CAN'T WAIT FOR LEASE TO EXPIRE!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!
I've been leasing my cars for 30 years, my last 7 have been Hondas and never a problem so I could kick myself for switching over to the Subaru Impreza. I've had it for 10 weeks and the best mileage I've gotten is 220 miles to a tank of gas but average is 180 to 200. The engine is loud and the car feels like it's about to stall until it is warmed up. Does not hold the road well on highway. I usually do a yearly road trip from Florida to NY but will not be doing it with this car. To make matters worse this car is costing me $95 more a month than my last Honda. It's going to be a long 3 years till my lease ends.

Great car, but noisy
I have fallen in love with my Subaru, now having owned it for a little over a year. The gas mileage has improved substantially once I'd added an aftermarket cold air intake (which greatly increased horsepower, too). I'm now averaging about 30 miles to the gallon of gas (combined city and highway driving). I replaced the stock exhaust with a less restrictive, flow through model....and that has increased gas mileage, too. I wouldn't trade this car in for anything!

Not What I Expected
My first Subaru, had a top of the line Toyota Camry xle, subaru does not compare. First I was taken with the protection "glass coat" and the interior protection. If raindrops get on inside, it automatically leaves marks hard to get off, and sunscreen on your hands or legs is pretty much a cannot do in that car.sap is supposed to come off in the car wash, no way. The biggest problem is startup sound, sounds like an old engine, no remote start for a $32k car. The Entertainment center is seriously messed up and malfunctions big time! I will be taking it in but from what I read Subaru is not supportive. I have a whole list of things unfortunately. 😢

Best thing going for me
This car is really well rounded, and for me was the closest thing to what I want. Safe, hatchback, low to the ground, comfy for 4 tall people, awd, dependable, fun to drive, nice looking. My only hesitation is the CVT; I don't car for the simulated shift points and at times it seems to stumble as the "brain" tries to figure out the best ratio of fuel, air, and speed. On the whole, it's the best car for me right now, and I'm very satisfied.

Terribly complicated controls
This is a pleasant car to own and operate. The digital systems are extremely complex, to the point that I would discourage anyone to purchase the vehicle. It is unpleasant and discouraging, destroys the joy of a new car. The manuals are excessive but too complicated to understand. Particularly, the different models are all mixed up, and one does not know which features are in or not in the particular vehicle purchased (new, from dealer) including initial dealer demonstrations. All too complicated and as mentioned manuals are equally complicated. There should be a separate manual for each vehicle type: for instance the Starlink quick guide includes on its cover: Crosstrek, Impreza, Legacy, and Outback. The Starlink Owners Manual includes all 3 options: 6.5 inch, 8 inch multimedia plus and 8 inch multimedia navigation. I believe that weak color coding for what applies to which, but it is not at all clear. All is disgusting. I read too late that the 2017 models were downrated for this sort of complication, but mine is a 2018 and experience indicates that the situation has not been improved.
