Used 2010 Toyota Corolla Consumer Reviews
Interior problem
Just bought the 2010 LE corolla, car performance and style looks great. We have a major issue that nobody wants to address. Toyota says you bought it now live with it. Please analyze this problem the interior material on all seats have tons of lint every time somebody sits in it. The material is very poor quality. Does anyone else have this problem? Please do a review on this subject. Defect or not?
Disappointed
I traded in a 2004 Malibu for this 2010 Corolla. I wish I had my Malibu back. The only thing I like about this Corolla is the gas mileage. The car floats all over the road with the steering, is not comfortable, and hard to see backing out from 45 degree parking.
Interior Material is linty
I read where someone else wrote about the interior material having the lint problem. I am too and feel the fabric choice is very cheap feeling and should have been a higher quality. Unfortunately, I didn't notice it until I bought the car I am very disappointed in the gas mileage because I'm only getting 28 when I thought I would get over 30 easy.
Not a Bad Car
Full tank, I get about 360 miles before the gas light comes on and refill is around 11 gallons. Overall I'm satisfied with the car. The recall was a system wide measure that Toyota took to make sure that they would gain our confidence and I'm not concerned, knock on wood. They even said that not all cars are affected. Steering is a problem, the car veers from side to side like having a gust of wind hitting the car. I could never keep the car straight on the road, it gets worse as I gradually increase speed. I took it to the dealer to check my alignment and it fixes the problem...mostly. I would still feel a slight drift, but not as bad as before.
I love my Corolla!
I purchased my 2010 Corolla after having a 1992 for many years. The 2010 is roomy, sexy, and in a manual transmission, super fun to drive. Toyota has really stepped-up its game with the redesign. I adore my car! I honestly feel like I'm driving a little sports car when I'm in my black Corolla. Also, great stock stereo! I'm blown away and turn many heads on the road. YES, it really is a Corolla!
Great compact car for the money
Just got this vehicle for my wife and she just LOVES it. I own 2 other Toyotas and it is just as dependable as my 4 runner and tacoma. Excellent gas mileage and for a small car very comfortable. Traded in a Lincoln Towncar so I wasn't sure what to expect as far as ride quality but was very surprised that it was quite comfortable.
Really well designed car, efficient.
My Dad still drives his '94 Camry. So when I wanted a reliable car, I went with Toyota. The 2010 Corolla LE is fantastic. Very aesthetically pleasing design, comfortable seats with height adjustment. TONS of standard safety features (A big selling point), good enough engine with unbelievable fuel efficiency. A great AM/FM/CD/Aux sound system comes standard, as well. I did not encounter a very touchy steering wheel at all. It controls very well. The brakes are responsive and stopped me quickly in wet conditions without a skid. The abundance of standard airbags and ABS makes me more comfortable to transport friends or family.
Corolla S- A giant leap backward
Very disappointed. I replaced my 16 year old Honda Civic with a new Corolla S. The Corolla has developed atrocious steering, handling, and braking issues after 3000 miles. This was not evident during test drives. The fuel economy is not that all impressive at around 28 mpg. The dealer has tried to help but these issues are related to the vehicle's design cannot be corrected. Amazing, using advanced technologies and materials- Toyota has managed to replicate the driving feel of my dad's 53 Chevy which had worn ball joints and air in the brake lines.
Llights on alarm
I have 500 miles on this car and am very happy with it. The only problem I have is the warning chime for lights on and key left in ignition. It's virtually inaudible. Brought to the dealer for repair. They told me nothing could be done under warranty but for 180 dollars they could fix it. Left a bad taste
Could be better finish - poor gas mileage
I am a Toyota fan and have owned many including 3 Corollas, This 2010 falls short compared to its peers in terms of interior finish (hard and cheap feeling compared to wife's 2010 Rabbit). Gas mileage is at least 30% less than advertised and no amount of TLC seems to make a difference. Steering a bit erratic. Cheap warning buzzer. Running perfectly according to dealer. Would not buy another one at this price.
Corolla From Clunker
Traded in my 4Runner for the CARS rebate and bought the 2010 Corolla. I have to say from where I was it's like driving a Cadillac. I commute in the some of the worst traffic there is on interstate 405 in the Los Angeles area. Counting the commute and on my third tank of gas I am averaging 32.8 MPG. Stop and go traffic all the way home. The sound system is good but turns to great using my iPod through the standard auxiliary input. The front seats are comfortable enough, though headroom is tight even for me at 5 ft 10". Nevertheless it's an enjoyable commute. The ride is smooth and the steering is not stiff as I have read elsewhere. All in all...Very nice.
Definitely will not buy!
Rented to see if I would like. Looked great from the counter so I was ready to go. 70 MPH across KS avg'd 32 MPG. 75 MPH in CO with about 5% driving in downtown Den was 31 MPG. Not impressive. KS was windy and the steering was awful. Passenger thought I was playing games so I made him drive. He could barely keep it between the lines. Inverter noise made stereo useless(fine in other cars). Buddy complained driving position made his back hurt. Seat felt canted towards center stack. Had to look at gear selector every time to find gear. Headlights cannot be turned off at will. Power mirror switch difficult to reach. Size 14 shoes do not fit well with gas pedal.
Could be better
Overall the 2010 Corolla is a good car with a few minor annoyances and one rather serious shortcoming - steering feel. The electric assisted steering is seriously over assisted at freeway speeds with no on-center feel or feedback. The result is a need to constantly correct the steering which makes for an uneasy and tiring driving experience. At times it actually feels unsafe with its tendency to wander in the lane. Additionally, a few cost savings interior details need attention.
Extremely happy
I felt compelled to write a review after reading Edmund's statements about Corolla being last in some survey. I truly am extremely happy. Averaging 30mpg combined hwy/local. Very nice look external and internal. Seats more comfortable than the Civic which I previously owned. Quiet. Handles tremendously well. Accelerates smoothly including uphill. Auto shifts smoothly. Multi-CD player sounds great. It's the smooth ride I think really impresses and the nice design. Then just add the quality - confidence this will last 100-200k miles or more.
My new car
I have been driving a Ford Escort for the past 12 years and need to buy a new car. I like the deals that Toyota was offering and always knew they were great cars and believed with all the hype they would be even better. So I went to look at a car and ended up buying it right then and there!
Ride is nice and smooth
I've had this car for over 3 weeks, and I must say, it's a great car. The ride is nice and smooth. Though the steering does "wander" a bit, it isn't unbearable. The seating is comfortable for me, and the radio/aux system is nice. The gas mileage is great! A really good economy car.
Very pleased
For the money this car is fantastic! The 1.8 liter engines has plenty of get up and go (I was surprised!) great breaks, handling is light and steering was quick and accurate (made it kinda fun to drive). The seats are comfy and there's plenty of room inside. Stability and trac are standard! This car feels more substantial the you might imagine. Low road noise and very absorbent ride, all help make the car feel like quality.
New Toyota Owner!
I drove other American made automobiles for years, until now. I found my 2010 Toyota Corolla LE on the lot just the way I configured it on the Toyota website, color and options. I've had it for two weeks and is the only car I drive. As a result, I am noticing its characteristics. My 2010 Corolla is a joy to drive! The traction control is a bit touchy, but otherwise in control. Brakes are still a bit grabby and took some time to get used to. The transmission shifts smoothly. I have no complaints about its steering, which I learned about during my research. I'm currently getting 32 mpg combined driving. Based on reliability records for the Corolla, I plan on keeping my car for a long time.
So far, so good
I have been very pleased so far. Reliable transportation and averaging 37 mpgs! Wish I could have afforded a camry, though.
A satisfied customer so far {2months}
I traded my Camry in for the Corolla as I like the ease of maneuvering a smaller car. It is too bad that some " expert" reviewers find the Corolla a turnoff because of the electric steering. It is a little different but perfectly acceptable. Also some reviewers complain of lack of power. I've been pleased so far.
So Far, Almost an A+
I really don't know where some of these negative reviews are coming from. I am 60 years old and used to sell Toyotas back in the 1980s, when you where lucky if you could buy one for MSRP. People where getting on lists to wait for one and most where sold by the time they hit the lot. This car is so much better in all aspects than the Toyota Corollas of those days. I love the way it looks and drives, not to mentions the 35 mpg that I averaged on the 1st 3 tanks of gas. I paid right at invoice for the car and got 60 months at 0% financing and because I traded in a 12 yr old Toyota Sienna with 170,000 miles on it, I was given a 2-year free maintenance agreement at no additional cost.
Gas mileage
I love this car! The mileage has been shocking... 25 city right on the button, but the highway has been an unbelievable 45.7 miles per gallon @ 65 miles per hour on cruise. I love this car!
Moving down or up?
Just totaled a 2001 MR2 Spyder and bought a new 2010 corolla S instead. I have driven normal corolla and wasn't expecting much out of the S model, but I was surprised. It was well rounded and much nicer. It is not by any means fast, but it does way better than you would expect a 132hp sedan to do. Overall the look is great, awesome gas mileage, and an unbelievably good interior for the price I paid (which I got one hell of a deal). If you are looking at one but the name "corolla" scares you off, give it a shot anyway, you might be surprised.
Good Car
I have leased this car for 5 months now, driven 2500 miles and have had no problems so far. The car gets great mileage, I gas up once every other week. For those that say it is bad, fuel economy declines rapidly past 60 mph for all cars. Drive slower. I do agree with others, the steering is bad when there is a lot of wind. Also I dislike how the ABS comes on after every bump while breaking. Other than that it is a great car that looks great. I also like the sequential shift, it makes finding gears fun and adds class. Would buy again, but at a lower price. The interior is cheap for the high cost.
Reliable car...costs too much
this a 2010 Corolla S Automatic canadian edition, drove 16000+kms for 5 months now. my last car was a 1998 corolla VE, drove it for more than 6 years and 200000+kms. Not much changes to the basic car, drives without much problem. i drive around 150kms a day on weekdays and averages 7.2liters/100kms. Good traction on snow and ice when combined with michelin X ice tires. Observations- Paint chipped off with few months, On cold mornings the accessories belt/pulley whines while starting. Both these according to Toyota Service advisor are usual and they can do nothing about it! Gear change from 2 to 3 and 3 to 4 had a slight delay, the dealership corrected it during 2nd service
Vibrates like a 20 year old car
I do not want you to make the same mistake, even though I bought brand new 2010 car, the car vibrates like a 20 year old car, you can feel the vibration in the steering wheel, doors, seats. I told the dealer about the vibration and his answer was that all Toyota corolla vibrates and that I am not driving BMW.
Love It
I have about 700 miles on my new 2010 Corolla LE. It is extremely quiet - I almost can't hear it when starting up. The ride is very smooth. I actually love the steering - a very strong reason for buying it. The steering to me feels tight, and very responsive. It just feels great for me, while numerous other people have complained about the steering. Braking is responsive. Acceleration is good. All in all, I enjoy driving it.
Second Corolla
After being hit by a 18 wheeler, and surviving, I decided to replace my totaled 2008 Corolla CE with a 2010 Corolla LE. So far, I am very satisfied with the new Corolla. It feels roomier and more comfortable than the '08 Corolla and has more creature comforts. I have not noticed any of the steering issues that other have complained about, and the build quality is fantastic. I do suggest getting the dealer installed body molding, it makes the car look better and provides protection from door dings. Finally, I got a great deal on the car with zero percent interest.
Not Bad - Not Great
I purchased the 2010 Corolla S after driving an 07 Civic for a couple of years. While it is not a bad car, I do wish I had bought another Civic. I am not getting as good of gas mileage plus all the recalls etc. The steering is a problem for me especially on windy days.
solid car
This car is a solid, dependable car. I bought this car coming from 2 bad experiences with Pontiac and Lincoln. I am hoping that this car is as reliable as corollas of the past. So far, i am getting 36 mpg on average. On the highway i am getting close to 38, which is great. The ride is smooth and relatively quiet. The stereo system could be better, but I may upgrade that myself. The seats are comfortable, and I love using the auxiliary part of the stereo for my IPOD.
Solid Economy Car
Overall happy with the vehicle. Repeat Toyota buyer, but did switch one vehicle to Honda FIT this year.
I'm Happy
I am very happy with my new 2010 Corolla XLE. I have owned a Tercel, Corolla, Camry Wagon and Sienna. They were all great, so I stayed with Toyota. I am especially pleased with the quiet ride, bluetooth, zippy engine and look. I prefer the cloth to leather since I live in very hot temps. I was excited at the powertrain warranty and oil changes for life as well as my fin. deal. I95 staff treated me like I was buying a Lexus.
Was satisfied, but now skeptical
I recently bought the 2010 Corolla in July, and I am amazed with the fuel efficiency. I just took my car into the dealership for its first oil change. The dealership informed me that a recalled part had to be replaced in my car. When I drove my car home, I noticed this high pitched noise coming from the left front end. The noise occurs when I accelerate, especially at speeds greater than 60mph. I also notice that it occurs when I'm in cruise control. When I took my car back, they couldn't figure out the problem, even after 3 test drives. They initially thought that wind was causing the noise, so they replaced some molding. I still hear the noise.
Back Pain
Even though specs say car is bigger, it seems smaller inside; feel crunched. All Corollas have slanted seats (toward back, fall into a "V" shape) which kills the back unless you use a slanted cushion. I'd like to know who designs cars and why don't they get consumer's input?
10000 miles
Gas mileage, low 27 high 39, average local driving 30/31, interstate 32. Front seats are good, trunk space good for small car, small opening. Drives good but steering is numb. Horn sounds like it belongs on a childs toy. Low beams are poor, they light the road surface but very little else. Very sensitive to wind. Transmission shifts good during local easy driving. After downing shifting on hilly interstates the shift from 3 to 4 is hard. Transmission slow to down shift when driving back roads. Very hard to see out the back when parking. Engine sounds like a putt putt car. Radio sound is ok, changing cd's is different than most. Car is rough when crossing joints in the road
Bread and Butter Car
After many test drives, I narrowed the field to the Kia Forte and the Toyota Corolla. I judged the Corolla's seats to be more comfortable, and that's very important and very personal. Overall, the Corolla is quite competent and well mannered. It's quiet on the highway. It is sufficiently peppy, and handles well. Between the seat controls and the tilt and telescoping steering wheel, I can get quite comfy in the driver's seat. I also know for a fact that the anti-lock brakes work very well.
My Car!!!
This car is my favorite car yet. i test drove a Chevy cobalt and was somehow and in someway digusted by it. But this car is great. I get about 32 miles per gallon on it everytime i drive it. I fill up the tank once a month and thats really all I need. The clock could have been in a better position and the speakers arent really great but i do love my moon roof and the automatic headlights. Steering is going good for me, I like it so I dont know what these other people are talking about. This car even looks good from the outside. better than the cobalt and civic in my opinion, but thats just me. my wife likes it too!
2010 Toyota Corolla
Traded with cash for clunkers . Looked at Mazda 3 , Honda Fit, Toyota XB. Came back to the Corolla. Trunk good size for small car. Quieter then cars in its same class. Agree with others about the clock being moved to radio and the left foot rest is poorly placed. Great commuter car and the S model is very sporty .
GOOD Car
I purchased the Corolla S. This is a real good car. it has a good fuel consumption rate if you drive moderately. i put ten dollars in and it will last me for three days. like any other car, if you floor it, it will go. if you put premium gas in it, it REALLY takes off. This car is a cruise type of car. Driving at 60- 80 burns the gas good. The ABS is REALLY annoying. Every bump you brake on, the thing just keeps on coming on. have no control on it. Steering system is good. the sound system could be more louder. the interior is ok but it can be better. Suspension is real good too. you really don't feel any bumps on the road, even when driving fast.
You don't need a spoiler with a 1.8
I have driven this S Corolla for about a week and have owned 98 and 90 Corollas. The gas mileage is around 40 on the open road, so it's going to do what a Corolla is supposed to do. The road noise level is acceptable and does not interfere with the radio. The interior has plenty of room, if you like to ride with your arm on the door it will be uncomfortable because it is farther away. If the 2.4 engine was standard instead of the 1.8 there would be less down shifting with cruise on when going up hills which is more frequent than it should be with the 1.8 engine. Electronic assisted steering seems to wander a bit, maybe a sensitivity issue or alignment? All in all I did buy it for the gas use.
Great on gas mileage
When I researched this vehicle, I also reviewed the Civic, Fit, and Elantra. I liked the Civic, but it's a little out of my price range. The Corolla turned out to be an excellent overall vehicle for the price. It seems to be a quiet car. The exterior design is nice. I was almost afraid to get this since I saw a lot of complaints about the ECS, but I don't notice anything bad about this. The leg room is as expected, and seems fine.
Wow, I just save $20 bucks
Well, I just filled up my new LE and It only cost me $31.00. I got 400 miles out of the tank. My previous car cost me $50 to 58 to fill and I got 400 miles to the tanks. This car will pay for it's self in a few years. The bucket seats are not the greatest fo all day driving and the automatic steering is something different, but hey I bought a car that will last and has great gas mileage not a Corvette. I love my car. This war will save me about $80 per week. That is about $4000 per year savings in gas and in 3 1/2 years the car has paid for it's self.
Quick glance after 300 imles
Love it fun to drive Great 4 door sedan that makes commute fun Lacks raw horsepower/torque of my other cars in the gargage but gas mileage is much better. No problem keeping it straight I think it's just really touchy so people are over correcting. It has the EVP #3 plus sunroof the sunroof open at high way speed is very easy on noise.Don't be afraid of the recall on this car the only recall on mine is for floor mats, but my floor mats are attached to the factory hooks to keep them from sliding in to dash area. I checked my VIN # at Toyota website. Will use this for commuting as it gets way better mileage over my Mustang and Explorer.
Awesome Buy, Very Pleased
I bought a 2010 Corolla S in January of 2010. I LOVE this car. I've never had a front wheel drive before this car, always all wheel drive. It drives great, it looks great. The interior is so sharp looking and so is the exterior. The only thing is, when its SUPER windy outside, the steering isn't excellent, but not horrible at all. I get GREAT gas mileage, I drive 20 minutes to and from work everyday and I fill up once a week. I also don't drive liek a grandma either and I still get great mileage. When my lease is up, I will be definately buying another Toyota. I suggest going with the S model, it's 300% better then the LE and base.
First time Toyota buyer
I recently just traded in my 06 Saturn Ion for my new 10 Corolla and I couldn't be happier. I haven't experienced the wind/steering issue... it did in my Saturn so it's one of the things I love about my Toyota. Also, in my Saturn, it constantly felt like I was hydroplaning when driving over a puddle. Not in this car! I feel safe. My only complaint is the position of the clock. It's way too low and difficult to see while driving. Gas mileage seems to be great so far... averaging about 30 MPG and that's city and HWY driving.
Love it!
I love my new Corolla. The bluetooth, storage, ride, comfort etc. is all there. Getting great mileage. Have not noticed steering problem and I have been looking for it after reading others. I like the way it looks too. I am very pleased and would recommend it to others. I do agree the clock should be moved, but thats about it. I find all the features to be up to Toyota's usual standards. I feel like I am in a Camry most of the time. I have had Toyota's in the past, still have an old Sienna. Got this car to get the good gas mileage and it was the most comfortable one out there.
Best Car for the money.
We picked up this nice little Corolla LE 1.8 Gray last week. So Far so good, we like the color, engine size, comfort, electric steering witch is so light. We put 200 miles on it so far and we have no problems like other people have described. My wife loves this new car. There are only two little things that bug me. One is the clock it is definitely too low there is a lot of space to move it higher and the other thing is that it doesnt have a place for sun glasses. But besides this the car is grate and it sips gas! For what we paid we don't expect more or less, just perfect.
I love this car!
I have had none of the problems that I have seen in these reviews. I suspect that most are made up by haters that don't even own one. 39.5 MPG, quiet, very comfy, and damn good looking.
The sport is fine!
My s is great. Very quiet smooth ride handles great. I have had no problems with it so far. My mpg average at 37. My wife loves it. I paid 18,000 @ 0% for 60 months it's worth it get an s not the le. I've heard they have more issues. Negatives the wind does push it a little but if you can't handle that you really should have your license taken, needs a little more horse power but hey what do you expect is a 1.8 with excellent gas mileage. Get the s with a sun roof its really quiet even with the roof back
Nice Change
My old car was a 2001 Ford Escape and the change was very welcome. I love the fuel economy. While it is on the smaller side, it is the perfect size for my needs. I am looking forward to saving some $$ over the next few years.
