Ignition coil issue with this car

If you want to spend $$$ buying ignition coils yearly on this car then buy this car. Each is $90. Very troubled car. I bought it at 0 miles. Do yourself a favor and buy a Honda! More reliable car. It will save you money!

Well built car, excellent mileage and decent standard features. plenty of room and comfortable car. Toyota improve your steering please, it's awful. Get better brakes too and give some more low end power to your 1.8. who puts the clock down by the shifter? other than that i strongly suggest buying one.

I will not buy again

Nobody in my family works in the auto industry. No relative works in the auto industry either. This is my second Toyota car. I bought it in late October 2010 for about $16,665. This was bay far the biggest mistake I have ever made in buying cars. It turned out that part of one airbag was not installed properly. It seems that steering wheel will be out of control if the speed is high (say about 70 mph). There are some rattling sounds when the engine is turned on. You can not hear the rattling sound when the car is moving because the road noise is even worse. I would definitely NOT recommend this car to any friends.

So I wrote a review two years ago right when I bought the 2010 Corolla. A lot has changed and only for the worse. When I'm on the highway it sounds like there is something retelling around the roof, and I'm getting the feeling like the roof will fall off, it happens more on a windy day, also the car is starting to jerk when I'm in drive at 40mph trying to go faster. The car also has a problem with pick up when I want to accelerate and switch lanes. Over all I'm getting scared of driving this car, and I'm thinking of trading it in, not for another Toyota, I believer they are getting to expensive and the quality is going down hill. The dealer always has excuses on not looking in to this mater.

I've had my 2010 Corolla S for a while now. I'm happy that it's getting around 30.5mpg in the city driving, I don’t drive much on the highway. The wind noise is pretty quiet.. Things I don't like: It has a 4 speed automatic transmission, why isn't this a 5 speed or 6 speed? Come on Toyota... Loud road noise on concrete highways. Very loud. Unbelievably loud. My friends 2010 Elantra is silent compared to this car.. I hear creaking coming from the drivers side front pillar and back pillar on passengers side. I also hear a weird rattle underneath the dash that sounds like a tan can. Who knows? I've never had a new car with rattles and squeaks...??

I've had Corolla 2010 S model since 03/2011. Bought it brand new. After a year, I may have ran over the pot holes but that affected the rear bumper. During freeway trip, the two sides of rear bumpers opened up like two wings!!! It was so dangerous. I finally bang on those and got them to snap in place like legos, very flimpsy. When I took my car the the dealer folloowing day, they said it's not warrantied because running over pot holes shifted the rear bumper (lego out of place). My Godh!! This is car and it should be nuts and bolt in place not plastic snap in place like LEGOS!!! It's not safe to be riding on these corollas. Prior to 2008 corollas are good but the later models are cheap!!!

The seat is so uncomfortable

I had this corolla for a year and half with 18,000 miles. the worst about this car is that it hurts your lower back because the front seats are so unconfortable. I'm fit in terms of physical shape. Interiro is very boring and buttons are hard to reach. sound system is okay. engine noise is okay. The handling is little off because if I let go my steering wheel on straight road, it turns to right or left. The acceleration is slow than I anticipated but okay. I get around 30 to 31 MPG on 50/50 hwy and city. Although the meter reads 32.5 but I think it's inaccurate. I also notice a wind noice especially when driving on hwy. I wouldn't recommnad Corolla unless you want your back broken.

I had a honda civic since 2006 and I figured I would try something new. In Sept I purchased a Corolla LE.. The car seems ok but the material for the seats is horrible. It is a gray material and it picks up lint. I mean it is really bad. The car is two months old and the seats are filled with tiny pieces of lint. I called Toyota and they said that is the first that they have heard of it. I am very frustrated. I can't remove it with a lint roller. I have to pick each piece individually. WOW!!! all those things I heard about Toyota are true.... bummer!!!!

Corolla CE with Enhanced Convenience Pkg

Corolla is quiet, smooth, pleasant. This car is not really designed for tall people, and people of average-and- above girth. I'm 6'2" and 180 pounds; the leg space is acceptable (just so- so), but my left elbow is passed the door elbow rest, with the seat all the way back; the seat cushion is too narrow - its side bolsters dig into my behind, making longer drives very uncomfortable. There is no lumbar support. The steering wheel telescopes and tilts, which is good. Controls are logically placed, simple, and easy to operate. Amber back-lighting of the instrument panel looks great, but the red needles badly crash with it. The stereo system sounds very basic.

I just bought this car last week, and it gives 36-40 mpg on the highway! This sure beats my ford ranger I traded it for (thanks cash for clunkers!) This car is really smooth on the road, and comes with the CD/MP3 player, and even has an auxiliary jack for the ipod. I bought the 2010 base Corolla, and it still came with built in blue tooth. Cold AC, and double glove compartment. Not to mention the Room! The back seat folds down to allow more cargo space. Go for the LE model if u want cruise control. Just make sure to negotiate the sticker price, and if you want to, knock out the extended warranty they offer! Corolla's are so reliable, it won't break down within that warranty period if you take care of it.

I bought this Corolla a few weeks before X-mas, replacing a 15 year-old Corolla with 331,000 miles on it. The new Corolla is comfortable and fuel-efficient. I didn't have any problems with the steering, which was mentioned by some critics. A period of significant snow and ice tested the new Corolla's handling, and I was satisfied with the results. So far I have gotten 34 mpg in combined city and highway driving.

I bought my car two weeks ago and so far, I am very satisfied! I love the fact the S model is sporty, but yet "practical" as far as size. It drives very smooth and so quiet. The stereo has excellent sound, although, I would have thought the car would have come with a 6 CD changer. I love the interior! The fabric with colorful "specks" adds a little bit of a different look. I do not agree at all with the vibration when driving. I have not experienced this at all.

Shopped around a number of cars, including hybrids (Toyota Prius and Honda Insight) as well as slightly bigger cars such as Mazda 6 and Toyota Camry. Tough to beat the 2010 Corolla S on value for money. Alloy wheels, sunroof, electric heated mirrors, cruise control, etc. I did the math in terms of fuel consumption and although I really wanted a Prius but the financial numbers just didn't stack up. I am achieving a real world 32 mpg in my commute and 38 mpg highway. The 5 speed manual is very smooth and effective and the 1.8 liter VVTi engine picks up easily under 2,000 rpm if you're in the mood to save even more gas.

We shopped around quite a while for a "recession car" and finally arrived at the 2010 Corolla LE. We traded in a Jaguar for it. At first going from a Jag to a Corolla may seem like car shock, but my wife really loves the Corolla. The Corolla boasts a nice ride for a small car. The steering and handling feels safe and secure but not especially "sporty", but that doesn't bother us. The car is surprisingly quiet and gas mileage is ridiculously good. For a small car I'm impressed. The ride can't compete with an upscale car, but then again an upscale car can't compete with the Corolla's combination of practicality, low price and great gas mileage. We're VERY happy and highly recommend this car.

Unpredictable Handling

The handling of this thing is worst of the 6 FWD vehicles I've owned--makes driving work instead of pleasure. Like riding a half-broke horse, you don't know which way it's going and when! I doubt it's due to weight--other small cars don't have the problem. Otherwise, price, pep, gas mileage, visibility, noise levels are good for this level of vehicle. Poor center armrest for driver. After I bought it, dealership informed me it needs undercoating from them or Ziebart because it's not done at factory! The vehicle would be a keeper if the steering mechanism was reliable and it tracked well. Best thing about car is it's a Toyota and I should be able to unload it easily for a decent price.

The Sporty Corolla S is a Joy to Drive

This is my fifth Toyota purchase. I have never had any mechanical problems with any of my cars. I value dependability and Toyota delivers. I downsized from an Avalon XL to the much-smaller Corolla, and I don't regret my decision. My gas mileage is terrific and I can whip into the tightest of parking spaces with ease. The redesigned Corolla S is very attractive and it is a joy to drive.

This is my second corolla and it is a solid car. Great mpg and more comfortable than I expected! The 1.8 is as good as it gets for an economy car and the sport look is outstanding. Got the package discount and what a difference that makes! The ride is steady and sure and the feel is vague at highway speed but that will take getting used to. Cheap plastic but this car stickered for the same as my 99 corolla with more features!

This car has all the safety features as standard equipment and that was important to me. The ride is very quiet, road noise, almost non- existent. This coupled with the roominess and comfort make you think you are in a larger sedan. As a commuter car, the size is just right and the gas mileage very good. I have been buying Toyotas since 1984, and this is my third Corolla. They just keep getting better.

The 2010 Corolla XLE is a solid American-built car. The improvements over the previous generation are monumental; It is like driving an entry level Lexus for $20K, but with good fuel economy. Hugs the road. Not a single rattle, squeak, or clank to be heard. Roof is a bit too low for tall people. Sunroof, auto-climate control, and navigation are nice touches.

Made the mistake of not driving it any distance. Very uncomfortable. Seats headrests seem to push your head forward, and keep your neck at a bad angle. Arm rests not in correct location. Silly little plastic foot holder for left foot to rest on, reminds me of a kayak. May be reliable, but surely not any joy to drive. Cup holders do not accept regular size household coffee cup.

I just got 37+mpg on the 1st tankful of gas. Like others, I am starting to notice the wander. Maybe needs more caster on the front end. It seems peppy enough for a 4. It does have a 4 cyl mild buzz during acceleration. I like the D to 3 shifter and it shifts quickly when asked using that. The door armrest seems to be a little unusual. Cup holder in the center will not accept bigger cups. It is quiet. The radio does have some bass 'boom' to it with some music. MOVE THE CLOCK TO THE RADIO! This is my 1st Toyota.

I knew I was buying a very cheap car that would get great gas mileage. However, I guess that it would be marginally better than my low expectations. Gas is Good, but not what was on the sticker. I'm at around 28 mpg. Tires show excessive wear at only 10,000 miles. And car will not start sometimes. Had it to the Toyota dealer and they can't find the problem. They will however sell me additional services that are not requested. I should have bought the Elantra!

Wish Toyota had a 60 day guarantee because we would take this car back asap.

The 2010 Toyota corolla still has the stigma of the acc. problem that has been fixed earlier in the year. Which means unheard of deals. I got invoice price plus an additional $2000 off and 0% financing. I got the 2010 corolla s model with almost every option/blue tooth/moonroof. My bottom line was less then 16,000 with tax/tags out the door. As far as the drive. I love it. 0-60 in 8.5 seconds. Who cares. I am not a nascar driver. I never have a problem accelerating up hills nor passing at anytime. I have the 5 speed and it is fun to drive. This is my 3rd corolla. And I am sure will have no problem going 200k plus in miles. Deal of the year. Hurry you have a few months left.

I test drove the Toyaota Corolla, loved it. Not to mention the warranty is amazing. It took me 3 weeks to make a finale decision on a new vehicle. I did not go with the Corolla only because my full coverage insurance would double on this vehicle. So please before you buy call your insurance and ask for a insurance quote. That may make your decision for you. I bought a new 2011 Jeep Patriot and my insurance only went up 20.00. Please get a quote first! Tough decision.

90% As Good as my Lexus!

After driving a Scion xD (and not liking it at ALL), I test drove a Corolla "S." Night and day difference! My other car is a 2008 Lexus IS 250 with lots of options, and this Corolla is 90% as good. It's quiet. It gets great gas mileage. The list of features is impressive. There's plenty of room and while a bit on the bland side, it's peppy and predictable. Other, similar econo-cars either skimp on the features or cost several thousand more. The Corolla does what it should, and I don't regret the purchase at all! Sure, there are room for improvements--but at this price it's hard to consider the car a compromise.

XLE - Cushy Smooth Quiet Car Commuter

There are several cars to choose from if you still want to sprint on city streets, race in-out of lanes on the freeway and drive canyon roads, but most/all are very noisy, rougher riding, less refined overall and get low mpg. If you want a very quiet, smoother-riding, high mpg commuter or cruiser, at a reasonable price the XLE is a great choice. The engine/auto trans is silky smooth and pulls away from a stop smoothly, not with a jump. With windows closed, auto climate control-set, and your favorite music playing thru the JBL system, your music mutes on incoming/outgoing calls over Bluetooth linked to your phone, controlled by steering wheel controls. A nice ride in a smaller car.

When i first bought this car i was really excited because i felt i had upgraded from my 99 Avalon. Now i just wish I would've gone with a honda or mazda. This car has a lot of trouble accelerating as if the car was pulling something. The steering wheel doesn't seem to turn as much as it should. While driving at 65 mph it was difficult to keep car in between lines. This feels unsafe and worse than my 96 accord. It's infuriating that Toyota would build a car this way as oppose to stepping up their game after all they been going through. The car looks great but id rather drive a car 14 years older.

So I bought this car, and from day one, under normal driving conditions, if I'm braking and I hit a bump or pothole, the OVERSENSITIVE ABS kicks in and increases the stopping distance. Loud and heavy vibration, felt at the pedal. This is an issue that definitely needs to be addressed, I bought this car for the safety rating, but it's not safe. I cart around young family and this vehicle is definitely not safe. I regret buying this car. Has only 7k miles on it and I sit and watch it collect dust.

I bought my 2010 Corolla S for an incredible price with automatic, spoiler, power package and 16 alloy wheels. I also looked at Mazda3, Kia Forte and Honda Fit. Toyota beat them all on price to my surprise; I suppose the Toyotathon helped! It drives very well for a small car and the 4cylinder auto is responsive and eager to go. It's not going to win a drag race but cruises at highway speeds very quietly and economically. Looks fairly sporty with the rear spoiler, but again it's not a corvette. Very quiet at highway speeds and rides very smoothly!

This was a Cash-for-clunkers deal. My former car was a loaded 91 Cadillac, so you might imagine an awkward transition, but I love it. The car is quiet, accelerates well enough, easy and pleasant to drive. The S in a dark gray, clearcoat, with tinted windows looks pretty sharp, not that much different than the little Lexus. First drive of 200 miles on the highway hit 40.7 MPG! I get 30 around town. Seats 4 adults very comfortably. Fold down back seats added versatility. Sound system is quite adequate with the 6 speakers. For the price, and I really shopped around, there is nothing I could find to match with such fuel economy. No hint of the weird steering issues others mentioned.

I drive 500-600 miles a week and the gas mileage has been outstanding (37- 40 mpg highway) as long as a speed of 65-70 is maintained during highway driving. This saves about $10 a week in gas cost. Quieter and smoother ride versus a comparable Civic. Previously owned a 2004 Camry LE and the cabin noise is even less! Have seen numerous reviews (mostly with the S trim) citing rattles and other noises, but have yet to see any of these issues. Acceleration is a bit sluggish from a start, but what can you expect from a 1.8L engine. Overall a good commuter car.

I have been a Toyota man for the past 22 yrs, so are my kids, my 2010 corolla sport has excessive wind noise coming from both front doors, 2 dealers looked at it, was told it's a characteristic of car? To live with it. Sorry I owned a 1998 rav 4 soft top with no wind noise, my 88 corolla no wind noise for life of car. 500,000 km, and my daughter yaris no wind noise. Live with it? Quality really have gone down hill, I hate driving a Toyota!

We love Toyota in my family. I have owned my Corolla S for two weeks and am getting 33.5 mpg, which is what I was looking for. I was looking for a sporty look and the spoiler and sunroof of the Corolla S was the best I could get for the money. Not fond of the boxy look and the sport fabric of the seats which shows every spot. Love the visibility of the front window, the roomy feel, big trunk, data of mpg, and smooth ride. Do not like the placement of center arm rest which is too far back and center cupholder built only for a travel mug. I'm getting used to the odd placement of the clock and the illogical shifting direction. Overall, very happy with this purchase.

Engine threw a rod at 150,000 miles. All service was done at dealer. Service writer outright lied to Toyota Brand Engagement rep and said there was too much oil in the car which caused the engine failure, as a result they would not cover repairs. Then quoted a price of $7k for a new engine, however their version of a "new" engine was actually a salvaged, as is engine with 125k miles on it. Toyota does not build cars like they used to, and they do not stand behind their product either. Time to give Honda a try.

This car handles terribly. The steering of the vehicle is like you are always driving on ice. Constant drifting and difficult to control even with a slight wind. Trucks nearly blow you right off the road. The engine is way under power for the car. Needs about 50 more ponies under the hood to made it a decent drive. The comfort is terrible too. I am 5' 10" and am uncomfortable after driving 50 miles. And NO I do not work for another car company, just telling you like it is. You want a nice compact car? Do not buy a Corolla.

I was Toyota loyal fan for so many years. This time, I hated it because I did not do a good research. 2010 Corolla oil filter, acceleration pedal, steering problem, and maintenance requirement light within only 5000 miles. It is very bad design on oil filter. Not to mention the recalls. Toyota really screwed up this time. I want my money back.

Purchased my Corolla S in early June, it came down to the Corolla or the Lancer GTS. It came down to mileage, I drive 80 miles per day so the Toyota was just more sensible. So far I have gotten 37 hwy, awesome. Interior is very comfortable as I am a bigger guy. W/o the spoiler the corolla's look is as boring as it gets but with the S add ons it looks pretty cool. The ride is pretty smooth, not too much outside noise. The engine really has no pickup however. There are some odd placements of the cruise and side view mirror controls. Overall I really feel I made the correct purchase.

This baby was a pleasant surprise. We also have Lexus IS and now it seems that Lexus is totally not worth the money paid for it. Pickup is really not bad at all for such a small engine. Overall, it's a great commuter. Definitely a big bang for the buck considering its depreciation rate.

If you hit 60 mph, you feel yourself close to God because you might die anytime. The car loses all its balance, steering/handling is out of control, as if there is a strong wind hitting you sideways. I called toyota, they said they are aware of the issue, but no recall yet. If several people dies, I guess then they will start dealing with the problem.
