2010 Toyota 4Runner Limited 4dr SUV 4WD (4.0L 6cyl 5A)

Review

Have 5100 miles and so far and is exceeding my expectations on MPG and comfort.
Just got back from a 1200 mile trip and the reclining back seats were a big hit!
The lack of freeway noise and great ride and seats make it an excellent long distance cruiser.
Easy to avg 20 MPG overall.
In daily 25 mile highwy/city commute I typically get 20.5 MPG with some stop and go driving which is amazing.
Exceeding 75 mph gets the MPG to drop slightly below 20 mpg. Also nice to use only regular gas as compared to mid-grade or premium in my Tacoma and Lexus.

Best Features

Besides the keyless entry, sport shift and seats, I have to say that the Nav system is much more advanced and easier to use than my 06 Lexus IS. Love the option to view a graph of the MPG over the past 30 minutes. The X-shocks on the limited are worth the upgrade for handling. While you hear some engine noise around town, on the freeway you virtually hear no engine or tire noise which makes me feel like it is an equal to the Lexus GX470 at a bargain price. Having a power rear window I can control makes it great for hauling our dog in the back. Low range 4wheel drive for off road fishing and hunting is nice.

Worst Features

Shape of the headlights and tail lights need improvement. Not sure it needs to be 9 plus inches off the ground making the step in difficult for some passengers. A power tailgate should be offered on the limited and optional on other models. Engine performance is adequate, but wish it had more power to comfortably pull my 21 ft boat up into the mountains. Would probably rather have a flat floor over the sliding rear tray that I have, but could not find a Runner w/o the kid only 3rd row seats with a flat floor. Offer the TRD supercharger as a factor installed engine option.

Review

Toyota=Reliability in my experience and that is why I bought this truck.
Now after 16 months and 45k here is the verdict....

Reliable..so far no major issues
Comfort - little
Performance - well underpowered but gets from point A to B
Styling - beautiy is in the eye of the beholder..its ok for me
Build quality - tinny construction, lotsa squeaks
Fun to drive - Toyota?
no, just FUNctional to drive

Overall value - ok to me since it seems to be accomplishing the objective i set out to achieve - reliability

Best Features

I do like the heating element that warms the wiper blades on cold icy mornings...not as slick as the heated windshield on my range rover but neat nontheless. 4WD system is solid

Worst Features

The pull out gadget in the cargo area. It rattles and squeaks, constantly oiling the tracks... Toyota WAY overthought the need and usefulness of this "rube goldberg". Keep it simple, that is their forte. No V-8 option is more about selling up to Sequoia, Land Cruiser or Lexus. Give the consumer the option and charge them for it if they want it. Tinny construction in a $40K vehicle is not acceptable. Your customer wants a solid vehicle that feels like it too. Another grand or two making it more bullet proof is not unreasonable. More seat comfort. Captains seats would be a welcome addition with leather that actually feels better than hard vinyl. Bluetooth system needs work

2010 Toyota 4Runner SR5 4dr SUV (4.0L 6cyl 5A)

Review

I have just traded in my SR5, owning it since Oct. '10. From the get go had slipping trans from 1st
to 2nd gears...tinny doors, poor quality seats,
spongy brakes, noisy, growly engine... this is not the 4 Runner of the past generations....I'd pass on this one.

Best Features

Gas mileage, bluetooth, smooth ride.

Worst Features

better quality upholstery, heavier doors, power seats standard, quieter engine

Review

had six 4 runners over a 25 year period. so obviously have been happy with them, PREVIOUSLY.
have had the '10 limited for five months now and so disapointed with it, i sold it new years weekend. gas mileage 17mpg,
pickup/acceleration is terrible. so underpowered.
dont believe the HP is adequate for the mass of the vehicle. need to downshift constantly in order to get up the slightest incline.
apprehensive to enter a highway.
wouldnt try passing a scooter.
if your looking to only drive it to the local green market then ok. otherwise look at anything else.

Best Features

sound system is very good. probably to act as a cover for the inadequate accelerating power.

Worst Features

larger engine or lighten the mass of the vehicle.
