The update on Subaru Impreza Hatchback Sport is a terrific package of improvements, all of which aid and abet the feeling of being in charge of the driving like never before.

UPDATE: I'm still extremely frustrated by the lack of a CD player - even after 3 years! Also, my knuckles are skinned from trying to use the charger for a GPS. Very poor design! If one wants a basic car - manual transmission, hatchback - the base model DOES NOT include a CD/MP3 player, even for a few dollars more. The more I spend time in the car the more I miss the lack of a CD player! It affects the driving experience, especially on longer trips. No, I don't have a smart phone (salesman kept telling me how to download music, books, etc.) so this approach is N/A. I have a lot of CDs and get books on CD from the library, giving me a lot of variety (also free). Also there are fewer nooks and crannies to store things than in my 2005 Ford Focus wagon (e.g. a change compartment, CDs, subglasses, etc.). The center arm rest almost blocks one of the beverage holders, making it awkward to use. Mileage is about 30-33 MPG on regular. It has 2 chargers: using one means you must remove stuff from the cubby to get to, the other is in the armrest, also making it awkward. Consumers Reports has removed its high rating due to "electronics." Yes, they are cumbersome to use. It you want to take lots of time, they probably work as designed, even if unfriendly.- but I don't use most of the features - and there's NO CD PLAYER! Mileage on regular gas is good: 33-34 mpg.
