Just Incredible
Just picked one up with 85K miles on it. I wanted one back when they came out, but I ended up working overseas. So finally bought one! Simply put, it's incredible! I've owned a variety of cars in my life, but this is the first one that I actually take out for night time drives after the kids are in bed. It's got some pep in stock form. Great handling. A little low on the torque at high RPMs, but I prefer low-end torque on windy roads anyway. There's enough space in the back for two child seats, the stock speakers are quite good, and the front seats are really comfortable. The fuel mileage couldn't be better either - I'm anticipating 500 miles per fill-up.
A dependable ragtop- Yeah baby!!!
Very solid car with great suspension and turning capability. Mine is the 2.2 litre which is great on the highway. The front seats are comfortable- and the rear is there just in case, but lets face it, this is more of a car for one or two people. The exterior design is terrific. One issue- the side of the driver seat wears because of design and it would be good for Toyota to address this problem, although it is repairable by an upholsterer. I live in Canada where no Celica Convertibles were brought in by the dealerships so I travelled to Texas to get her. Overall-a great car........ now where did I put my snoopy leather cap, goggles and white scarf.............. t
Great car + great gas mileage...fun!
I bought this car used with 120,xxx miles. Nothing has ever gone wrong (except for a timing belt change). I've put 20,xxx miles on it and it still runs perfectly and quietly. The only problem is that there are not enough mods...but I can handle that. Oh, to mention the gas mileage...I get 28 mpg in the city! It's also very fun to drive (although a little underpowered, but I'd give up power for gas mileage). It also looks great...like a sports car. The interior is also great, but there's not enough room in the back for even a teenager. I recommend!
Best car I ever had.
The only thing I have done to this car since new (purchaced with 40 miles on OD) has been to change oil regularly, keep it clean, replace the tires (2x) and add fogg lights. I'm still on the original brakes (more than 1/2 life still left.) My milage has been all highway, and the car has only seen 2 winters, the first year I had it and this on (2003-2004). I have kept the car garaged since day one. Best car I ever had. Peepy, reliable.
'95 Celica GT Hatch Still Gets 26-30mpg
At 213,000, I still have the original transmission in my 95 Toyota Celica GT Hatchback in Baltic Blue. She has a 2.2 liter 16 valve engine and I just now replaced the radiator. I have always used premium unleaded. Mileage increased 5mpg upon moving from CO at 6K feet to near sea level in OR. The hatch is great; fold down the back seat and I can carry a bicycle or other large items in the car. I plan on remodeling the outside very soon, and replacing engine parts as needed, to keep her as long as I can, hopefully to enter her in shows when she is old enough! She is smooth, accelerates nicely, gets out of the way of reckless drivers quickly. Be careful: "Think" to turn right, and she does!
