-enough cabin with four seats and a level of opulence and refinement unmatched by rivals. Of course, Rolls-Royce charges a lot for such exclusivity, but there's really nothing else like the all-electric Spectre on sale.

Excellent

7.8

out of 10

We drove the 2025 Rolls-Royce Spectre on our test track and on real roads. Our Edmunds team conducts rigorous independent vehicle testing, driving 500,000 miles a year.

Driving experience

8.3/10

How does the Rolls-Royce Spectre drive? The Spectre Black Badge, which is what we tested, has surprising athleticism. At our test track, this three-ton luxury coupe threw down a 3.9-second 0-to-60-mph time, as well as 0.92 g on the skidpad. Those are numbers usually reserved for sports cars. Interestingly, though, they're no better than what you get in the standard Spectre, so it's hard to say if the Black Badge upgrade is truly worth it in terms of driving dynamics.

Of course, the Spectre is not designed to be sporty. Its braking performance is adequate, and rear-axle steering helps it negotiate tight turns, but the steering is tuned for comfort and ease of use above all. Ditto the suspension; this car's softly sprung waftability makes for pronounced body motions, but it also delivers that signature magic carpet ride.

Comfort

9.2/10

How comfortable is the Rolls-Royce Spectre? It's a Rolls-Royce — comfort is the name of the game. The ride quality is nothing short of impeccable, and that's even on the coupe's largest 23-inch wheel option. At highway speeds, almost no road or wind noise makes its way into the cabin. Need data to back that up? The Spectre is the quietest vehicle we've ever tested with a sound meter. End of story.

If there's a single complaint to register, it's that the front seats could use a little more bolstering. The massage function could stand to be more robust too. Are we getting picky? Sure. But this is a Rolls-Royce. It should have the best seat massagers in the world.

In-cabin tech

6.4/10

How’s the tech? The Rolls-Royce Spectre relies on borrowed tech from parent company BMW; the so-called Spirit infotainment system is really just a reskinned version of an older iDrive interface. As such, the menu structure is somewhat clunky, but the system is nevertheless full of features and responds quickly to inputs.

Weirdly, several editors continue to have problems with device integration, not only in our test car but in other Rolls-Royces. Many of us simply cannot get Apple CarPlay to connect, whether using a tethered USB or wireless connection. The wireless charging pad is awkwardly placed in the console, too, and gets hot quickly.

Storage & cargo

3.9/10

How’s storage and cargo? A lot of electric cars have extra storage under the hood because that's where an engine would go. But Rolls-Royce has a lot of electronic and mechanical equipment housed there, so that long bonnet doesn't hide a frunk. Instead, you're left with the relatively small trunk. Sure, it's nicely carpeted, but the actual usable space is on the small size. Something to consider when you're ordering your fitted set of monogrammed luggage, we suppose.

We'd appreciate more space inside for smaller items; the doors themselves are massive, but the pockets are quite small. The rear seats are spacious, however. Just put your shopping bags back there.

Value

7.5/10

Is the Rolls-Royce Spectre a good value? "Value" is a relative term when you're talking about a Rolls-Royce. The Spectre starts around $397,000 and the Black Badge begins at nearly $470,000, and as tested, our Spectre rang up at $550,000. No one is pinching pennies or refinancing their home in order to park a Spectre in the driveway; if you want one and you have the means, you're getting one. Instead, the value is what you get for the money: a car that looks like a million bucks, that drives like a dream, that you can customize to your heart's content. The Spectre feels worth every penny to us.

MPG

6.6/10

How’s the fuel economy? We were surprised to see the Black Badge outperform the standard Spectre in the Edmunds EV Range Test. The EPA rates this model at 251 miles, but we observed 298 miles in our testing. The standard Spectre only traveled 281 miles in the same test, and with the same wheel and tire package.

The Black Badge is more efficient than the EPA's estimate, too. We saw 38.6 kWh per 100 miles, which is better than the expected 48 kWh/100 miles. This isn't majorly efficient as far as EVs are concerned, but like all things related to this car, if you're a Rolls-Royce owner, you aren't likely to care. Its ability to charge at up to 195 kW is average for a modern EV. Rolls-Royce does not currently provide adapters for the Tesla Supercharger network.

X factor

10/10

We knew the Spectre would be good — how could it not be? — but we didn't expect to be so overly impressed with the driving experience. The Spectre is genuinely enjoyable to drive, and not just because it's a fancy-pants full-size coupe with shooting stars built into the headliner and doors. Nothing else on sale today feels like a Spectre from behind the wheel, and when you're paying this level of coin for what is, effectively, a personal coupe, you want it to be special. The best thing about the Spectre is that it makes you, the driver, feel like the star you are.

2025 Rolls-Royce Spectre trim level differences

The 2025 Rolls-Royce Spectre coupe opens its two massive doors to seat four passengers in quintessential luxury. A 102-kWh battery pack feeds two motors, with one powering either axle for standard all-wheel drive. Combined, they produce 577 horsepower and 664 lb-ft, and the EPA estimates it can go up to 277 miles on a full charge. The motors are tuned to 650 hp and 793 lb-ft in the Black Badge Spectre, and the estimated range drops to 251 miles or 266 miles depending on wheel size.

Which Spectre trim does Edmunds recommend?

Without considering the countless customization options, the Rolls-Royce Spectre serves its mission best in standard form. The Black Badge Spectre adds more power, but it's not much quicker and it reduces the range. Rolls-Royce says the steering weight is increased and the dampers firmer, but that didn't come through in our testing.

Competitors to consider

The Rolls-Royce Spectre lacks a traditional bespoke rival; neither Bentley nor Aston Martin has plugged into an electric vehicle just yet despite promises to the contrary. Consider the Lucid Air Sapphire and its blistering performance (0 to 60 mph in 2.2 seconds), but it's more of a rocketship than coachbuilt luxury. The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT measures up to the Lucid Air Sapphire, but the Spectre is a class above in every category except performance.

Edmunds spotlight: Spectre elevates the Rolls-Royce experience

Rolls-Royce vehicles are known for suspensions that soak up road imperfections and a build quality that cocoons passengers from the impurities of the outside world. The Spectre's electric platform elevates those qualities, making it the quietest instrument-tested vehicle we've tested. The experience behind the wheel backs up the data, with acceleration that can jump this three-ton vehicle to 60 mph in less than 4 seconds, but without the leaping lurch from a stop of some performance EVs. Even with rear-axle steering and an adaptive suspension, the Spectre can't offset its prodigious weight when it comes to handling, and the steering feel is so light it feels like it wants to drive itself. It's all in character, however, for an enhanced definition of effortless grace.
